I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot after a lie in snuggled with boy cat. They've been fed but girl cat turned her nose up at what they've got & has vanished to the top of the cat tree <sigh>.

I'm off to The Range shortly ish with dd2 - we need a quick stop off in town for a couple of bits on the way as well. I ordered a new bed last night 🥳 so want to have a look at their bedding. Dd1 is here working Leger week so she's also given me a small list "if I don't mind" 🙄 . It does include a spray mop like we have here, for quick cleans, though so I'll let her off.

When we get in, I have a whole load of things I'd like to do - the to do list is getting a bit long. Priority is finishing laying the weed membrane now my pegs have arrived though, I think. Then I just need to empty my tomato hanging baskets at some point & tidy - I think the plants are pretty done. Actually, must borrow a mower from somewhere too! I decided a bed was more important than a new mower.

This evening, I think we'll have pork loin steaks for tea, with salad of some sort and roast baby potatoes 😋. I'll have a glass of wine with mine. After tidying & showers I'll sit down with my book, dd2 might come down here with hers too, or she might stay in their room. Dd1 will be in by 9 ish for tea, a couple of hours unwind, and bed ready to go again tomorrow.

What about you? 🙂

Good morning All. Having a quiet one here today after first full week of school and work - DD and I are needing a bit of r&r today. Need to pop out later to get DM a birthday card and maybe some snacks to watch something with DD this evening but not planning to do much else today🙂.

Steak and chips for us tonight!

DinoLil · 12/09/2026 09:54

Hi @lucysmamand all!
Happy Saturday!
I feel like I did today yesterday!
Lack of sleep thanks to the new lodgers (think four feet, long tails and whiskers), pest control keep coming out at a small fortune that I don't have. I live in a terrace and I know they all bumble along the whole lot of us but it seems I'm the only one who will evict them!
I bought a lockable dog biscuit bin for The Animal (not that the lodgers have helped themselves to that). I can't flipping open it so the dog howls for her breakfast and I'm howling even louder!!
Anyway. Did that at 6am. More howling. Pack of Dairylea Dunkers and back to bed - much hammering at the walls and shouting shut the eff up to the lodgers!!!

Thislittlekitten · 12/09/2026 10:00

Morning All

Lazy start to the day. Have felt ill all week. Today much more human but I’m having a quiet day. Will take the dog out soon. He’s having a lazy day too it seems. Refusing an earlier walk.

Just about to have bacon rolls. DH has made noises about going into town. I’m not fussed either way. Hoping my new book arrives soon.

Will do some college work later. Chicken Kiev or steak for tea. Plan on a quiet night. Just started mindhunter on Netflix,7 years after its release 🙈. It’s been good.

JingsMahBucket · 12/09/2026 10:15

Morning folks. I’m just finishing my breakfast then will do a burst of cleaning to get it out of the way for the weekend. Stovetop, toilets, laundry, etc and I need to tackle the mound of clothes that has accumulated on the bureau the past few weeks. OH will run the robot vacuum around to address the terrible state of the floors.

Afterward, probably a couple hours of client work and then reading or iPad gaming. It’s a grey and drizzly day here so it’s perfect for staying inside and getting tasks done.

I’m not sure what’s for dinner yet. Either leftovers or a homemade daal with rice and paratha. Have a cozy and lovely day everyone x

DilemmaDelilah · 12/09/2026 10:16

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I haven't been awake all that long as I was awake for about 3 hours in the wee small hours of the morning, but I have had my breakfast (brought to me in bed by Mr Dilemma) and I will have a shower as soon as he is out of the en suite.

I don't have much planned for today. I spent a long time sorting out my felt, beads, ribbons, sequins and embroidery silks yesterday so that they could be put away... I didn't get quite as far as finding anywhere actually to put them though, so I need to do that. They need to be somewhere accessible though as I want to make Mr Dilemma a Christmas stocking decoration of his own, which I can only do when he's not here... And he's ALWAYS here! Now that Chorister grandson has gone back to school I will have the time that is taken for Mr Dilemma to pick him up from rehearsals/services in the evening and take him home, then come home himself, to work in, which adds up to about 3 hours a week when he doesn't have weekend duties, and about 6 hours a week when he does. Chorister grandson is being invested as a Senior Chorister on Sunday, so we will be going to the Cathedral for that service. He will also have a Junior to look after. Since he can barely look after himself I wonder how that will go! He started at his new senior school last Monday and on his first day he forgot to wear his school blazer (a detention offence) and had lost his pencil case at home before even getting to school....

