Anyone remember some parenting forums from way back?

There was babyworld which was quite sensible and had a live chat room too.

The bounty forums which had DDD - discuss debate deliberate. The equivalent to aibu. That was a bit wild.

Then there were the msn forums. People would just upload their entire family albums to random forums and everyone would post "lovely pics hun xx"

And then nethuns which seems to be empty now. They had those ticker things "my baby is 4 months old sparkle sparkle" or "7 months until Disney MICKEY PICTURE "

I miss them sometimes. The utter lack of worry about digital footprint we had back then!!!

I was a mod on there, got me through a really painful part of my life.... I miss it!
Think it was called 'The Dog House' which was set up after a massive row and flounce on Handbag.

So was I Grin

Loved handbag. Wish they had have archived it rather than deleted the whole thing.

I loved You And Your Wedding up until the blue screen of death - this would’ve been 2007-2010 time. A group of us actually set up another forum after YAYW went down and are still in touch to this day - I absolutely loved the days of forums as a young, lonely mother. I miss that feeling of safety and companionship sometimes even now.

Garstang? 😆

Loved YAYW and then the offshoot. I've lost touch with everyone now, as I no longer use Facebook and Instagram. Did have some great friends from there for a time though.

Hi oh my gosh I don't remember that, awful.
We're you on the April 2002?
I can't remember my name either.
I was in correspondence with one lady for a few years, and another was visiting my home town on holiday once so we met up.

Yes I was on the April board. A few years ago I found some of the old posts too on the Wayback machine, just looked again but can't seem to find them.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 14/09/2026 20:14

Nice to see iVillage mentioned a few times. I was Lobster Quadrille on that - still friends in real life with someone I met on the Coping with Infidelity board. And eBay - I think it was the chat board for newbies - still friends with people from that.

Bad Mothers Club. Loved the humour and the support - particularly around mental health.

StolenTeapots · 14/09/2026 20:31

Oh I remember the bbc forums too!

I think the only forum I was a member of was Confetti when wedding planning and then TTC.

Blimey that’s a blast to the past! I remember visiting one of the shops when wedding planning

Oh I remember the bbc forums too!

BMC was so small there’s no way we on there wouldn’t have known each others usernames

Autumnlife · 14/09/2026 21:05

I was on ivillage, uk parents then parents lounge also used Bmc . I’m still in touch with a few I met in real life. Can’t remember user names though

Hi!!
We may have conversed!
How strange but lovely.

Gosh I was on Baby Centre too. Maybe Oct 05? One woman I knew who lived near me had a fall carrying her newborn and his little arm was broken. I went round to her house. I’d totally forgotten about Baby Centre.

XenoBitch · 14/09/2026 22:02

I was on Handbag loads.
Studentrooms
DigitalSpy
GaiaOnline (was a game and message board combined... I probably racked up about 20k posts on there!).

AuDHDryHepburn · 14/09/2026 22:10

I was on Confetti. Then moved over to Hitched. Then there was a sort of break away group who set up a smaller one called The Deadwood, and I was on there for ages but didn’t post much.

PearlsTeapot · 14/09/2026 22:13

Baby and Bump! I was on there in 2009 when I fell pregnant and as a single mum trapped in my flat by sickness it was a lifeline. Made friends I'm still friends with now, went to meet ups with our babies, shared all sorts! I was a bit of a crunchy mum and that section was wild with people who had 100 cloth nappies etc.

Then Hitched in 2015 when I had six months to plan a wedding! A group of us are still friends on Facebook and have our own group on there. We've had meet ups and holidays, it's been lovely.

fashionqueen0123 · 14/09/2026 22:14

Oh wow I’d forgotten about ivillage!

I used to love the Handbag beauty and fashion forums. They cost me a lot of money. There was one poster in the beauty forum who posted a lot and I bought so many things based on her recommendations.

I was on Damsels for a long time.

I was always more of a lurker than a poster though.

That’s where I used to hang out too. I miss those days!

NorthernEmma · 14/09/2026 22:18

used to love iVillage in the early ‘00s when I had my daughter.

Also FeMail which was part of the Daily Mail, of all things 🤣

Autumnpuddings · 14/09/2026 06:53

The TES website used to have forums I went on a bit. They got a bit overrun by trolls though. I went on a meet up once!

Loved the TES forums. What happened?

HurdyGurdy19 · 14/09/2026 22:35

UKParents/UKPL and BabyGreenhouse.

Went to a few meet ups from BGH, and still FB friends with people from both.

Can remember some absolute humdingers of rows on both UKParents and BGH.

And from one of those, someone set up BehindTheBikesheds (or similar) where arguing forumites could take their rows to keep them off the boards.

Yeah, that worked well 😂. It was used to bitch-with-a-capital-B about posters, whilst being nice as pie to them on the main forum.

StolenTeapots · 14/09/2026 22:37

I remember the lady on baby world who was obsessed with Simon le bon and she adopted a little girl. I think she's on here somewhere.

I was on Yahoo groups and BBC. There was a chat site called Breathe. com. I made some great friends on Breathe.
