Not going to lie, I love it.😍

Absolutely, these people think - somehow - they're more clever and better informed than all these scientists, aeronautical engineers, coders, biochemists etc?
Arrogance and stupidity intertwined.

I remember seeing a cartoon with a woman standing in a hallway, through the door into the spare bedroom you could see her husband sitting at a computer saying over his shoulder, "Darling, I've just found something on the internet that all the scientists have missed."

My other one is benefits, benefits should only be claimed for 6 months.
Why should we pay for your kids.

I think I’d die on the hill that letting kids in your own society go hungry is wrong even if they’re not your kids and the parents are a bit shit.

That ALL religion is just fairy stories for adults and never stands up to scientific scrutiny

People who claim to believe in a god/gods must know this deep down. Surely.

Spelling, grammar and punctuation matter greatly.

Yes, but the hill I'll - not die on, but stick a big flag on - is that there have always been people who write perfectly and others who don't. It's the quality of ideas expressed that matters. I think it's good that everyone has a voice nowadays and the ancient gatekeepers no longer get to dominate the stories that are told. Of course, like any human advancement, it's a double-edged sword, but I prefer the current setup to the intellectual snobbery that once ruled the publishing world. The English language is not dying out or becoming corrupted; it's always evolving, always expanding, and there is always room for people who care about the rules and those who push the envelope a little. As well as people who don't give a toss either way and are just saying something. I'll listen, as long as they have something to say.

Good one 😂!
About the time of the covid vaccine development, there was a cartoon of scientists in a lab saying "well we've done all the calculations, research, development and trials, all that's left is Jeff in his back bedroom to say if it's ok"

Old people driving stupidly slowly is more dangerous than young drivers.

Chavs should be expunged well before dogs. If the chavs have chav dogs then they should be taken off the chavs and given treatment to turn them back in to a normal dog.

You move to a country you should make every effort to live by that countries culture and values.

Immigrants should get no benefits whatsoever unless they are employed

So the women should be sterilised too until they show themselves to be competent ?

Since no sterilisation method is easily reversible then for the moment I’m merely being hyperbolic. There are responsible parents, who make sure they are capable, to have children. Then there are those who aren’t (barring genuine accidents). I feel so strongly about people who aren’t prepared to put their heart and soul into their children by half-arsed parenting. I think it hurts the children, their peers and society as a whole. So yes, people should prove that they are capable and responsible before being given the privilege of being a parent. That’s a hill I’m willing to die on. You?

AInightingale · 13/10/2026 20:20

Anyone who wrings their hands and gives out about climate change whilst flying multiple times every year should just STFU and never mention the subject again.

Care homes shouldn't be congratulating themselves on social media with photos of people with dementia doing mundane everyday things like sitting in the garden.

People with dementia cannot consent to their image being shared potentially world wide (and the images are not flattering). Plus, these are basic activities that should be part of everyday, not a once in a blue moon amazing event accompanied by ai text.

HelenaWaiting · 13/10/2026 20:22

Private dentistry should be abolished. Rotten, neglected teeth cause other health problems which costs the NHS.

People who whinge about benefits should come and see my son, who has an abcess on his brain and is likely to need support for years. He loved his job and worked hard to get his qualifications. Come and tell him he's a scrounger.

People who think the moon landings were faked are so stupid that they should be banned from interacting with others.

SevenYellowHammers · 13/10/2026 20:23
  • Personalised number plates are a stupid waste of money and make you easily identified if you do something wrong.
  • High heels look unnatural and painful
  • So much effort and time is spent analysing data and trying to meet targets that no one has time to do the actual job properly.

We need outright war.

Off to the ' front' with ya then . See yer later for your state funeral .

Houseshmouse · 13/10/2026 20:23

Cows milk is for baby cows, not humans.

They are forcibly impregnated and have their babies ripped away from them just so humans can drink bovine breast milk. Madness!

  1. The death penalty is never right. People will say that I'd change my mind if someone killed one of my children. Yes, I probably would which is why the decision is made by government, not by individuals.

  2. People who believe the moon landings were faked are so misguided that I wouldn't trust their opinion on anything else.

  3. Salt & Vinegar is the best crips flavour.

People who believe that salt & vinegar is the best crisps flavour are so misguided that I wouldn’t trust their opinion on anything else.

Agree on 1&2 though 🙂

That ALL religion is just fairy stories for adults and never stands up to scientific scrutiny

more to the point, its essentially one fairy story with variations on the theme of anthropomorphism of deities who somehow managed to create the entre universe in a day with one of their tears

"universe is big, I don't understand it, must have been created by giant man... with beard, yes, that fits" is the height of arrogance, narcissism and stupidity combined

but the variations on a theme are enough to go to many wars over

if you looked at be those historical behaviours driven purely by unproven belief purely through the lens of psychiatry,

many people would committed to forensic hospital for life due to being a grave, and active danger to others... instead they led, and lead, nations, while performing mass hypnosis on their cult members

Do the Middle Eastern religions have anthropomorphism of deities? Which ones?

Yo808 · 13/10/2026 20:28

Father Christmas is just another religion for children but actually one they will definitely sooner or later realise is a lie and sets children up for cynicism for life

mcrlover · 13/10/2026 20:28

Politicians do not give a sh** about anything other than gratifying their own power cravings.
NHS doctors, nurses and frontline staff are almost like saints who have been brainwashed into sacrificing their own basic personal needs for an ideal of the "good for the patient" that is totally exploited by pharma companies and other profiteers.

The retired and unemployed should be banned from shopping at the weekend. Severe fines should be applied.

Yes and apparently old people shouldn't be allowed netflix and coffee. Maybe costa should have bouncers on their doors to keep the undesirables out.

chat forums were common pre-2000 and even before the Internet became mainstream - you can trace forums back to its original, super-geeky form usenet

When I think of the birth of antisocial media, its either youtube, but more likely the virus that Zuckerberg spawned a few years later, Twitter quickly followed on its heels and then smart phones became the delivery vehicle

I can think of a pre-internet version of social media (at least, before many people had the internet at home): Backchat on teletext, where teenagers could write in. I remember a comment which I think sums up the whole of modern social media:

”Backchat is brill because of the stupid things you all talk about. Keep up the work everyone, it’s so funny!”

I already explained. Clump of cells if early. Or a foetus.

Aren’t we also clumps of cells?

a foetus isn’t a species. What makes this foetus different from, eg, a cow foetus?

mcrlover · 13/10/2026 20:33

The burka is abhorrently sexist, and our "tolerance" of it purely in the name of "tolerance" is shameful. We pretend to be civilised by pretending it's pro-choice, but really we are allowing subjugation of women who don't have a choice.
