Cadbury's milk tray - what happened?

Was given one as a present. A nice thought but ........ Every flavour tastes exactly the same, no fruit flavour in the strawberry etc. Just generic vaguely chocolate-y shapes Filled with the same sweet paste. Well OK the nut ones were slightly crunchy.

It's a travesty of how they used to be - I won't buy them and will try to make sure nobody gives them to me again. Yuck! What a shame they've been ruined.

Cadbury is generally crap these days.

Just overly sweet and oily rather than creamy.

I saw an ad on FB of an independent chocolatier who used to work for Cadbury and their original chocolate balls are supposed to be a very close recipe to old DM.

I might have to try and report back.

For YOU GUYS, obviously.

It's a thankless task but somebody's got to do it 😁

I was looking forward to Tony's when it came out, but was disappointed. Maybe I'd hyped it up too much in my head, like when I read The Pursuit of Love.

Strangely, some of the best chocolate I've had for a while is Hotel Chocolate's vegan attempt at milk chocolate. Really nice but very expensive.

The issue is that only people past a certain age know how good it all used to taste.
Younger people like the crap that it is now

And if you read Ultra-Processed People it's clear why. And it's addictive!

It's hard to get a decent assorted box of chocolates anywhere. Everything has become so unbearably sweet and the world has gone truffle mad. Every kind of truffle filling you can think of from orange to champagne but they all taste the same. I used to like orange, coffee and strawberry creams for example. I guess people's tastes have changed.

Pick n mix lindor is lovely, if you can find it. We have one in our Sainsburys store.

I'll be honest> I thought Tony's was another US brand so I gave it a wide berth.

Cheap ingredients, hardly any actual cocoa, seed oils. All tasteless oily dreadfulness.

I'm still not over the demise of Terry's All Gold in dark chocolate.

2020 was a terrible year. The demise of Terry's All Gold completely.

The only boxed chocolates I ever liked.

They’re awful, tastes like cooking chocolate.
I had a purple yorkie for the first time in 30 years and it was so small and tasteless.

Chicolate is ruined for me, I don’t like the posh stuff.

I had some Minstrels the other day which I thought were still fairly decent. Or maybe wishful thinking overrode my taste buds.

That sounds tempting. I rarely go to Sainsburys so will have to investigate. Thanks!

I also wonder who buys Cadbury’s - they surely don’t sell as much as they used to. My DC buys the ones with Oreo sometimes but usually will just get something from Lidl. I would still buy if it didn’t taste minging.

I buy Diary Milk Caramilk, Caramac was my favourite but then Nestle discontinued it!
I don’t buy Roses anymore and they used to be my favourite!!!

I still quite like Galaxy.

Try M&S Blonde chocolate. It’s very nice!
