If you eat Premier Inn breakfasts - BEWARE!!

Ok, clickbaity title, sorry about that!

I just wanted to warn everyone who gets the vegan sausage/bacon for Premier Inn breakfasts, that they've gone back to using Quorn!! Since A LOT of people are intolerant to Quorn, myself included, this could be a horrible 'find-out-the-hard-way' discovery, so I want to spread the word. I'm so glad I double checked before ordering today!!

I prefer the quorn sausages, but they should specify as a lot of people are allergic. It would be so easy, particularly when you have to ask for the veggie option when you enter for breakfast.

They literally ask every single table they seat ‘do you have any allergies’ so it someone is allergic that’s their time to speak up.

Any they are generally pretty hot on allergies.

They weren’t Quorn when we had breakfast there on Saturday and Sunday, as I only like Quorn sausages and I can always tell. Probably using up what they had in the freezer.

I ordered vegan sausage in a PI last week, and what they served up was all dry and powdery inside. It was inedible. Don't know if that's what Quorn is like but I doubt it.

OMG thank you OP. Presumably this is the self serve breakfast buffet where you are fending for yourself as I’ve never seen table service at the Premier Inn breakfast buffet 🥴

PI often switch to table service when there are not a lot of residents, you see it in the less buy hotels regularly. But even with buffet you will not find it uncommon to have to order vegetarian sausage rather then find it on the hot plate.

I was in Travelodge the other day and they use quorn sausages too. It was on a sign, though, as they were made to order.

It’s a good reminder to always declare your allergies/intolerances, because suppliers change. PI may ask people about allergies, but if you’re used to staying there and have always had the same vegan/vege breakfast without issue then it may not occur to you to mention it.

They used to be quorn many years back. I was delighted when they switched to 'Garden Gourmet'. I only thought to double check because I know their restaurants have been taken over. They should at least make it clear on the menu. They're just listed as 'vegan sausage' or whatever now.

Is it premier inn where you always have to ask? Such a pain and dh has already eaten two platefuls by the time my sausages arrive.

Not everywhere. At every Premier Inn I've been to (which is a few!) the cooked breakfast items are self service.

But the quorn thing isn't really an allergy so it might not cross someone's mind, especially if they've been before and it wasn't quorn.

tho equally could be the same for table service and just sitting in kitchen waiting 😂

Smaller sites tend to take specific hot food orders rather than a full buffet. Continental stuff is all buffet

I stay in premier inn 6 days a month and they ask without fail every time whether I have any allergies. It must be drilled into them (rightly so).

Self service definitely doesn’t mean it’s been sitting a while. In busy hotels the demand for breakfast is high and the turnover rather fast, often you can be waiting for them to replenish.

Quorn is some weird stuff. As far as I was aware, I had no allergies/intolerances to anything at all. I'm a greedy pig and will eat anything put in front of me - not remotely fussy and mostly don't care what stuff is, will just gobble. Well, quorn made me feel really rough (stomach cramps etc). I thought surely it wasn't that so a few years later, ate it again. I puked. I almost never puke.

I think quorn must be some weird filthy stuff. As I have the constitution of an ox and no kind of food has ever done this to me.
