Mid-terms looming, approval falling, prices rising, wars ongoing - Ping Ping and Fu Shuang must be wondering what heinous crime they committed to be banished chosen as envoys of friendship between China and USA. 🐼🐼

Interesting to read from several commentators that following Ukraine’s strikes on 3 Russian “data centres” the number of bot accounts posting has fallen off a cliff.

Speculation that is also part of the reason Trump is gunning for Zelenskyy as the accounts calling him and his goons out are now getting more traction!

I noted on another thread that less Russian bots is a tiny energy saving for the UK, as servers use that bit less electricity to counter attacks

I've just spotted that Pope Leo XIV wrote this on X yesterday
"Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers."

You would not believe the horrible responses he got from numerous so-called Christians, whom I can only assume are Trumptards. Absolutely vile.

Spandauer · 12/10/2026 13:20

Well, in the spirit of those Trumptard responses, I do so wish someone would remove the gigantic cancerous nodule that's currently taking up space in the Oval Office.

No anaesthetic necessary.

I think following medical advice - or the notion that anyone would - is anathema to them.

Remember how pig stupid they are.

The ones that exist, of course. We have no idea how many bots have entered the chat to make MAGArats look stupid.

It was never 'illegal' to have a home birth 'in the USA' under federal law. Laws governing home births are made by individual states, not the federal govt.

Different states did and do have different requirements for who can attend a birth.

Nebraska's is the strictest; only an MD can attend a home birth. The rest of the states laws vary as to who can attend a home birth, but they all require some kind of licensure or certification.

In my state (CA) you must be either a certified nurse midwife or a licensed midwife.

Edited

Thanks. I read about this back in the very early eighties when I came across a book called Spiritual Midwifery (I was expecting a first child and reading up lots of stuff). It was about just what it says on the cover... and included stuff about why they'd founded a commune for people to give birth in, if they could get there in time, because home-birth was difficult and expensive to arrange. (The author mentioned in passing that they also had to collect some rubbish from their neighbours every week so the dustbins were not empty; it was an offence to put out no garbage, apparently. That came under "weird laws we have to cope with", and I may well have become confused about what law was applied by whom. I think the state they settled in was Tennessee.) The first few pages were pictures of all the people who lived there and were midwives, and made my mother say "I'm sure they are all wonderful people, but I should think after living there for more than about a week you'd want to strangle some or all of them." – they were a bit defiant-ex-hippy. But the advice was good and calmed me down a lot.

Llttledrummergirl · 12/10/2026 14:20

Depending on the state I would have been in trouble.

Ds2 arrived 4.5 weeks early and so quickly I delivered him while dh was calling the ambulance. It felt like forever before he took his first breath.
I am glad I live in a civilised country.

Scrotus' latest poll numbers via CNN
(I know, we don't put a lot of faith in polls and they don't translate into votes. But the numbers still make me smile)

Below is a list of all the polls

It makes me laugh that whenever he is questioned about his tanking 'popularity' he speaks over the reporter "My numbers are great. You're fake news". Nats must be holding the graphs upside down.

Didn't ambassadors used to be people who had a certain level of integrity and were given the position because they were above the scrum, or is that an innocent but inaccurate memory? I don't even know any more.
Seems horribly grubby and grabby. Trump probably quite likes it.

Generally civil service/military types but the US gave famous people an Ambassadorship. Shirley Temple for example and Pamela Harriman (hers is a fantastic story). But you were expected to represent your Country not view is as an opportunity to travel with Diplomatic Immunity whilst grifting. No one is going to be looking in your luggage

AcrossthePond55 · 12/10/2026 14:35

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

DS1 was born in the early '80s too. I remember asking my OB/Gyn about home birth and he basically said "Don't be ridiculous". Of course at 28 I was considered right on the cusp of an 'elderly' primigravida lol. DS arrived at 33 wks so even if I'd been able to have a home birth premature labour would have put me in the hospital anyway. Today home births account for less than 2% of births in the US, although that's not too different from the UK's just over 2%.

@Littledrummergirl

That must have been scary! I had a friend who delivered her 2nd in a pick up truck on the way to the hospital. Her panicked DH was banging on the door of the house they were in front and shouting 'help!' but the old lady wouldn't open the door. Luckily she dialed 911 and reported a 'crazy man' trying to get in her house. The baby was born just before they got there.

Sorry for the derail y'all. Now back to our regular programme.

Pigs are really quite intelligent.

Aye, it's a bad simile.

However the problem comes when you try to think of a suitable animal for the insult. And frankly a lot of MAGArats are so stupid that even an ant looks superior in intelligence. At least ants don't make anteaters queen.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/10/2026 15:46

They have the intelligence and actual charm of a koala? As far as I know these have a very small ratio of brain to body by weight: 2%. On the other hand, a cat has less: 1%, and they are definitely charming much of the time, which koalas mostly are not.

Or the intelligence of a jerboa, which notoriously eat their own faeces.

I am sure were I to trawl through the annals of zoology (or is it more biology) I could find examples of species that propagate by getting the 80% of the thickest to sacrifice themselves for the 20% in charge.

Honeybees possibly ? If we equate MAGA voters with drones ?

Look can we not harm flora and fauna by comparing the wonderful diversity of both to the human body waste that is the current POTUS.

Good point, well made.

Persephonia1966 · 12/10/2026 17:09

Hippos are wonderful animals in lots of ways but male hippos assert dominance by pooing and using their tails like little helicopters to spread their shit across as wide an area as possible. This is so everyone knows what a big important alpha-male hippo they are!
While I don't think it's fair to compare them overall to people for some reason I do think of them when I see flurries of obnoxious X or truthsocial posts from some of the richest/most powerful men on the planet.

Evenstar · 12/10/2026 17:49

I don’t know about intelligence but I think this naked mole rat would be approximately as attractive as the 🍊🤡

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/10/2026 17:54

Naked mole rats have a low encephalization quotient, but are apparently surprisingly intelligent if that is taken into account.

And like the repulsive Fart, they are quite long-lived. Which is more than many maga cultists are likely to be if they refuse vaccination and disapprove of medical care in general.

Evenstar · 12/10/2026 17:57

Thinking about at least they can’t speak and that would be a vast improvement for the 🤡

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/10/2026 18:05

Oh, but they do have rudimentary language! So the comparison with the Fart is even closer.

I love hedgehogs, but having had to look after a few

  • they do not learn at all
  • they shit in their own food bowl while eating
  • they walk through their water bowl while shitting
  • they do not wash
  • they are covered in fleas
superficially cute, actually grim

Both FB and the DM and even BBC comments sections have been sublime today. (I check in on the DM stuff to ascertain what absolute bollocks the morons around me are referring to on a daily basis). Probably the best thing that could have happened for the mid terms as MAGA make themselves look infinitely stupid. All the copy paste posts have gone. Oh and certain threads (and usernames) on here have gone magically quiet. Funny that.

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/10/2026 19:54

My Twitter feed is looking lovely at the moment. Haven’t seen a reform or MAGA post in days. Or a Robinson/Tommo supporter of a post about small boats come to think about it.

Turns out we didn’t need Musk to sell it we just needed to take out the data centres. Can we rush a rejoin the EU referendum through before they get them back up again?
