Fairford latest: Counter terror police investigating if Iran is linked to RAF base bomb plot, Sky News understands | UK News | Sky News https://share.google/cU4wjxGZBYQtIb3sx

I couldn't find a thread on this breaking news. How awful for everyone involved.

The figures are from the Government's website or do you think I have made that up. Yes I know it's hard to believe that 1655 migrants have crossed in just 6 days, but unfortunately it's true.

And it’s also true that over the year numbers are down. If I normally eat a bar of chocolate every day, but I don’t eat any for 10 days then on the 11th eat 4, while it’s not great for my health that day it’s still an overall reduction.

Can you also agree that small boat crossings are down by over 42%?

From the Government's website.

That would be the logical conclusion. But logic seems to be persona non grata on this thread.

For 'logical' read 'naively swallowing the line they are trying to spin to the public this time'.

IdentifyingAsAWoollyMammoth · 28/09/2026 16:33

Stealing petrol or more specifically diesel seems most likely. Thefts for that always skyrocket when fuel prices rise and at the moment they're sky high and diesel is going to go higher.

This will be why they had drums and why one of the vans had "Fuel2U" on it, as an attempt at looking relatively kosher.

If that is the case, as it clearly isn't terror related due to them being bailed, the only link to Iran is Trump's bloody moronic war (follow the money on that one).

Honestly? As I said I no longer have faith in the authorities.
I naively used to think as you do, that there must be a legitimate reason for actions like this. I no longer think like that. So many things are happening that are absolutely unfathomable to me. Perhaps more transparency is needed. I'm sick of being lied to.

What lies have you been told? It all seems pretty transparent so far, even if we don’t have the full info to understand every step (because investigations are ongoing). 5 men were arrested. They are British citizens from London. They’ve been released on bail.

Yes clearly petty criminals. How stupid to be acting suspiciously near a military base.

Didn't they evacuate 85 homes?? This is absolutely mental.

You really think that of there was a shred of evidence these men were terrorists they would have been let out on bail? You think the "authorities" actively want to let terrorist attacks happen?

placemats · 28/09/2026 16:34

EasternStandard · 28/09/2026 16:30

There you go. Domestic policy determines numbers. We would have the same with similar hardline policies.

What do you not understand about the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland being no longer a member of the EU and geography?

For 'logical' read 'naively swallowing the line they are trying to spin to the public this time'.

Are you suggesting the government/police are lying and have deliberately released people they know to be terrorists?

Neddevine · 28/09/2026 16:35

Shudacudawuda · 28/09/2026 16:32

For 'logical' read 'naively swallowing the line they are trying to spin to the public this time'.

So every time someone is arrested, not charged and then bailed in this country, that constitutes as the authorities/government/police 'spinning a line' to the public, does it?

TemperanceWest · 28/09/2026 16:33

I think the authorities are that incompetent, yes.
I also think there is more to this than we are being told.

EasternStandard · 28/09/2026 16:36

placemats · 28/09/2026 16:34

What do you not understand about the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland being no longer a member of the EU and geography?

I think you’re not understanding tbf.

Some EU countries have similar softer policies and higher numbers, others are hardline and have much lower numbers. It’s unrelated to Brexit.

inamarina · 28/09/2026 16:36

EasternStandard · 28/09/2026 16:11

Not at all otherwise you’d not be seeing similar in the EU. It’s domestic policy that changes it.

This. Countries like Germany also struggle.

ShakyBake · 28/09/2026 16:36

I find it incredible how they can be released on bail

However there isn't more to this than we're being told. And if there was then you would have no idea what that was.

There's no point in speculation.

Eta Anyway I'm now going to watch EastEnders, which has more basis in reality than your speculations.

But that wouldn’t be incompetence, woukd it? To have evidence of terrorist activity and still to bail would be deliberate malevolence. And to do it so publicly? What would that be?
I think you’ve decided they are Islamic terrorists and will never believe otherwise, no matter what the actual facts of the case are.

Gloriia · 28/09/2026 16:37

TemperanceWest · 28/09/2026 16:34

Yes but you'd think they'd have some evidence of terrorism and obviously there wasn't any. All seems very odd.

Lifeomars · 28/09/2026 16:38

Raiderofthelostbattenburg · 28/09/2026 15:46

The amount of speculation, misinformation and conspiracy theories on this thread is genuinely terrifying. I swear if the internet had been around during the war, there would be have been people online expressing outrage that Bletchley Park weren't posting live updates while cracking the enigma code. This is a live counter terrorism investigation. The Prime Minister is chairing a COBRA meeting this afternoon, and presumably more public announcements will be made when the picture is clearer, or, if and when it is safe for the Counter Terrorism Police to do so.

My mum worked at Bletchley Park, she was very good at languages and was recruited from the sixth form. We only found this out when she retired and she never ever told us what she actually did because she had signed the Official Secrets Act and took that very seriously. I cannot imagine that level of restraint today, holding a secret for over 40 years because you have signed up to never ever disclose the nature of your work protecting your country

Exactly. They arrive here via the EU. Its nothing to do with Brexit.

If there was evidence of terrorist activity they wouldn’t be. It would literally be incredible, unbelievable.
Ergo, there is evidence of some other crime (as others have said, probably diesel theft) which makes it perfectly safe to bail them.

Shudacudawuda · 28/09/2026 16:39

cardibach · 28/09/2026 16:33

Lies about Brexit, lies about men being women, lies about covid, lies about Henry Nowak, lies about the grooming gangs, lies about Victor Calocane. If you follow current affairs you will know how much covering up is done, it appears to be par for the course.
You could even go back as far as Hillsborough to know how much those in charge will lie.
The result is, faith is lost. That's where I am.

Nuthatch26 · 28/09/2026 16:38

It most certainly has everything to do with Brexit.

ShakyBake · 28/09/2026 16:36

They'll have done background checks and found nothing. They'll have found nothing in the vans exept maybe nicked diesel. They absolutely would not have released them if there was whiff of radicalisation and any bomb making equipment.
