Mid-terms looming, approval falling, prices rising, wars ongoing - Ping Ping and Fu Shuang must be wondering what heinous crime they committed to be banished chosen as envoys of friendship between China and USA. 🐼🐼

Hey look. Goerbells Barbie has a new job.

“I look forward to bringing my unique perspective from my experience as White House Press Secretary, along with the same energy and candor that defined my tenure, to Fox’s millions of viewers across their many platforms,”

Crystal ball not needed then.

Karoline Leavitt to join Fox News as contributor - POLITICO

“Karoline is one of the best and most effective communicators around. Everybody at the White House is thrilled she has this opportunity to speak to the FOX News audience about President Trump’s successful agenda and highlight all the hard work this Administration has done for the American people,” White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement.

Hang on a moment. Did the WH communications director really say that ? Lets double check... yup. He did. Erm... is that not what she did before ? Propaganda. Hmm.

Has anyone been following the increasingly large list of contaminated foodstuffs the FDA has recalled. I am particularly fond of the attempt by factpostnews on Twitter to match pictures of RFK to the recalled foodstuffs.

here he is as tuna, chocolate ice cream and Gatorade.

Those pics are hilarious!

Despite the serious subject.

I think the question is more WTF were they doing playing with plague in that lab. Because it is treatable now usually. If it’s just normal plague it shouldn’t be an issue. If they’d been fiddling with it who knows.

Hundreds of thousand laboratories globally hold viruses and bacterial* infections, the latter being useful for developing new antibiotics.

My own thoughts is that It could be personal sabotage/murder if it escapes because these labs have extremely high levels of safety - though, caveat, sometimes to cut costs to increase profits can lead to a slacking of safety protocols.

Hundreds of labs do. I am slightly suspicious of Russian labs having those things given I don’t trust them not to be attempting to make bioweapons with them.

@PerkingFaintly they’ve been posting one for every recall for at least a month now. And there have been a lot of recalls. The ice cream and the Gatorade are both from today I think. I imagine it’s going to turn out that tight rules and inspectors were there for a reason and that profit making companies might take short cuts if there are no rules.

placemats · 05/10/2026 22:53

There's only 59 high level security labs globally, half of which are in Europe

Globally there's hundreds of thousands labs with low level security that deal with viruses and bacteria such as the common cold and e coli.

"Right lads. United front right. We have to all say the same thing about Fairford.", appears not to have been said.

Rubio -

“The only reason why you guys are focused on how many planes are at Fairford is because of the threat that happened last week. But it’s not unusual to see rotations happen and movement of assets to different parts of the world based on exercises, redeployments, people changing out and new people coming in, new planes coming in, old planes going out,”

Vance-

“I think that we’re going to be as careful as we possibly can be,We do feel with some confidence that the Iranians are, you know, they’re trying to do what the Iranian state has done for 49 years, which is engage in acts of terrorism against the United States and against a lot of other people as well.”

Trump-

“No, but there were some threats and rather than tempting the enemy, we’ll capture the enemy and beat the enemy. But why should we keep them there? So we moved them around a little bit, not very far.”

Now. Here is something fascinating. That Trump quote above, lifted that from The Mirror. Sky has the same.

But CNN, same quote, except it's not.

“I think we can say that — I mean, they didn’t fly out by accident, There were some threats, and rather than tempting the enemy, we’ll capture the enemy and beat the enemy. But why should we leave them there? So we moved them around a little bit.”

CNN dropped the " not very far.” Part. In other words, CNN left the dumb bit out. The base they have gone to, In South Dakota, is about 4500 miles. from Fairford. And people wonder how the dumb fuck gets elected. Not far ? It's a fifth of the world away. I am sure Trump is a flat earther.

Now. What about the MINISTER OF WAR, Kegsbreath? What has he said ?

Genuine question. What has he said ? I can't find it on my web.

Note to self. If I want to stage a photo of a crumbling building, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, sprinkle random building waste, and a bucket of garden soil around. Especially if it looks like it has been poured from a bucket.

I wonder if Natalie has a bucket in her broom cupboard where she lives ?

