Mummy when you was fat.

This time last year i was 14 stone.
I often had stess incontinence, I couldn't walk up stairs without getting breathless. I couldn't run if I tried I would gasp for breath and vomit. Walking was very slow.

Now I'm 8st 10. And I can get up the stairs without getting breathless. I can now walk with a good fast pace. I can have little races with ds. I'm not struggling with breathlessness and vomiting. No bladder issues.I feel younger physically.

Ds said to me mummy do you remember when you was fat and you breathed fast and would be sick 🥺. Thats what made me reflect

Congratulations, OP. Life sounds so much better for you now. Longterm your health should be better and great you can run around playing with your little one.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but you said tablets helped. Do you still need to take them, or have worked out how to manage things yourself?

Caterina99 · 08/10/2026 10:57

Amazing achievement OP.

can I ask what tablets? I’m not being sick or gasping for breath but I could definitely do with dropping a couple of stone. Just need to get my head in the game and get on with it…

It isn’t always as easy as “working out how to manage things yourself”. Obesity is a medical condition with complex causes, it isn’t all down to a lack of intelligence or self discipline. Hormones play a huge part.

Well done OP. I was 15.5 stone a year ago, now down to 11.5, so I’m not doing quite as well as you but mounjaro has genuinely changed my life and I feel a million times better.

But some people do work out how to manage it themselves.

I think that’s why the pp was just asking the OP if she did.

How old is DS? What a good memory he has given his current speech levels.

Presume you have also been exercising as well since I don't think you can stop puking when you run just by losing weight. I used to be 17 stone and could run for the bus quite easily.

What kind of pills was it? Was it the ones that somebody is starting lots of threads about this morning?

What a ridiculous thing to say just because a child said something grammatically incorrect.

I'm still taking them. To be honest I worry about not having them. I worry about putting it back on without them. But I just hope it won't feel hopeless because I have lost and don't feel so bad about myself. Like I'm starting of in a better place? I don't think i have a clear answer though

Sorry, OP. I think it's great what you've achieved. Obviously I'm interested to know if you still need the tablets, but maybe what I meant to ask us how you're coping moving forwards?

I didn't mind being asked. It is a bit of a worry.

Glad its going well for you. And you are doing well for what works for your body. We are all different. Its a big change for the good 😀

Thanks OP. I probably was a bit quick off the draw. Weight and obesity are just such complicated and emotive topics.

He's 11. The issue for me when running was the weight I would get breathless and chuck up. It would depend on how breathless I got though. But I bjusy know its completely stopped since loosing weight as for other threads I haven't checked any I just posted what I was thinking

I often do but he doesn't remember. Hes autistic and has moderate language disorder.
