DH is vegetarian so he is having roasted potatos, roasted whole onions with mixed herbs, butternut squash topped with crushed walnuts and a drizzle of honey, creamed leeks, peas, and cranberry sauce.

DCs and I are not vegetarian so we are having the above plus roasted marinated chicken drumsticks.

I cannot wait!!

My Dad said the trick with yorkies was to a) get enough air in them, whisk them fast until the top is covered in little air bubbles and b) preheat the tray.

Thick batter, hot oven.

A very straightforward roast today - it’s just a means to an end really as I need the leftovers for a recipe tomorrow!

Roast chicken
Mash
Stuffing
Steamed carrots and broccoli
Yorkshires

Roast beef
Roast potatoes
Pigs in blankets (husbands fave)
Broccoli
Carrots
Peas
Gravy
Homemade Yorkshire pudding (going to make a big one and cut it up)
1 roast parsnip for husband 🤣

This made me laugh as I do the same - I buy a bag of carrots for us all and one singular parsnip for husband 😂 nobody else likes parsnip, I think I have the gene that some people have for coriander but for parsnips - they taste disgusting and soapy to me.

PageTurn · 11/10/2026 15:41

Roast chicken
Brussel sprouts
carrots
kale
cauliflower cheese
roast potatoes
gravy
yorkshires
stuffing

I’m in my caravan, so dinner for one today. I bought an M&S potato dauphinois and a small tin of steak in gravy. I had it with steamed carrots and green beans. I’ll chop up the rest of the dauphinois and have it in my morning omelette 😋.

Oh, I have some Malbec too- lovely after a long coastal walk and a sea swim ☺️.

LilyBunch25 · 11/10/2026 17:37

Just roast chicken today, roast carrots, sweetheart cabbage and stuffing. No potatoes as we both find them a bit too much 😊

EllaPaella · 11/10/2026 17:39

Chicken for us today. I’ve put garlic, rosemary and Thyme butter under the skin while roasting. All the trimmings - pigs in blankets, apple and cranberry stuffing, bread sauce and cranberry sauce. Having it with roast potatoes and parsnips using the M&S root vegetable seasoning 😋

Sprogonthetyne · 11/10/2026 17:39

An Iceland cook from frozen chicken joint in the air fryer. 5 minuts before its done I'll put some frozen mash and mixed frozen veg in the microwave. (We've had a busy day and I CBA)

EllaPaella · 11/10/2026 17:40

@NormasArsethat sounds like the perfect way to spend a Sunday

BiddyPopthe2nd · 11/10/2026 17:41

Roasted chicken thighs (still with skin and bone), with roasted Mediterranean vegetables with balsamic glaze (I needed to use up last week’s veg from fridge so did a bag and froze the rest to use later) and roasted halved baby potatoes. (I had originally planned southern fried, but it was too much hassle).

alwaysbehindascreen · 11/10/2026 17:44

We had baby potatoes, roast potatoes, chicken, stuffing, Yorkshire puds, sweet potato mash, carrots, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and green beans

I am making a lazy one! In a tray, baby potatoes, onions, carrots, loads of herbs and garlic. I then put a whole Chicken in same dish. I did make some cauliflower cheese, will have onion gravy and yorkshire puddings!

Does my dream roast count? It would be medium rare roast rib of beef, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, sprouts, leeks in a creamy white sauce, mashed swede, curly kale with homemade Yorkshire pud and English mustard on the side. And to aid digestion (you understand) a good Malbec. For pudding I'd very much like pear frangipane tart served with full fat French creme fraiche.

That sounds absolutely delicious. Malbec for digestion is a must must.

stample · 11/10/2026 17:55

I know! I just wish it was a reality - with someone else doing the cooking and washing up of course.

ReadySaltedSquares · 11/10/2026 17:59

It’s DH’s choice tonight as he’s been away (work not fun) and he wants blooming beef stew and dumplings. SIGH.

if it was down to me it would either be:

  • toad in the hole with mash and gravy and veg
  • roast beef, roast tatos, yorkie, veg, pigs in blankets and gravy

my jeans doing up, DH is probably doing me a favour as I have no self control with a roast 😆

familyissues12345 · 11/10/2026 18:00

Meat eaters are having gammon, cauliflower cheese, roast carrots/parsnips, mash and Yorkshire puds.

I’ll have all bar the gammon, which will be replaced with veggie sausages