I wouldn't put it past Russia to have secret bioweapon type labs. The thing that makes this more likely to me is that Russia was at one point yapping about the Hunter Biden having secret bio-weapon labs in Ukraine.

Apparently the pneumonic version is not very susceptible to antibiotics and has a very high mortality rate. They could be looking at it for good or bad reasons.

I remember that. I recall that was Russia throwing everything it could into their "war justification pot". I also recall reading that Ukraine does indeed have loads of labs. Near every country does. Often attached to a university, and often because of a risk in the area.

For Ukraine, I recall stuff about swine fever. Because Ukraine has a lot of pig farms. And that countries with the same sort of agri product, and risk, will also have such labs, and they will be, or should be, talking to each other.

This Russia lab does not worry me, because I saw where it is, close to Mongolia, and Mongolia does have cases of plague each year. Because of some furry animal that lives there. So they have the lab to make sure they understand it, and to check it does not go from small furry animal to big, farmed animal, or people.

Tin hat now. That was an odd thing with the Covid thing. Because the lab was so far from the natural risk. But that can sort of be explained because of how big a risk it was. So they attached it to an existing national lab. But at the same times... oops.. no...

I remember thinking of it in terms of fish. Scotland has a big farmed fish industry. And the University of Stirling has a top fish department. So likely they also have an attached fish disease lab, or at least one at another facility close. And Scotland also has a wild Haggis industry. So to me, it makes sense putting the haggis fever lab with the fish disease lab. What would surprise me, is if the Haggis fever lab was in Hampshire. Because Hampshire has no wild Haggis. Or tame ones, come to that. The hills are the wrong shape and are too wee.

Mmmmmm.... Haggis.

They have stared into the face of what the UK can deliver - a bunch of yokels who are so hardened they give themselves in - and decided it was to much for them.

Alternatively, it's a way to avoid being told "no" by the UK in whatever they have planned.

I suspect Tehran will be in increased alert now they know that.

I'm doubling down on this. The US wanted to use - or have the option - of using these bombers to attack Iran. And rather than risk a spat that could spread (I can hear other countries saying "What ? We can say no ?", they were "discretely" removed.

Less so because of fears of what the UK government might do, and more because of the logistical impossibility of securing airbases that cover half a county.

I never went to Greenham, but I knew a few who did.

REP22 · 06/10/2026 11:14

One of the books I studied for my English finals was The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams. On the surface, it's an anthropomorphic tale about two dogs who escape from a scientific research lab, where they've been horribly treated, and their attempts to survive in the countryside.

But it's also about how public hysteria can be easily whipped up by talk of plague (a journalist whips up a frenzy about how plague was being studied/developed in the lab from which the dogs escape). It was written in 1982. But I can see echoes forming. Plague hysteria makes for very effective population control.

It's when lab technicians are keeping their sandwiches in the same fridge as the viruses and bacteria that I tend to get a bit of a grue.

Yes that's gross 🤢 🤧

Obviously you'd be nuts to release a deadly virus into the human population. Getting a payment for it or an ideological attack doesn't cut it for me. Tend towards the prosaic revenge of a fellow worker or management.

This morning the news was that Dennis Hastert died. Now it's Jim Bakker. What with Lindey Graham recently, Trump must be a bit maudlin I would imagine.

Elaine Chow will be ok though. Likely on a shopping spree with her designer cooler bag and a crack harvesting medical team.

I beg you to pause and have a thought about them though. I just have. And no matter what, I can't think think of any passed repubs that were either not corrupt as fuck or a total war hawk.

Hastert was particuarly bad FFS. A molester. A sex abuser. And yet he stood at the podium pontificating, after what HE DONE. FFS.

Hastert was a piece of shit. Mostly for his sexual crimes and 'hush money' to cover them up, but also for being so anti-union.

Scrotus loves ordering the flag lowered. I wonder if he'll order it lowered for Hastert or if cooler heads (that may contain actual brains) will prevail.

anti-union.

The US is a case study in how promoting the cult of the individual is a very efficient way to eradicate the rights of the mass.
