No, they don't "behave like prisons". How silly.

so you're fine with the isolation rooms, ridiculously strict uniform rules, locking toilets..etc?

Getting a baby's ears pierced is tantamount to abuse.

Agree here. and little boys being circumcised without their consent

Interesting the number of anti-abortion posts on a women's site. Course at least one is a man.

Was also surprised to see this. Will always be pro-choice as it is just too dangerous to have any exceptions. My ultimate belief is that abortion should be available to women. What I do not agree with is women who use abortion as a method of contraception.

I worked and was friends with a girl who ended up doing this and actually ended the friendship because of it. However, there is no way to police this and I still think abortion should be legal and fully accessible. It's just a shame people recklessly, carelessly use such a service in this way. It is nothing to be taken lightly.

99.9% of the world's problems are due to overpopulation and our resulting technologically 'advanced' ability to pollute, burn or eat everything, then wipe ourselves out (and often in that order)

and we've been overpopulated from an ecological systems perspective for a lonnng time (as in at some point soon after the turn of the 1900s)

Gravestone of Earth would read "Here Lies Stupid"

Mooselove · 13/10/2026 17:18

Anyone who thinks the moon landings were fake is an idiot.

Just how have the literally hundreds of people involved with them been kept quiet all these years? No amount of money would keep all of them quiet

It's aitch, not haitch. I don't give a shiny shit that haitch is used in some regional areas and particularly in Ireland, mainly among Catholics. They can say it how they like or course, but theirs is a dialect form of the word, not the correct form. There are not two correct ways to spell it. It's just aitch. It's an English language word and the English dictionary spells it aitch.

Israel is the ancestral homeland of the Jews. The Irish are wrong about that as well.

The Irish are wrong about that as well.

All of us? So we're all just a homogenous blob with no independent views or opinions? Interesting...

I am reminded of the Flat Earth Society's reported slogan " We have branches across the globe" or some such.

Fucking brilliant 🤣

I highly recommend Gabor Mate's research on why 80% of autoimmune diseases are contracted by women.

Social housing shouldn't be for life. If you need help with housing that's great but when you no longer need that 3 bed house then you should be made to downsize.

Abhannmor · 13/10/2026 17:22

Hills are not a great place to die.

I agree with the bloke who said most of the world's problems are caused by the inability of a man to sit quietly in a room.

Those fecky little microphones everyone is using are very annoying.

More hills you will find my corpse on:

  • steak is the best food ever
  • People who say 'expresso' should be deported
  • People who eat loudly in staff canteen, chobbling and/or with mouth-open should be fired for gross misconduct
  • Parents who don't let their kids jump in muddy puddles cos they'll ruin their clothes etc., are no fun and are hindering their child's development
  • Leaving your kids with whoever is free to go on a piss-up every weekend is neglectful
  • Dogs should NOT be kept in crates for hours. They should be used for short periods of time (car rides, etc).
  • MOST importantly, horror film trailers SHOULD NOT feature on ASMR video ads (!!!!!)
GintyMcGinty · 13/10/2026 17:23

Anyone that thinks the moon landing was fake, believes in a flat earth, anti vaxxing etc is either not very bright, poorly educated or just nuts

RanyaJerodung · 13/10/2026 17:23

Echobelly · 13/10/2026 17:15

  • Nurseries and schools should stop serving anything except fruit as dessert - why are we teaching kids to expect sweeties after meals?
  • The UK should start formal education at 6 like a lot of other places- 4 year olds are just at such wildly different levels of readiness for learning
  • A toddler doesn't need a tablet or games on your phone - there's no need to start them on constant quickfire entertainment that young
  • 'Instagram faces' are a surface made for phone screens, not the reflection of a personality and look weird and jarring in real life
  • If Jewish people (of which I am one) want to save some concept of a Jewish state we need to call Israel to account, not try to defend everything it does.

Your last point? I know plenty of Jewish people who do. However, it's not right to hold them collectively responsible. I'm not held responsible for the land of my origin.

good for you, wasn't in either of my kids schools, and no, i didn't home ed, they both went to local secondary schools that became part of an academy system. One stayed ok-ish, the other went full send on isolation rooms, locking bathrooms during lesson times, and having uniform rules so strict kids were fainting on hot day and being sent home for wearing skirts an inch too short.

Its like buying a cup of hot chocolate and having to be advised it maybe hot! Have we really become so dense!
You might want to read up on Liebeck vs. McDonald's AKA the reason every chain started labelling drinks as hot. I don't think she was "dense".

And people have to put stuff like this and that nuts may contain nuts because people have no common sense or we in a litigious society.

Marlowe was Shakespears ghost writer after faking his own death due to a homosexual cover up involving walsingham

Just trying to get my head round Puritan Francis Walsingham being involved in a gay cover-up. I think working that one out will keep me awake for a long time. Any chance we could have more details?

Right buckle up tin foil hats at the ready etc.
Wallsingham went to Cambridge as a lad and used his connections to recruit young men from there for his spy network. One of whom was Marlowe. Marlowe did some work for walsingham and this was going to interfere with his graduating cambridge so walsingham spoke up for him to ensure he could graduate. Then Marlowe wrote some plays loved some men lived his life. But then he gets in some trouble tudors are against the man on man action and marlowe wasnt exactly subtle so just before he gets arrested he is found dead upstairs in some womans house. Stabbed in the eye and forensic science not being what it is these days, everyone accepts that yup thats Chris oh well can't go arresting him now.
A theory that i believe is that walsingham gave him the nod that he was going to get arrested and not wanting him to give up any of his spy information under torture helped Marlowe to fake his death and sweep it all under the rug.
But Marlowe loved writing and wanted to carry on. In comes Shakespeare someone Marlowe was known to work with and they happen to look weirdly similar (seriously look it up) and says ill publish your plays and you can pretend you're me sometimes when its people we don't know or its a bit dark.
Tadah!

ChillingWithMySnowmies · 13/10/2026 17:12

schools these days behave like prisons. They're stressing our kids out and not 'preparing them for adult life' in the slightest.

Critical thinking is becoming a lost art.

Its the parents job to prepare kids for adult life.

An appalling school your poor child had to endure by the sounds of it.

Happily not so with mine and other posters.

So you really should not extrapolate from the horrendous school your child went to is indicative of the majority. It is not.
