Co-op has mince pies

The back wall is full of Halloween stuff which is to be expected, but bloody mince pies already? 4 days ago it was summer! They stuck them right by the self serve tills so you can just nonchalantly grab a box as you go to pay then scoff the lot in the car.

Looks like I'll continue to be fat this year then as I bloody love them 🥧

M&S had them Monday when I got there and had sold out by the time I left. Today Lidl had loads.

I hate them!

LIDL do too, DH saw them but was strong and declined to buy any!

To be fair now is the time to get the regular ones before the cheddar/apple/blueberry abominations come out.

TBF you do need to scoff the whole lot in the car because they won’t keep til Christmas. The use by date is well before then.

Morrisons has stolen. I picked one up, checked the use by (Feb next yr)but put it back. It’s just too soon

I bought some from Morrisons bakery yesterday - they're the best.

Asda has hot cross buns.

I think hot cross buns have become a permanent fixture now. They never left from Easter.

What is the point of getting them now? They only have a month shelf life on them! I'm not sitting eating bloody mince pies in September!

It’s actually putting me off Christmas, just feel disgusted by all the piles of Christmas food in the shops already

This what bothers me. I understand putting out the seasonal stuff in order so Valentines, Easter, Summer, Autumn, Halloween, Christmas, and then repeat. But it all just overlaps now and we're being encouraged to just spend, spend, spend all year long.

I did an online shop in Morrisons last Saturday. I was under the threshold for delivery and they had Christmas chocolate on the site. I bunged a load in (Will be needed and eaten though.) to get the total up and the lot turned up! 😅

People must buy them or they wouldn’t stock them. I guess they hope people will buy the chocolates for Christmas but then eat them and buy them several times over in the interim!

All the main grocery stores have them. Have done for a week or more.

I still some from last Christmas in the freezer. Tempted to pop a couple in the airfryer for breakfast tomorrow 👀

Maybe it's a principled return to practices before mince pies became so strongly associated with Christmas.
