DH is vegetarian so he is having roasted potatos, roasted whole onions with mixed herbs, butternut squash topped with crushed walnuts and a drizzle of honey, creamed leeks, peas, and cranberry sauce.

DCs and I are not vegetarian so we are having the above plus roasted marinated chicken drumsticks.

I cannot wait!!

Can't remember the last time I did a roast but today we had actually had a (simple) roast:

  • Chicken
  • Roast potatoes
  • Peas
  • Carrots (cooked with butter, dark brown sugar and lemon juice)
  • Cauliflower cheese
  • Bread sauce and gravy

Followed by apple crumble and custard.

😋

I've cooked a big piece of gammon with maple syrup and mustard and we're having baked potatoes and corn on the cob. I've also made roasted butternut squash and carrot soup. (But we'll probably eat that tomorrow - it's just that I had spare shelf in the oven)

Also dutch apple crumble and cream. All very comforting.

DM bought us a leg of lamb - super kind! So we are having that, with roast potatoes, honey roasted carrots, cauliflower cheese, braised red cabbage, stuffing and yorkshire puddings. All home made, I love cooking a roast!

I've also made a honey mustard roasted gammon joint today which has been cut up for sandwiches in the week, some pizza rolls for lunches and some baked egg cups for breakfast. On a mission today!

M&S have provided pudding though, in the shape of a hot chocolate sponge cake with freshly whipped double cream.

I had a takeaway roast! Private chef near me does them. Roast vegetable tart, potatoes, cabbage, red cabbage, roasted parsnips and carrots, stuffing, gravy and vegan cauliflower cheese and even vegan yorkies. So good 😁

Roast pork and chicken, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, red cabbage with apple, hot honey carrots, sprouts with bacon, cauli cheese, yorkshires and gravy. Apple crumble and custard for dessert.

Roast chicken. Potatoes, carrots and leeks from the garden. Bread sauce, proper gravy.

Christmas cake also made today (not for eating today though, am just bragging 😁

ETA Yorkshire puddings too.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/10/2026 18:25

I have a chicken and a gammon joint in (I like lots of leftover meat for sandwiches for my lunches).

Roast potatoes, sweet potato and parsnips.
Brocolli, carrots and mini sweetcorn. Asparagus.
Gravy and stuffing.

Pork seems popular on here. I do not like pork apart from in sausages. We usually have beef or chicken. We like lamb but don't have it often.

Shodan · 11/10/2026 22:07

We had

Roast beef (only a small joint because it's just the two of us today)
Roast potatoes
Roast carrots
Cauliflower cheese
Broccoli
Red wine gravy

annnnnddd..

Home made Yorkshire puddings, which turned out perfectly despite DP opening the oven door before the allotted time was up (I may have screeched at him a little!). Historically I am Not Good at Yorkshire puddings so usually buy them but I became grimly determined to master them.

(am stupidly chuffed with myself 😂)

I am with you. I don’t eat pork unless it’s sausages form somehow. Hate bacon, gammon. I might fancy ham sometimes but it will have to be high quality from the butcher.

TheChosenTwo · 11/10/2026 22:15

We had roast rib of beef with caramelised shallots, Yorkshires, roast potatoes,
Parmesan parsnips, cauli cheese, cabbage and a very beefy gravy.
Then treacle tart with clotted cream.
Proper Sunday roast for us. We do have a roast most winter weekends.

Copperoliverbear · 11/10/2026 22:51

Nothing wrong with being stupidly chuffed with yourself. Hope they tasted good. I cheated with mine (courtesy of M&S).

I never used to be a fan of pork but it’s a lot cheaper than Beef and Lamb so tried it last weekend. I slowed cooked it after stuffing it with butter, garlic, thyme and S&P and it was really good. Had it with homemade apple sauce with apples from the garden.

I usually do my gammon in cider but will try pineapple juice next time, sounds fantastic!

Mango juice works really well too, especially if you then baste it with mango chutney before finishing it off in the oven. I usually do that one at Christmas.
