Mummy when you was fat.

This time last year i was 14 stone.
I often had stess incontinence, I couldn't walk up stairs without getting breathless. I couldn't run if I tried I would gasp for breath and vomit. Walking was very slow.

Now I'm 8st 10. And I can get up the stairs without getting breathless. I can now walk with a good fast pace. I can have little races with ds. I'm not struggling with breathlessness and vomiting. No bladder issues.I feel younger physically.

Ds said to me mummy do you remember when you was fat and you breathed fast and would be sick 🥺. Thats what made me reflect

Jesus Christ.

He's not the Messiah, he's a very naught boy!

(Sorry, couldn't help myself. If you're too young to get the reference, it's Monty Python's Life of Brian.)

Well done on your weight loss 👏.

I am currently 5 foot 7, medium build - and I weigh 16 stone 1. Too big, obviously and I’m taking steps to lose weight. I was 17.1, so I’m not in denial.

But I don’t gasp, walk slow, vomit or anything like that. I don’t actually feel physically bad but at nearly 40 i appreciate I still have time. No joint pain, healthy bloods and sugars, normal to low BP. I don’t have incontinence despite 3 vaginal births. I don’t like being fat but I’ve never suffered from being fat.

Anyway - 1 stone down, 5 to go.

When did you start taking the tablets OP? Are you in the UK?

cartagenagina · 08/10/2026 13:31

I would be very vexed if my child said when you was fat, rather than when you were fat.

I may have missed the point of the thread… 😆

runnerducky · 08/10/2026 13:36

Well done OP! I’ve gone from 15 stone to 9 stone in the last few years. It’s life-changing. Being able to run after and be active with my 7yo and 4yo is brilliant. I was carrying too much weight before to be able to run longer distances, my knees would ache, I wouldn’t have been able to go up a climbing wall with them for example - physically able of a sort maybe but I would have been too embarrassed because of how out of shape I was. I never realised how much stuff I said no to or found excuses not to do until I lost the weight and now say yes to it all.

I think modelling a healthy active lifestyle is one of the most important things we can do for our kids. I already see my kids are fitter than a lot of their peers.

How old is DS? What a good memory he has given his current speech level

That has to be the bitchiest comment I've ever seen on here.

Minasama · 08/10/2026 13:44

Good for you!! It can’t have been easy. I really admire people who manage to lose significant weight. Enjoy feeling better!!

Edited

Yeah I didn't realise how bad it was. I blamed it on things like low iron. And I think because i was living it and hiw gradual it is over the years . You don't realise. I only discovered i could run a few days ago. Me and ds have little races. I mean little like lamp post to lamp post. But its better than nothing. I have been walking alot as well. Ds likes it. He sees it as us spending time together 🥰.

Well done on the climbing wall. I could never do that i will stick lamp post to lamp post 😅

Congrats on the weight loss and its great you feel so much better.

I assume you correct your son's grammar considering he is 11?

It's commonly used in Essex and London/Estuary English.

CandyCrushLevel14809 · 08/10/2026 13:58

Do you have loads of loose skin or low muscle tone now, OP?

I'm definitely weaker than before. Thats my own doing though for not excerising. I should have been working on that at the time. So I'm trying now. Bingo wings don't look great 😔. I do have a bit of loose skin. On my stomach area but not much.

With massive help of tablets. I wouldn't have done it Without them to be honest.

That's amazing!

Which tablets?

Favouritefruits · 08/10/2026 14:17

What a ridiculous thing to say just because a child said something grammatically incorrect.

Seriously @Poppingbydo you feel better?

It may be a regional variance and it doesn't need 'correcting'. Just like I don't correct my children when they say 'owt' or 'nowt'.
