Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, with boy cat snuggled on my knee. He was in bed with me til I decided I was ready for a cuppa! Girl's gone back to bed with dd2 💤.

Today's new bed day 🥳 so plan is to get dressed when the washer's done, start dismantling the old one and shift the stuff from under it into the girls room for today. Then assemble it before bed time!

If it doesn't arrive by the time underneath is empty and old bed dis-assembled, I have a cave for a display at work to finish, a new crochet word project to work on, and several items I want to browse online for. So plenty to keep me busy! Dd2 has a little bit of homework left - she's been using college frees for it so far.

Dd1 got in at 4am, so I won't hear from her for hours yet.

I might treat us to takeaway for tea, depending how bed building goes. Then it'll be either book or crochet this evening. I haven't picked up my book all week, I've been that knackered after work!

What about all of you 🙂

good morning lucysmam and to u all I’m having a very slow start today with not much planned except to pop to dads house and collect a few things as it’s now been signed over to me so want to get mams books which I promised her I’d always keep so they will go in attic and a few bits and pieces then will potter about this afternoon and got grandson no 3 coming later Then will be settling Dwn ready for strictly . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Tiddlywinks63 · 19/09/2026 11:27

Good morning @lucysmam &all, the rain forecasted hasn’t arrived 🤷🏼‍♀️ so I have spent an hour in the garden gradually sorting out the borders. It’s a small garden but crammed with plants. I’m pleased with the bit I’ve done. I’ll tackle the pots and another border next.
I’m enjoying smoked salmon and avocado on toast, a real treat, with a milky coffee. I’ve concocted coronation chicken for dinner, we’ll have it with jacket potatoes. There’s apple and blackberry crumble for pudding.
i need to tidy up the stuff around my chair in the living room, decidedly untidy and messy (not dirty, just cluttered), put some craft stuff away.
I don’t have anything else planned so will see how it goes 😊

Bingeing online alday.

A quiet day after returning from touring Tuscany for 12 days. The washing line is full, am FaceTiming DS2 for a catchup and see where he’s at with grad job applications (currently on placement year/last year), a walk later with DH as it’s dry and something Chinesey for tea.

Simonjt · 19/09/2026 12:35

Good afternoon, its very dull here today, we all had our yearly eye tests this morning so we were all up and ready quite early.

Zero exciting plans for the rest of the day, so we’ll probably so some adulting and have a tidy and clean.

Have a nice saturday.

mindutopia · 19/09/2026 12:39

I dropped teen dd off for an all day charity hike with friends at 8am. 8 year old and I have chilled at home and made a pumpkin spice loaf cake and pumpkin whoopie pies (like pumpkin sandwich cookies with marshmallow creme in between). Dh home at midday from a work trip.

It’s very rainy and windy here today (poor dd on her hike!). Will probably potter about the house all afternoon and drink tea. Dh and ds may go out for a bit. Making pork chilli verde for dinner which takes 3-4 hours so will start that shortly.

frozendaisy · 19/09/2026 13:43

Afternoon afternoon afternoon
all early birds

I am slowly feeling normal again after drinking far too much wine a lovely catch up with friend last night

I now have a house to get presentable (all other household members out doing jobs for grandma and collecting shopping etc etc) after I think an early morning chase of the ball! For H to have a night out which I was informed (by another female partner) that they had decided to meet here first.

The kitchen looks like a revision room in Hogwarts with barely enough space to swing a chopping board and I don’t care what needs laundering but know in the back of my wine killed mind I need to get a jeans wash on and swill the blazer.

I don’t fell very self-induced well….

I want someone to make me home made biscuits, bring me tea with a plate of warm
biscuits, and say don’t worry about the jobs we got this.

But alas I am not actually in Hogwarts, because I reckon I could muster up the housework and cooking spells whilst flat - when our eldest was reading the Harry Potter books (say around 8/9 ish) he sighed once and said “I wish this was real” - nothing to do but let that feeling sit and say “yeah we’ve all felt that baby”
Haven’t the heart to tell him that feeling springs up from time to time it never goes away.

Oxo01 · 19/09/2026 14:12

You all are making me feel so lazy
I woke up at 7.20am but went back to sleep eventusrly woke up at 11
Sat drinking coffee, quick T/ call with daughter. Just had light lunch and still in my PJ's.
Nothing planned for rest of the day
Home is quiet tidy, no washing to do so will have a shower soon and have lazy night watching TV.

lucysmam · 19/09/2026 14:28

Lazy day. Lie in, watched the footie (WSL), watched an episode of La Brea. Will probably watch The Beast in Me later on with DH. Bit of reading. A sparkie is calling round later to quote on a job. Enjoy your weekend.

lucysmam · 19/09/2026 16:40

Yay! New bed is up! And very comfy 😊. Slightly regret king size since the girls have the bigger bed however, not really.

I'm just about to order takeaway - kebab I think. I'm knackered & cba to cook!

Hope you're all having a good day!

DD and DH went to IKEA to sort out a new wardrobe/chest of drawers unit for DD. I have already done this once and couldn't face it again so spent the day vacuuming and doing the bathrooms then went for a walk and got some sushi at M and S for lunch. When I got back from the walk, DS made me a cup of tea then headed out round the shops.
As I was on my own I then did a couple of hours work and it's now 5.30 - how did that happen?!

Morning! I have had a productive morning.

  • laundry done and hanging out
  • food shop done and put away (I do the shop and DP puts it all away
  • big pot of homemade vegetable soup made (just need to blend)
  • pot of spiced stewed apples made for breakfasts this week too
  • DP is cutting the grass
  • robot hoover is doing it’s thing and I’m having a cuppa

goin shopping and getting a manicure with Dd13 later and ds is off to a cubs camp.

