What's your current earworm?

Mine have been a slightly baffling selection just lately. First it was Tiger Feet. Then I caught myself singing Good King Wenceslas in the car, and couldn't get rid of it out of my head, then for several days it was 9 to 5 (for obvious reasons) and now, this afternoon, it has become A Nightingale Sang In Berkely Square, for no good reason I can think of.

Please tell me I'm not alone in this weirdness!

At the weekend it was the hideous Foundations by Kate Nash. I truly hate this awful song and it has no redeeming features #thanksjowhiley

HearHareHere · 02/09/2026 16:01

Snooker loopy by Chas & Dave 😂I’ve even been doing the tongue click for the sound of the balls knocking together at the end 😂😂

love your Good King Wenceslas 😂😂😂(or “Good King Wencless last looked out…” as I used to think it went - but that’s for another thread! 😜)

Cotopaxi · 02/09/2026 16:07

@HearHareHere I must have been thinking about Christmas for some odd reason, but I was just going to and from the petrol station so I have no idea what set it off.😂

Take Me to Church by Hozier. Can’t shake it.

Strangely though, I find it helps to actually listen to the real song. It seems to somehow scratch an itch for a while and give some peace!

TeelaLorenCarver · 02/09/2026 16:13

I'm Horny, by MousseT. No idea where that came from as I'm anything but. Before that it was Nellie the Elephant, specifically the Toy Dolls version. Had been singing it to my grandson, and it got stuck.

Cotopaxi · 02/09/2026 16:15

I had been hoping that some of your ideas might change my earworm to something else, but I'm not entirely sure I want any of them either.😁🎼

Oliver Tree - life goes on. Literally just the "life goes on, and on and on and on etc " On repeat 😂

Tarkan · 02/09/2026 16:17

For some reason I have “I’m in the Mood for Dancing” right now.

Before that though it was “Rock the Casbah” which always takes me a good few days to get rid of and before that it had been “Walk the Dinosaur”.

WeatherbyGeorgeDupris · 02/09/2026 16:19

Everything's Alright from Jesus Christ Superstar, made worse by the fact I only know three lines.

NortyTorty · 02/09/2026 16:20

I cannot get rid of Jolene, which has been stuck there since DP’s death was announced.

Our twin sons loved Nellie. It's got quite progressive lyrics too !

Dance Macabre by Ghost.
🎶Just wanna be, wanna bewitch you in the moonlight 🎶

Meadowfinch · 02/09/2026 16:24

Corrine Bailey Rae - 'Til it happens to you

I don't remember hearing it recently but can't get it out of my head.

Mine has been Why'd You Come in Here Looking Like That. Epic song though so I'm not mad about it

Cotopaxi · 02/09/2026 16:25

Oh heck - I used to listen to Nellie the Elephant on the radio as a kid, but my brain now has Puff the Magic Dragon on the go...

Put Yourself In My Place by the Isley Bros. It was on another thread about floor fillers and I've always loved it. As ear worms go it's not the worst I guess

Holymotherforkingshirtballs · 02/09/2026 16:32

Just back from a Eurocamp in Italy so it's currently songs from the mini disco!

Cornishmumofone · 02/09/2026 16:33

The entire soundtrack from Six!

Ormally · 02/09/2026 16:37

Tom Lehrer's 'Be Prepared!'
Based on the experiences and motto of the scouts.
Thanks to the thread about how long condoms have been standard recommendations for freshers' packing lists. Reminded me of

If you're looking for adventure of a new and different kind
And you come across a Girl Scout who is similarly inclined
Don't be nervous, don't be flustered, don't be scared -
Be Prepared!

Girl crazy hot chocolate.

DD was struggling to remember which song some lyrics she had in her head came from and then suddenly remembered it was Two Hearts by Phil Collins. I now can't get it out of my head.

Earlier on for some random reason it was You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon.

It's so odd. I hadn't been listening to it al all.

HatStickBoots · 03/09/2026 00:29

For three whole weeks it’s been ‘he ain’t heavy, he’s my brother’ and it’s not a song I like, I find it so dreary but it was playing on the radio in a charity shop and just entered my head. Aaaarrgh.

ItsABatFaceThing · 03/09/2026 00:34

Eastern rosellas

dont do it

JustHereForTheShitsAndGiggles · 03/09/2026 00:35

Time After Time by The Beloved has been my earworm for about 3 weeks now. I keep listening to it on repeat on YouTube as well. But it's been interrupted by Dream a Little Dream of Me because I was watching Dead To Me earlier. But as I write this Time After Time is back...

RhythmIsADisaster · 03/09/2026 01:00

Katseye - Pinky Up. Taking DD to see them tomorrow!