I spent ages yesterday sorting out things to put on Vinted, photographing them and uploading them. Today I'm going to sort out my fabric stash to see what I can get rid of and to see if I have any fabric I can make a couple of evening bags out of. I have bought myself some handles to do that with. I'm planning on embellishing them with beading and embroidery. I might also make some cards. I picked up a load of blank cards and card-making stuff at the scrap store and I look forward to seeing what I can make of them.

This evening I am having stuffed marrow (out of the freezer), probably with some boiled potatoes (I LIKE boiled potatoes!) while Mr Dilemma will have faggots and pease pudding. I might make some crumble topping for the stewed plums and nectarines I cooked yesterday. We were given a large punnet of plums and a small one of nectarines, so any that weren't OK to eat fresh I cooked. The bruised or over ripe ones. It will give Mr Dilemma a reason to go to the shops, as he likes custard with his, and me a chance to squirrel away the bits I will need to sew his Christmas stocking, while he's out.

Have a lovely day everybody, or at least the very best one you can.

Fiddlesticks1 · 12/09/2026 10:21

Three loads of washing done. Later on off to town to enjoy heritage day concerts in various locations there. Might eat out but will definitely have a drink or two.

Fridaysgirl17 · 12/09/2026 10:23

Morning all
I've had an incredibly slow morning, woke up at 8 30 which is unusual for me I'm usually up at 6 30. Kids are with dad but back today as they only go for 1 night, not sure what time as dad will just pick a random time & give no notice so I'll stay in,which is fine by me today as I have the first illness from back to school, cough & sore throat 🤦🏻‍♀️,I'm up & dressed so next will be coffee & I think a bacon sandwich,I have washing to fold, dishes to put away, want to wash school bags as we had spills this week,I have some housework to do & I am hoping I'll get it done before the boys are back & then think it will be a cost day in with them as they are usually fairly dysregulated when back,I'll probably read a bit & chill. A very slow Saturday here I think.

Tablo · 12/09/2026 10:24

Morning @lucysmam

DH and I were out just before 9 to do a few errands. Charity shop drop off, greengrocers and went to our caravan in storage to collect and drop off some things.

Back now and having coffee. I’m going to do some maths practice as I’m working my way through the functional skills work book. I am 52 but my maths has always been shocking so I’ve gone back to basics!!

I also need to pick an outfit for my induction day at my new job on Monday. I’ve had a month off so the office clothes need an airing.

We’re going out for dinner. It’s our 29th wedding anniversary tomorrow. How am I old old enough to have been married for so long 😩

Tiddlywinks63 · 12/09/2026 10:28

Good morning @lucysmam and crew, it’s chilly here at the moment and I’m about to go outside and do some tidying in the garden. I think I’ll pick all the green tomatoes and bring them in for ripening on a windowsill and empty the pots onto one of the borders. Then I’ll tackle pruning and the seasonal clearing up in bits next week. That’ll keep me occupied!
I’ve cleaned out the fridge, no need for a food shop this week (!), binned a few bits, made the bed and put away the washing. I’m having a bit of a rest before I get on with the garden stuff, I’m only 5 weeks postop and need to pace myself a bit 😊
I also need to wander along to the postbox to post the questionnaire for medical trial that I’m participating in, mustn’t forget that!
Have a lovely weekend x

Bringyourfoldingchair · 12/09/2026 10:31

Good morning all. I was out with my sisters and lovely mum last night and had a few drinks so a slow start for me. DH has DS12 at rugby and the two littles are with me. I’ve done a click and collect for this afternoon with loads of nice bits in it for the weekend in the hope that we will avoid a takeaway. I’ve had some coffee but still feeling a little fragile. Hoping I perk up soon. I’ve been down and cleaned up downstairs and put a wash one. Having a break and then will tackle the upstairs and get showered soon. I’ve booked the cinema for this afternoon so that’s the plan. Then back home to chill out.
Hope everyone has a great day!

frozendaisy · 12/09/2026 10:37

Morning morning morning

Drinking coffee
Washing uniform

Eldest has another driving theory test later, not sure he’s read enough again but it’s irrelevant no one can book in a practical even when you do pass theory.