Edited

@Kitchenbattle would you mind sharing your recipe for stewed apples please? We have some apples a friend gave us and I think stewing them down to eat over yoghurt or oatmeal is a good direction.

I’ll trade you recipes! Here’s the one pot orzo and asparagus recipe I’m using as a guide. https://skinnyspatula.com/orzo-asparagus-peas/

BTW, I couldn’t resist going shopping today because my schedule got rearranged. My Iceland friend call and collecting M and S deliveries will happen tomorrow. Currently I’m back in bed relaxing before starting on dinner.

One Pot Orzo with Asparagus and Peas – Skinny Spatula

This orzo with asparagus and peas is the creamiest, most delicious spring dish ever! Packed with greens and deliciously cheesy, this orzo primavera is made in one pot and ready in 30 minutes!

Late to the party. Hi all. Currently waiting for takeaway. Been out all day to Warwick castle with the Brownies. DH playing a gig and DD at a sleepover so house to myself!

lucysmam · 19/09/2026 18:53

@Judellie I think I need an Ikea trip for a wardrobe and drawer unit to free up some space in here 🙈. Were they successful?

@teaandtoastwithmarmite I haven't been to a gig in weeks! I hope they have an amazing night & good crowd 🎵.

@lucysmam you spend more time in or in bed in a bedroom than moving around kingsize sounds great

I have just now returned to being flat again after trying to make our Hogwarts revision/dumping ground kitchen “presentable” - men started to arrive I showed them the bowls with chicken drumsticks and potato wedges and have escaped upstairs

I am going back down once they go out to grill fish and make rice/onion/pea mix with a salad. Already cooked rice I am hoping the most I have to do is turn the fish and stir

And then I will flop

No one has baked me biscuits.

DilemmaDelilah · 19/09/2026 19:54

Good evening @lucysmam and everyone. I'm very late to the plate today!

I've had a bad back all week so took a couple of Solpadeine this morning, before getting down to sorting out my craft stuff and putting it in some nice boxes I bought last week. This is because I don't have enough cupboard space so it needs to go in boxes on shelves. I also used a couple of boxes I had had things stored in for a few years so I sorted those things out too, and collected some more stuff to go onto Vinted. It was a useful exercise as I unearthed quite a few things to throw away as well... I don't really need a collection of single earrings, for example!

Unfortunately Solpadeine contains codeine, which makes me very nauseous, so by lunchtime I was feeling very sick. At least there was a reason for it this time! I went to bed instead of having lunch in the hope I could sleep it off. So I'm all a bit disoriented today! Luckily I had no particular plans.

Hopefully I will get my act together earlier tomorrow.

Of course! Mine is very very simple. Chopped apple, and then I add in a teaspoon of garam masala and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Enough to coat them lightly and then I just add a half a cup of water. If I want more juice I add more water. No need for sugar or syrup. I eat it with yogurt and granola

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 19/09/2026 20:51

A pp has reminded me to do a meal plan - haven’t bothered for a few weeks & it’s been rubbish!

leavingonajetplane76 · 19/09/2026 21:05

exdp picked up ds and took him back to uni. I have to drive down Wednesday and take some kitchen appliances he forgot (he's in a shard house and it's 2 best mates) and bring him back for a dentist appointment. I told him under no circumstances can he miss the appointment!

I've been vegging on the sofa all day as I've had an upset stomach. Dp went over to do some work on our proprrrty ds1 is moving into. He came back in a mood as I didn't go over, but I ignored him abundantly he'd come around now. Why do men act like twats at time? lol

Judellie · 19/09/2026 22:35

Hi @lucysmam the wardrobe is being delivered on Wednesday and the person is arriving to build it on Friday so I think the plan has come together. Didn't actually know IKEA now have people to build their stuff!

@Kitchenbattle oh that’s interesting, the garam masala. That’s a twist I wasn’t expecting. I was going to use cinnamon, clove, and a bit of nutmeg. Maybe I’ll swap the nutmeg for a bit of cardamom instead. Thank you!

it’s totally unexpected but it’s so so good. I think most garam masala blends include nutmeg clove and cardamom yes (maybe star anise too) and I’m sure they already have cinnamon too. I love that it’s quick and easy and no added sugar yet sweet and tasty 🙌

One Dd is playing a football match. DH is taking her. The other won't emerge till shes dragged out if bed as ws out till late last night. Boys are at uni and my niece is with her mum. I'll probably clean and make a nice veggie meal later. Busy day

mondaytosunday · 20/09/2026 09:57

I’m lying in a bed in my DDs student house in Durham. The rooms are let out individually and this one is as yet unclaimed. It’s a seven hour drive so I had booked a hotel but she found out that one girl is not moving in til October (classes don’t start til October 5), the other one is away and this room empty so I’m camping out in it! I’ve used a t shirt for a pillowcase and my DD’s cosy throw (as my DD realised she’s only brought one set of sheets so no spare). Today we will do a food shop and pick up some bits to make her room look homely. It’s a decent sized house but she picked the box room (so small you can’t fit a wardrobe in it so she has the huge hall closet). Typical mish mash of furniture and very dated but well equipped and clean. The livingroom is a bit of a disaster with three weird ugly sofas (the photos they had throws covering them) varnished pine cathedral ceiling and I can’t see it being used much. House is a bit out of town and I do worry about the walk home after dark. Anyway after shopping there’s a park next door to wander around and maybe we’ll go out for lunch somewhere. I’m staying an extra night so we will try out the kitchen and watch a film in her laptop tonight. Then long drive back tomorrow!
