I was so upset and disturbed by the live-streaming the execution thing last night. It's like they're trying to come up with new ways to debase us as a country and as a society. I can only imagine how damaging live state sanctioned murder will be to already lost teenaged boys. Plus, it's stupid, stupid, stupid. If you're looking to make a martyr of someone, this seems like the perfect way to do it.

I'm hoping it won't actually happen.

@walllaw I completely agree, and the danger of influencing vulnerable young kids with state-sanctioned disturbing violence is awful. Not to mention already broken and violent adult men. I hope this man's lawyers are getting on the case fast and the courts will prevent this. Truly horrible.

@walllaw - it's horrific. I would suggest you don't read the thread in chat about it. There is a smattering of posts there defending the indefensible.

It makes me worry about what else is going on in the American military if the leaders are completely unmoored and saner voices have been purged.

The firing squad have to be anonymous. So will they be supplied with hoods.. the pointy sort ?

Will Trump and co start bombing Afghanistan again when they become outraged at the recruitment video the Taliban make and distribute? The execution vid overlaid with "Glory to the Martyr" music and Islamic prayers.

I expect Kegsbreath will do something really stupid. Like say " May the Lord Jesus have mercy on your soul", or something like that, that will outrage Muslims worldwide. And he will probably outrage Christians too... " It's what Jesus would have done...", sort of comment. " THE USA IS A CHRISTIAN NATION".

And of course, Agent Orange will TRUTH the video out too. With some crass comment.

If they must give it to a Trump, then perhaps Melania would be a better choice, she is at least being given some credit for returning some kidnapped children to Ukraine.

I'm in a different time zone, so before catching up on the news, my prediction is no Nobel Peace Prize for Trump despite nominations.
In much the same way that Fashion as a worst dressed person award, Nobel needs to have the opposite of the Peace Prize award. Then Trump can claim he won a Nobel award that included the word 'peace'.