Then I have a night out in a local club and am just working out how long I have to study before getting a taxi home (it’s a hen-do a very mix of ages, the hen is a bit younger than me so I am assuming I can slope off before the disco dancing gets into full swing as by then she will have had enough cocktails and will be her bridesmaids problem)

Should be fun for a bit though.

gingercat02 · 12/09/2026 10:43

Morning all
Busy weekend here. Its the Great North Run weekend. Our youngest nephew is running tomorrow so we are meeting him, his GF, BIL and SIL for lunch. They will be here in a couple of hours so need to do a quick tidy.
We also have a friend who did the 5K yesterday staying for the weekend. He has gone out to explore the coast, but we are out with him tonight.
A lot of eating, but no cooking, bonus 😀
Happy Saturday

SereneReader · 12/09/2026 10:46

Had a lie in and a little to have a bacon and egg butty.

Then we'll get sorted and visit my DM. She lives 45 mins away. I need to cut down the last of my sunflowers so I can pop them on my DF's grave. He died 19 years ago this week:(

When we get back we'll walk the dog, put the white school shirts in the wash and then I've got a set of books that need marking.

Early shower then I'll settle in for an evening of tennis interspersed with board/card games Woth DH and DC.

FayKnights · 12/09/2026 10:51

Morning Lucysmam and the Saturday Gang!

just wandering into town to meet a friend for a late breakfast, I already know what I’m going to order 🤤

The 2 youngest have gone to university, one for his 2nd year and the youngest for first year! Excited for them but my poor bank account is suffering.
Plan to deep clean their room and use it as an office during their term time.

Dog walk and food shopping delivery will also feature today.

@Tablo Duolingo has a good maths programme, I’m the same as you and went right back to basics!

Have a great weekend all x

mondaytosunday · 12/09/2026 10:51

Not really started the day yet. Been down to feed the cats but as I’m trying not to eat before 11am best policy is to stay out of the kitchen till then!
Only thing on the cards today is a visit to my storage unit to get my autumnal decs out. This will take longer than hoped for as my unit is chockablock. I only have a foliage garland that replaces the summer bunting across the back (I have a wall of glass overlooking the garden), one fur the mantle and a matching wreath. Might try and locate the Halloween decs too (just some light up ghosts).
My DD had a sleepover Thursday night so the house is very tidy at the moment, but she needs to start getting ready for returning to uni so imagine she’ll have to pull everything out again! My own room is a disaster so might tackle the pile of clothes on my chest of drawers.
Dinner is shrimp biryani and we are watching that series about 9/11. Tomorrow pottery workshop!

ShipshapeShore · 12/09/2026 10:53

We have friends coming over tonight which I'm really looking forward to, however I always convince myself the house must be perfect and get stressed, even though they're not bothered! I blame a very judgy 'friend' I once had.

In amongst the tidying and cleaning I have to go to Tesco, feed a friend's cat, pick up DD's friend and drop them in town, and drop some bits in to a relative. I am very much looking forward to a cocktail later!!

lucysmam · 12/09/2026 12:20

Shortly ish...meaning we haven't left the house yet 🙈.

I'm in Sheffield today I've come to the Starbucks near meadowhall but not inside I've never been here before and it's absolutely lovely.
This afternoon I'll do a little shopping ahead of an hospital stay (gr)
And relax.

MostArdently · 12/09/2026 13:38

Had a quiet morning. DH took DD to her speech and language session whilst I washed the school uniform. DD also has a party this afternoon so I’m taking her to that whilst DH takes the boys out. Sausage casserole in the slow cooker for tea. Nice and chilled before a busy week next week!

DiggoryVenn · 12/09/2026 14:26

I had an early start and did some pilates (You tube). Then painted the last internal door. Second coat has just been finished and will be ready to rehang later.

I've done my ironing and shortened a dress ready for my holiday next week.

I have started packing for holiday in cubes - find this really useful when I have a broken journey- we have 2 nights on the road/ferry before getting to holiday house. Will probably not finish this today.

Have also found time for some journalling which I started a few weeks ago. Am really enjoying it.

Having some quiet time now before we head out for a recently discovered walk which will end up at a taproom for a pint before telly at home this evening.

Strawberrymilkshakez · 12/09/2026 14:27

I had a busy morning running dc various places then collecting. I am taking the dc and dog to the country park shortly. I have some flat pack to build but that may wait until tomorrow. Curry tonight I have a new book which I’m quite excited to read as books have mostly been work related recently so this is a pleasant change!

GreenEyesMillennial · 12/09/2026 14:29

Having a very lazy day whilst husband is working. Need to start packing for holidays tomorrow 🙈 i hate packing suitcases
