I can hear a man’s voice …..

i realise he’s probably talking about a you my dd is playing with in background
like a shop type toy

what would you make of that?

OP posts:
KilkennyCats · 24/09/2026 10:31

What are we supposed to make of it?

DearlyDiego · 24/09/2026 10:32

That they are meddlers and a risk to your marriage.

DearlyDiego · 24/09/2026 10:33

But if your husband tolerates this - you have a DH problem.

Shit stirring types

PowerRangerGoGo · 24/09/2026 10:35

So how would you handle this as all I’ve done is say no it was just me and dd, and you must have overheard her playing with shop toy

but I’m kinda suprised he asked me outright twice
not sure what to do next really

OP posts:
chirrupybird · 24/09/2026 10:38

I assume they told your DH later? Did he believe them or you?

Nuttyrubble · 24/09/2026 10:39

What are they like with you generally? Is this a one off or have they always been trouble causers?

PowerRangerGoGo · 24/09/2026 10:41

I told him about the conversation first and he pretty much just said oh
no real further comment.

its weird as he can’t really stand then and has a very surface level relationship with them, where they never talk about anything deep or below surface level
he feels like he hates his stepdad and that his mum prioritised a relationship over him as he hated his step dad from the first time he met him
so a lot of bad blood that’s gone one for years and years Before I was even on the scene

OP posts:
BugJuice · 24/09/2026 10:42

How did your DH react when they told him? What conversation have you and your DH had about it?

Your in-laws are meddling in your marriage. It needs a come to jesus talk with your husband and then one with his parents. Id nip this shit in the bud now before real problems start.

These people do not like you and you need to be aware of that.

LavenderDisco · 24/09/2026 10:43

Talk to your DH. Tell him what his parents accused you of. Tell him you won't tolerate it. Tell him to sort it out.

For myself I wouldn't have a relationship with these people. I wouldn't answer the phone or door to them. If we lived with an hour of them, I'd want to make plans to move away

PowerRangerGoGo · 24/09/2026 10:43

They seemed ok with me, until I was married, not sureness the marriage or the pg, as I was pg one month later
but as soon as I was married and pregnant, they became really rude and off
don’t know if it’s because they think they can ? Or they think they can get away with it now ?

OP posts:
NoisyMonster678 · 24/09/2026 10:44

They are paranoid and looking for trouble.

they became really rude and off
Why do you still have any contact with them?

Or they think they can get away with it now
Well you're allowing it, so clearly they can

Stop being a pushover

Seriously, they've shown you who they are. Believe them.

GoodGirlFaith · 24/09/2026 10:47

I would have nothing to do with this man, OP. I certainly would not take any further phone calls from him.

I would be extremely angry about this.

Honestly, I'm old and I have seen it all. In your shoes and given the background you describe regarding your DH, I would stop interacting with them at all, changing your LL number and blocking them. If DH wants to keep in touch then that's for him to manage himself but shit like this will be the thin end of a very unpleasant wedge. Cut this off at the head now. Zero tolerance approach.

I don’t know why, guess I feel sorry for dh or something
he doesn’t believe them in the slightest
but he’s not really bollocked them
For asking me that the way they did
esp the asking me twice part
he doenst seem to be able to have kind of difficult conversation with them at all, they are not remotely close at all

which I suppose while you think about it is odd, like why do you want to hang on to such looser you can’t stand
yet you won’t really have any difficult conversations with them either

Maybe channel the energy of a less agreeable person. Some people would say they’ve never been so insulted and refuse to have anything to do with PIL again giving zero fucks about how that was perceived by others. It’s an option. They don’t sound great and your DH keeps them at arms length by the sound of it so little to worry about if you freeze them out.

titchy · 24/09/2026 10:54

So in fact your pil haven’t told your dh you had a man round. Despite your thread title…

alcovecupboards · 24/09/2026 10:56

Don't bother calling them out but do have fun with it. Ask them to babysit (at yours) so you can host an orgy upstairs. Or ask the stepdad if he could help install a turnstile for you to make it easier. They're meddling, cheeky fucks and I would be treating them as the joke they are.

BugJuice · 24/09/2026 10:56

Did they actually tell your DH, as per your thread title? It’s unclear from your posts.

PowerRangerGoGo · 24/09/2026 10:56

Crazy thing is I’m the least likely person to cheat in the world and I’m at home with toddler

I’ve said she mil
can only come round when dh is there as why should I entertain her
and I’m not picking up the phone to them anymore

Think they tried to, but I told him first it was a toy they could hear so he didn’t listen to them, said no heard about the toy or something like that

I think I'd stop taking calls from them. Not your problem, let husband deal with his own parents.

It's none of anyone's business who's in your house with you.
