An appalling school your poor child had to endure by the sounds of it.

Happily not so with mine and other posters.

So you really should not extrapolate from the horrendous school your child went to is indicative of the majority. It is not.

and you are incredibly naïve to think just because YOUR school was fine, that this isn't an increasing issue.

Why are you being so hostile and confrontational?

Thats a good question and not a yes or no answer. I’d say it depends. Someone thats a high earner and has paid in more than they’ve takes out perhaps however most people aren’t net contributors. A line needs to be drawn somewhere and I’d say if they wanted the benefits of being a British citizen why not become one? I understand they may not want to and that’s fair enough however it goes back to the perks of being a citizen of said country.

For transparency I’m not British by birth but I lived in the UK longer that the country I was born in. I am (and my DH as well) are both what people would qualify as high earners, and would say we contributed more than we have taken (considering we didn’t even get child benefit) and I’m ok with that. My argument would be as follows benefits need to have an end date - not indefinite, unless you have an incapacity or carer for children/adults with disabilities. For British and non British alike. Also those who haven’t contributed to the system shouldn’t be able to claim - British or non British. And my other argument would be - why not become one? The cost is prohibitive for many when I did mine (which was not that long ago) it was £1200. I would hazard a guess it’s not a cost that many can afford especially if it’s a couple wit children - in my case it was only me as my husband is British.

Its the parents job to prepare kids for adult life.

But even on MNs comprehension is often questionable

Becuriousnotjudgemental1980 · 13/10/2026 17:28

Apologies if I misunderstood. Are you talking about people who were born here? They should get first dibs over someone who’s got citizenship but isn’t British born?

worldshottestmom · 13/10/2026 16:42

Apologies, was thinking of filler and was rushing to write this comment. Though have just learnt that botox can diffuse, which is similar to migration.

Either way, I just don't think people who get botox ever end up looking great/younger. But as I said originally, each to their own!

I have Botox maybe twice a year, it is cumulative & I have been having it for over a decade BUT I am under no illusion that it makes me look younger, what it does do is help you look "fresh" as in not tired or stressed or "frowny" (my friends driscription)

Maybe this is the hill I'll die on? 🤔😂

Edited

Because you are sweepingly saying that schools are like prisons

which is patently silly nonsense

godmum56 · 13/10/2026 17:30

Fireworks and sky lanterns should be banned. I'd make an exception for scheduled public displays on 5th nov.

Roseberry Topping.

I thought this was a dessert of some sort until I read the reply to it, so LOL, but also, I bet it can't be windier than Greenan in Donegal (site of a prehistoric fort; Grianan Aileach)

DebbieSavage · 13/10/2026 17:30

When the 'Union' is dissolved in the not too distant future, instead of reverting to England we should change the name of the country to something else and have a complete rebrand to shut the door on our unsavoury past and reflect a more modern & progressive country.

Those who think sex is underated aren't doing it with the right person.

agree

Worldinyourhands · 13/10/2026 17:31

Most of the dogs in rescues should be put to sleep. Lots of them aren't suitable to live in most homes, and the ones that are are gatekeeped by the rescues to the point that it's almost impossible to rescue them anyway.

It's fine to buy a puppy as long as you research your breeder and make sure it's not a puppy mill, and yes there are good, ethical breeders.

MsColumbo · 13/10/2026 17:31

Star Trek Deep Space Nine is the best of all the Star Trek series. Also highly relevant to watch today.

British/Irish/American/French/Australian/New Zealand/etc Sign Language should be required courses in school curriculum like English is.

Rollergirl79 · 13/10/2026 17:31

Blending families is shit for the kids and parents who disagree are in denial because they feel guilty.

Tattoo sleeves on women look vulgar and grubby.

People who come in to the country illegally should be arrested and deported.

People who take weight loss jabs instead of eating right and exercising are lazy and have no willpower.

Afternoon Debbie! I suggest "America".

Yeah that's what I get from it! It makes people look fresher, smoother, almost filtered when first done. Yet, not younger, and when it wears off just looks odd until it's redone.

I mean if I had to choose between both or fillers, I'd be choosing botox. Another hill to bury me on

All cyclists should have lights and the police need to start cracking down when they break the rules of the road. Lights, speed, crossings, cycling on pavements.

Anti semitism - it's discriminatory.

Woke - all woke.

also they should need a licence like a driving licence and pay VED

RedCatta · 13/10/2026 17:32

The ability to reproduce doesn't make you emotionally mature, educated or knowledgeable enough to raise a child well.

Parents aren't automatically experts, and disagreeing with bad parenting isn't “mum bashing”. Some people are simply shit parents, and children deserve better than adults being shielded from criticism

Ewwww you must be joking. I was thinking something more uplifting like 'Diversia' or 'Hopeland' but it could be a national competition to come up with the best name.

Gentle parenting is shit.

but with that one, first you'd need to define what you mean by "gentle parenting"

"but that's why the UK is in huge debt, we've been financing the global-scale cover-up - I saw the proof on youtube"

I remember someone telling me that 9/11 was faked because the President survived. There's no helping some people.

Surrogacy is people trafficking and not in any way in the best interests of the baby and should be illegal in almost all circumstances.
