DH is vegetarian so he is having roasted potatos, roasted whole onions with mixed herbs, butternut squash topped with crushed walnuts and a drizzle of honey, creamed leeks, peas, and cranberry sauce.

DCs and I are not vegetarian so we are having the above plus roasted marinated chicken drumsticks.

I cannot wait!!

Not a roast but I am making a vat of beef in beer, we'll have tonight with baked spuds and green veg, and I'll freeze 5 portions for two and it will do a quick mid week meal for five weeks.

1.2 k of braising steak
Onions
Carrots
Celery
Mushrooms
Beer
Beef stock.

All I need to do is lift my bum from the sofa off MNet and get on with it.

I am having brisket but with this recipe will do us twice, It is my favourite Sunday dinner.

Today will be my first roast-type meal of the season:

Steak & stout stew with a couple of small cheese scone dumplings (it’s my favourite dish from Cook)
Roast potatoes
Yorkshire pudding
Petit pois
Carrots
Plenty of gravy

Really looking forward to it

Allthepictureframes · 11/10/2026 13:22

Roast chicken, stuffing, mash potatoes, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, tender stem broccoli, green beans, baby carrots, cheesy leeks, gravy.
Followed by Cherry crumble and custard. All home made.
And no, you CANNOT buy Yorkshire Puddings. Ever. They are universally shite.
If yours aren’t coming out right, you’ve either not used enough eggs or your oven/fat isn’t hot enough.

yes!

It's gorgeous. I do medium to large ones. I peel the skin off, then drizzle olive oil, scatter mixed herbs and then roast until soft. Usually about 20-30 minutes (I do everything on auto pilot so not sure exactly). It is truly lovely and delicious. My mother used to do it. DH was Hmm first time I did it but he is a convert now.

Drizzled with a balsamic glaze just before eating.....sounds divine!

(And makes me think of French onion soup) 😋

AmberVerdigris · 11/10/2026 13:27

Stuffed pork steak sounds delicious. Stupid question, how do u stuff a pork steak? Presume it needs to be thick?

Get the pork steak and flatten it out with a rolling pin as much as you can. Then stuff and roll it back together and tie with the butcher twine. Cooks faster than an average roast too.

MantleStatue · 11/10/2026 13:46

I love chephers pie and cottage pie. Sadly I am the only one who does.... I might go wild this week and make one for myself... it's literally been years

Roast pork with stuffing, roast potatoes, mashed swede, broccoli, bread sauce (which I know isn’t traditional but I don’t care!). Can’t wait 😋

I’ve never thought of bread sauce with pork. What a cracking idea or should that be a crackling idea

I bloody love sprouts, they’re my favourite veg

Do you mean the butternut squash? I just halve the squash, then put it in the oven on low while I prep everything else. The when a bit soft I roll crushed walnuts in with panko crumbs and stuff the centre. Sometimes I include a bit of blue cheese, but not today because he had cheese for dinner last night and had indigestion Grin. Then I top with walnuts, cook then drizzle with honey as it comes out. I have in the past made up a kind of risotto with blue cheese and sultanas and stuff that in the centre of the squash as well.
