Jews nine times more likely than Muslims to be victims of hate crimes

Jewish people are nine times more likely than Muslims to be victims of hate crime, according to the latest Home Office data.

The figures reveal that Jewish people faced hate crimes at a rate of 116.5 offences per 10,000 people last year, compared with 13.3 per 10,000 for Muslims.

Official data also show that racially and religiously motivated hate crime recorded by police hit record highs.

Religious hate crimes targeting Jewish people were up by 10 per cent from the year before, to 3,162, while crimes against Muslims rose by 15 per cent, to 5,132.

The latest Home Office data were published a day after a number of arrests were made at protests and demonstrations in London on the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks.

The antisemitism is shocking and brazen.

I thought it was consigned to history, but it has bubbled up.

Some folks seem to blame Muslim immigration, but there is plenty of home-grown antisemitism too.

One of the most awful things is the reporting in the Guardian which states that there were 5132 attacks against Muslims and 3162 attacks against Jews. Thus giving the impression that the Muslim community was under greater attack.
What they failed to mention is that the UK Jewish population is approximately 292,000 whilst the Muslim population is approximately 4 million!
Am I the only one who thinks that is really disgraceful reporting?

No but it's the Guardian. I sadly am not surprised by Jews being more victimised. Through history the Jews have been targeted for no good reason. I was on a cruise ship when Jews were attacked at ausic festival and taken hostages. A Jewish family prayed every day before they are. One day I went to join them in prayer. I felt so bad for them.

Seriously I don't think anybody expected someone to jump in with but but but what about the pals

Pretty sure no pals in the UK are getting attacked in lage numbers verbally and physically like Jewish people are, which is the subject of the conversation happening. However please corrme if I am wrong. What you don't think we all know what is happening in the middle East.

I am Jewish and not religious because most Jews aren't religious are they. Yet people are still fuckwitts towards Jews.

Not sure your argument about religion holds up. However yes a more peaceful world one day would be great I agree.

So @Cheese55 do you also think Muslims need to be more vocal about Muslims persecuting Christians as they are across the Middle East and Africa or they deserve to be attacked or is it just Jews that need to critique their fellow religionists?

During the height of the ISIS attacks and the threat of those there was often newspaper articles and also threads on here saying that Muslims had to be more vocal about condemning the attacks.

I just don’t get it. I live in an area with plenty of Jews of all types ; orthodox and not etc and everything in the middle. They are not a majority taking over areas etc
They never seem to push beliefs on others. They just co exist in the blend of our urban area. We all have our own cultures and ways. Why anyone would do this is beyond me

I remember seeing a comment where somebody said their Jewish child was being harassed at school over Gaza. One response was ‘well what do you expect, it must be very triggering for them to see Muslims being exterminated in this way’.

I asked whether that meant Islamophobia was acceptable after 9/11, they never responded.
