But Vader reads Luke's mind and uncovers the fact they are twins, so Luke knows. I can't remember what he hears from Obi Wan in Empire Strikes Back. I suppose Leia could have a force connection but she says she remembers her being beautiful but sad, and I maintain the ROTJ script suggests she knew her as a child! As I say, my hill...

Vader finds out that Luke has a sister, and makes the connection that they must be twins because he knows what Luke doesnt, that his mother died in childbirth. That is the point when Luke finds out that he and Leia are in fact twins, which is AFTER the conversation in the Ewok village.

ETA Just done some googling and George Lucas said that the original story he planned (that Padme would survive for a while hiding with Leia) was changed, and that the reason Leia has this "memories" is indeed through the force.

Too many youngsters are going to University simply because it's the "norm" now. A lot aren't bright enough and would be better at the local college.

Are there local colleges that are an alternative to university? I can’t think of any near me, though there is a university.

Basically, when you get a tattoo, you're putting chemicals and tiny particles into your body that aren't meant to be there. Some of that ink also gets into your lymph nodes. Your body tries to get rid of them but can't so it ends up constantly reacting to something it can't remove. That causes inflammation and extra pressure on your immune system for the rest of your life. Likely contributes to cancer too.

Lmfao, I have seven tattoos now....big secret though, I was born with autoimmune diseases, lol.

But why do so many 'hills I will die on' have to be nasty ones?

These threads are always designed to attract a certain kind of poster and whip up a bit of hate/meanness, and never fail to do so.

It would be nice to see a few more posters wanting to die on a hill of positivity, at least!

Why are they ‘nasty’? Nasty is subjective. I don’t consider a lot of them nasty at all. Home truths will always be uncomfortable.

And what hills of positivity are there to die on? If something is happy and sugary and sweet then it doesn’t go hand in hand with death does it?

I agree with all your points. Especially No.1!🐶

Agree with the weight loss jabs make you look older/worse and will be dangerous in the end

Lip fillers are objectively repulsive.

Botox is a poison that decreases your ability to feel emotions as well as express them.

Oh, and this rise of anxious teenagers is due to coddling.

I used to agree with this until covid hit, both my parents died within 10 months of each other and my confident, happy go lucky teen suddenly became anxious and withdrawn. Ive never coddled either of my kids and always encouraged them to be independent and resilient. She still struggles at certain times even now

Marlowe was Shakespears ghost writer after faking his own death due to a homosexual cover up involving walsingham

not that it matters in the slightest, as nobody has any idea who Shakespear was???

absurd to not believe in moon landings

Mine =
Get rid of positions where men need to fight (both, with or without weapons)

Stop manufacturing all weapons

Ban religions (no buildings or writings should be destroyed)

Absolutely cannot change sex (what male would put up with all those period pains every single month, let alone all that ‘blood’!) & never allowed to steal words- woman/lady /female/ girl & etc.

Yes, I have seen that with some teenagers, often the brightest and most confident. It's very sad to witness.

Just trying to get my head round Puritan Francis Walsingham being involved in a gay cover-up. I think working that one out will keep me awake for a long time. Any chance we could have more details?

MrMurphysComeuppance · 13/10/2026 16:26

It's aitch, not haitch. I don't give a shiny shit that haitch is used in some regional areas and particularly in Ireland, mainly among Catholics. They can say it how they like or course, but theirs is a dialect form of the word, not the correct form. There are not two correct ways to spell it. It's just aitch. It's an English language word and the English dictionary spells it aitch.

Israel is the ancestral homeland of the Jews. The Irish are wrong about that as well.

Exactly. Genetics are wild sometimes.

Hills I will die on: Ban smoking, drugs and alcohol. I'm sick of the damage it does to people and their families.

Same for scalping or any sort of greedyvreselling that takes away from people with hobbies or children.

Any sort of transphobia, homophobia, racism or ableism needs stamping out immediately. I'm sick of it.

Botox does not migrate. Filler does.

-Abortion is always wrong (not looking for a fight on that here lol)

-Sex is nice but overrated.

-I would never accept a hen night* being associated with my wedding (long since married now)

*I first encountered these as a shy 17 yr old boy (decades ago) and was genuinely deeply shocked to see how some people behave on them. My opinion of women up until that point was one of immense respect (it has never recovered since!) and it was actually traumatic to me, to witness how people can behave in the run up to their wedding, when they think no-one will find out.

Watching brides-to-be snogging man after man in pubs etc definitely left me with some kind of trauma / PTSD to the extent that, even today, I immediately feel deeply uncomfortable if I encounter a hen do. From then on there was no chance of my future fiancee having a hen do, the poor dear, but hey-ho blame the sisterhood!

'Home truths' Grin

The 'hills' on these threads are frequently bigoted, narrow, insensitive, irrational or unjust POV that for many people, would absolutely align with a broad definition of 'nasty.'

You don't actually have to die on your hill. It's just a way of saying 'I firmly believe this,' and so yes, that can absolutely be something positive.

It seems I need to clarify (although I genuinely didn't think I'd have to!) that I'm talking about a potential contributing factor, not suggesting tattoos are the sole cause of autoimmune disease or that everyone with tattoos will develop one.

Obviously, some people will develop autoimmune diseases without ever having a tattoo, and plenty of people with tattoos won't. Neither of those things rules out tattoos being a contributing factor in other cases.
