So I really hate fresh ginger in drinks/food but I absolutely love gingerbread and ginger nuts

I love aniseed balls but detest Ricard

love a piece of fresh coconut and dishes with coconut cream but anything else like sweets or cake with coconut I can’t bear

What do you love/hate?

(I’m not counting things like banana flavoured things because that doesn’t taste like banana as we know it)

I like whole raw strawberries, without any sugar or cream but can't stand strawberry jam, mousse, cheesecake, sweets or any strawberry-flavoured or strawberry-containing things. They just taste yukky and ...pink

I'm the exact opposite!

Tomato sauce literally makes me heave if I touch it but I love it on a McDonald's burger, it makes no sense and I physically couldn't eat on anything else.

Peachy2005 · 25/09/2026 21:48

Same with cheese: only like it melted. Otherwise find it 🤮 It must be somewhat common if there are a few of us here already!

Gonksmum · 25/09/2026 21:49

I can't eat fresh tomatoes or whole tinned ones, they have to be cooked down to a smooth sauce.

Onions - only well cooked beforehand in casseroles/ my beef rissoles. Don't really like to see or taste them! Similar with leeks.

Cheddar cheese melted only.

Ketchup - Heinz only but not on its own, just in a recipe or a cooked BBQ sauce.

queenofthewild · 25/09/2026 21:54

Love almonds. But ground almonds in a Bakewell tart or marzipan make me heave. Solid nuts only. Not powdery slimy monstrosities.

Dandeloosha · 25/09/2026 21:54

Hate mayo, except in coleslaw or tuna mayo.

Hate fruit on anything savoury except pomegranate seeds on everything (and lemon and lime on fish/chilli)

Blingismything · 25/09/2026 21:55

Like fresh strawberries but hate strawberry flavoured things like yoghurt or sweets.

Summer26woohoo · 25/09/2026 21:55

Carrots, raw in a salad.

Cooked carrots are rank.

Tuna steak, very lightly seared, is delicious.

Tuna in a can is revolting and I wouldn't even feed it to my cats.

I'm the opposite, love tuna from a tin, don't like fresh

Mapleunicorn · 25/09/2026 22:00

Absolutely love cherries. But anything cherry flavoured is revolting.

Love coffee, hate anything else coffee flavoured.
Yes to hot cheese, absolute no to cold.
Love most nuts, dislike peanut butter

Bit different and not sure it counts, but i can only eat butter on cold things like a scone, having it on toast or in a potato would make me retch

OttersOnAPlane · 25/09/2026 22:07

NChannnnge · 25/09/2026 21:33

Dislike sweetcorn unless it’s in tuna mayo. Or on the cob is bearable, but not flying around loose being icky and sweet.

Love corn on the cob, hate corn in every other form. Especially tuna mayo or on pizza.

Bernadinetta · 25/09/2026 22:11

I like raw broccoli as a crunchy crudité with dips but I can’t bear it boiled/steamed, like can’t even choke it down.

i don’t drink coffee but I do like tiramisu and coffee flavoured chocolates, to be honest it’s probably more the chocolate part and I would probably like a mocha if I drank one!

I love mint- gum, minty sweets, minty chocolate like aero, after eights but I don’t like mint sauce or fresh mint leaves like in a mojito.

Puhpuhpuhpuh · 25/09/2026 21:32

Eggs. Only in quiche or cake. Never hard or soft boiled, scrambled, poached, baked or omelettes or put atop anything at all.

I really hate quiche but like all the ingredients that make up a quiche 🤔🤔

Me too. I roasted a pan of almonds just yesterday and I'm very happily eating the last of them this evening. But bakewell tarts, marzipan etc are crimes against humanity.

HowardTJMoon · 25/09/2026 22:15

I love hazelnuts, brazil nuts, peanuts, pecans and so on. I also very much appreciate chocolate. But nuts in chocolate always taste appallingly stale.

Itsabeast · 25/09/2026 22:16

Drink far too much coffee but cannot stand coffee flavoured cake, biscuits or desserts.

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 25/09/2026 22:17

Love fish, absolutely hate a fish pie.
Agree with the coconut, hate it desiccated but love the milk in curry.

OnlyFrench · 25/09/2026 22:17

Cream - love it in savoury sauces, pasta etc, can’t bear it on or in sweet stuff

BeBesideTheSea · 25/09/2026 22:18

Helpmechooseausername · 25/09/2026 21:34

Love scrambled eggs, don't mind an omelette.

Boiled/poached/fried eggs are disgusting 🤢

And I knew someone who claimed to be very allergic to eggs. Except in cake. That's my kind of allergy 🤣

Edited

I am exactly (eggactly) the same. Love omelette or scrambled (but only if overcooked and quite dry); hate boiled, fried, poached, coddled eggs - make me feel properly sick.
