Anyone remember some parenting forums from way back?

There was babyworld which was quite sensible and had a live chat room too.

The bounty forums which had DDD - discuss debate deliberate. The equivalent to aibu. That was a bit wild.

Then there were the msn forums. People would just upload their entire family albums to random forums and everyone would post "lovely pics hun xx"

And then nethuns which seems to be empty now. They had those ticker things "my baby is 4 months old sparkle sparkle" or "7 months until Disney MICKEY PICTURE "

I miss them sometimes. The utter lack of worry about digital footprint we had back then!!!

I am positive that Mumsnet years ago had an option where you could provide more details about yourself and post photos of your kids. I'm talking around 2003/4. There for anyone to look at!

Yes, I remember this, you could go onto your profile and add details and photos - I put a photo of my DDs (when toddlers) on there 😱

Anyone remember UkParents forum?

I think I was on there from 99 to when it closed although can’t remember when.

I did meet a couple of great people on there, lost touch with one but I’ve been friends with one of them ever since, even though we live a long way from each other!

GoldMoon · 14/09/2026 17:16

You could go into chat rooms on yahoo ( mainly hobbies / interests, etc )
I met my dh on there and we've been together 27 years .

Yes. This was my first parenting forum. Had a few interesting discussions on there lol.

Before I had kids I was on the Channel 4 forums a lot and met quite a few online friends there. We all eventually shifted over to WorldCrossing forums where you could build your own forum and have chats about anything. We all learned a bit of HTML to customise our own ones and everything.

This was all before I had DC then I found new forums over there when I had my DC too (who are both now young adults).

I’m still friends with quite a lot of the people I met there, one in Texas has visited us a few times and sends us postcards and gifts from different places he travels to, he and a few others were also at my wedding 8 years ago (and one of them was my wedding photographer too).

There was a baby names forum I was on there and I followed one friend from there to another baby names forum and I met lots of new friends there too (and this friend and a couple of others from this new forum were also at my wedding). One of these friends is actually one of my best friends now, we chat every day, met up a good few times and she was a witness at my wedding.

I ended up coming over here I think it was when my youngest was a baby. I had PPD and my health visitor mentioned a forum online. I actually think it was probably Netmums she recommended but I made the best mix up of my life by coming here instead. 🤣

over 25 years ago I used a yahoo forum/group of some description, think it was yahoo. Was a group for women expecting a baby in x month/year. So we chatted all the way through pregnancy and then babyhood. I was one of the few U.K. women in the group, the rest were Americans.

TigerRag · 14/09/2026 17:29

TheSite I think they renamed it TheMix

KidsDoBetter · 14/09/2026 17:31

I was on a bloody Terry Wogan radio fans forum in the late 90s. WTF - there was a section for TYGs and TOGs. I was very much a TYG (Terry’s young geezer/gal).

Still miss Sir Terry tho ….

Oh wow! Fancy meeting you here, lol!

SabbatWheel · 14/09/2026 17:33

Visordown / The Rev Counter. Biker forum.
The General Mayhem part of the forum was superb entertainment.

Tarkan · 14/09/2026 17:35

Oh just remembered I also used Fertility Friend forums when I was trying for my 18yo. Again still friendly with some of the Feb 08 mums I met on there, some Brits but most were American and I’ve met up with a couple of them too.

supercalifragilistic123 · 14/09/2026 17:38

I remember loving the channel 4 forum when I was a late teen. Talking about Lost (tv show) theories, Shameless, Hollyoaks and of course Big Brother.

Anyone remember Handbag?

Yes! I had a handbag email address for a bit!

Cadeaukatze · 14/09/2026 17:42

I was a school governor for a bit. There used to be a forum which was either discontinued or too heavily restricted so the governors set up their own and I used it for quite a while. There was also one for sci-fi fans (Horizon?).

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 14/09/2026 17:47

Newrider.
A horsey forum. Met my now best friend there back in about 2004 ish.

Baby centre April 2002 group specifically.
It was great. Very supportive and not all hun and daft.
I stayed for years.

I was on that board too! I agree it was very supportive. I can't remember my username now though. I was just thinking about it last week with the 9/11 anniversary - I seem to remember someone from one of the boards either side lost her dh that day😢💐

Was also on ukparents too for ages and on another spinoff forum where people are still in touch.

WaneyEdge · 14/09/2026 16:35

Digital Spy - still exists but closed their General Discussion forum for some reason.

I also used to love the IMDB boards, especially I Need to Know but they all closed a few years back.

I used to read that Digital Spy forum but didn't post much.

Does anyone remember Television Without Pity/Mighty Big TV? They used to do very funny episode recaps after new episodes of ER.

alt.tv.er was one of my main pre-baby forums along with a couple of spinoff mailing lists.

Hi oh my gosh I don't remember that, awful.
We're you on the April 2002?
I can't remember my name either.
I was in correspondence with one lady for a few years, and another was visiting my home town on holiday once so we met up.

Netcurtainnelly · 14/09/2026 19:40

An old one I remember is raising kids.

ThatRatBastard · 14/09/2026 19:47

Genes Reunited in the early 00s. Great fun, very interesting people I wouldn't have met otherwise. Still friends with a few, met some in real life.
