What are you up to today on this damp weekday?

Having pointlessly looked for @lucysmamโ€˜s thread ๐Ÿ™„ , because itโ€™s not the weekend ffs!, what are you up to today?
I have prepared 4lbs of plums for jam, sorted out sausages, mash, onion gravy and onions for dinner, messed around going through my enormous craft stash looking for a specific book and had two mugs of coffee.
DH is taking bigger dog out shortly for a walk in the woods, Tiddlerโ€™s snoring her head off.
Itโ€™s damp out so the washing will have to wait until tomorrow. I have picked a big handful of runner beans for dinner, my favourite vegetable ๐Ÿ˜‹

ps. It hadnโ€™t even registered that itโ€™s a Bank Holiday!

๐Ÿคฃ I've just got up for a cuppa after spending the weekend in front pit at Leeds Festival ๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ•บ! I've got no plans for anything but more sleep, and finish some crochet maybe. Poor dd1 has gone to work as achey and tired as I am.

beaglescurleduplikebagels · 31/08/2026 10:20

Weโ€™re on the sofa with coffee and re-runs of Keeping Up Appearances - off the local country fair soon if the weather holds up.

RobinEllacotStrike · 31/08/2026 10:28

I had a lie in & now having coffee in my hammock. Sunny & breezy here.

I plan to go to the beach on a bit and then some sewing - I have some too big clothes to alter & I want to make a Korean style curtain.

ghostyslovesheets · 31/08/2026 10:35

Iโ€™m taking two of my girls for brunch - nice lazy meal and some shop mooching

other daughter is away at Uni so not leaving her out!

frozendaisy · 31/08/2026 10:36

Going to get coffee and cinnamon buns on, wake household, finish putting shipping delivery away, get out youngsters school uniform, assuming we can muddle together 2 days worth. With some PE

Have a mountain, a literal mountain of clean dry clothes to put away (oh itโ€™s just so hard that final step of laundry yet never take that long once you get going)

have a tidy up

get eldest installed for a day of college work
provide drinks and food

collect all the windfall fruit from beneath the trees

nothing much but it will be infinity better once done - that type of day

RappelChoan · 31/08/2026 10:40

โ€œnothing much but it will be infinity better once done - that type of dayโ€

oh yes! Exactly that. I have had two coffees, done the dishwasher and a couple of loads of laundry but really need to put clean things away and unpack from lots of recent back to back trips to feel like Iโ€™m living in my home.

and I will do stretching and go for a run

and throw old food away and buy more ๐Ÿค”

gingercat02 · 31/08/2026 10:40

Lol at Lucysmam on someone else's BH thread. DS has a ball at Leeds festival, glad you enjoyed it.
He's on his way home, with a dead wet phone and I imagine wet and muddy everything else

I'm still under the weather so not doing much again. Debating if I need a GP appointment tomorrow and whether I should be going back to work.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 31/08/2026 10:41

Itโ€™s dry and breezy here so Iโ€™m on my third load of washing.

Having a good clean of the house today before the onslaught of a very busy week tomorrow

HoppityBun · 31/08/2026 10:43

Itโ€™s sunny here but Iโ€™m hoping for rain.

I am prioritising my list of things that I wonโ€™t do in the order that I will not do them.

And wasting time on here.

Crunchymum · 31/08/2026 10:48

No rain here (yet!)

About to head out to collect DC1 school shoes from M&S and pick up some chicken thighs for dinner. I am doing some kind of one pot thing where I just chuck in chicken, new potatoes, veggies, passata and spices. There is a recipe so I'll dig it out.

Kids are out for a bike ride after lunch but we're all just making the most of our last day of proper freedom (I'm at work tomorrow, DC2 is back Wednesday, DC3 Thursday and DC1 Friday - all at different schools now - eeeepppp!)

We'll stick on The Rookie later, we're almost done with series 2.

The sunโ€™s come out, hoping itโ€™ll be dry long enough to hang out the washing.
i felt exhausted just reading about your weekend @lucysmam , I hope you have a restful day.

Sounds like me here @HoppityBun, Queen of Procrastination me!

We had an amazing lie in and are now in the cinema about to see Coyote vs Acme. Weโ€™ve finally invited our neighbour for dinner this evening so I made pastry for an apple pie (her apples!) and weโ€™ll do baked fish in some form. Maybe with tomatoes and olives.

Iโ€™m bullying dp to definitely go down to 4 days a week from November because he is a different man with a three day weekend. He always planned to go at 60 but that was in March and his pension has taken six months not to pay out so far. Weโ€™ll make the money work.

Girasoli · 31/08/2026 11:07

I am making the most of it and resetting the house before everyone goes back to work/school. I'm having a little rest from reorganising the playroom.

DC are playing together downstairs and DH is at work.

In a bit I will make the DC get dressed and go out and buy some lunch/food (we were away on holiday and then had a wedding so we haven't done a big shop in a while).

lucysmam · 31/08/2026 11:35

@frozendaisy your nothing much but it'll be better once it's done day really needs to happen here after this weekend ๐Ÿ™ˆ. Not today though!

Glad your ds had a good time @gingercat02 ! Everything will certainly be muddy - we managed to get on a bus just as the heavens opened - I did not want to be caught in that downpour.

Holymotherforkingshirtballs · 31/08/2026 11:37

Making the most of our last day in Italy before heading home to the rain tomorrow!

gingeristhenewblack43 · 31/08/2026 11:38

@frozendaisyditto! What is it about that last laundry stage of actually putting it away that is so difficult?! ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Picked DD14 up from holiday with her dad last night. First wash load is on the go but weโ€™re forecast rain. So I need to clear the airers before that can be hung up.

There are bags to unpack of clean clothes as DD is a chronic over packer. Those will need putting away too.

Other than that it will be a hibernation day here. DD is tired and peopled out after her week away. And I just cba!

Heyhelga · 31/08/2026 11:48

Dh has been and collected a replacement refurbished laptop for ds this morning is now trying to figure out how to move the spyware protection from the old laptop onto the new laptop.

Ds is out cycling with his mates blissfully not a care in the world about the cost of his replacement laptop (he's very coy about what happened to it. Broke the hinges somehow).

I've just finished cleaning the bathroom.

Not sure what what we're doing the rest of the day. House is looking ok, shopping is all done, the weather is ok here but not warm. I feel the need to get out the house before going back to work tomorrow (my first day back after a two week break) but don't really want to spend any more money today than we have with the stupid laptop.

mondaytosunday · 31/08/2026 11:48

Well itโ€™s very sunny here in SW London! Some clouds for sure but so far so dry.
Iโ€™m making cabbage soup. Itโ€™s yummy, low calorie and packed full of goodness. The carrots, onion and celery first and now the cabbage is โ€˜sweatingโ€™. Thatโ€™s our lunch.
Then we have to return to Curryโ€™s about my DDโ€™s laptop which is acting up. Been once need to go back.
Thatโ€™s really it for today - dinner will be pork burger and salad and the second series on 100 Years of Solitude.

Rainbow1235 · 31/08/2026 11:51

Morning to u all Iโ€™m just bein realy lazy still in pjs and drinking tea although will get dressed soon as I want to pop to home bargains for a few bits . May even have a nap later .

HRHCurmudgeon · 31/08/2026 11:54

Had a lovely lie in, with coffee. Put a wash on and put one away. Played with the neighbours cat (I may have purchased Dreamies for herโ€ฆ).

Had a long hot shower and now sitting with a towel on my head and mask on my face. Body lotion soaking in and then going to chose which perfume I want to wear today.

The rest of the day looks like lots of nothing. Been off work since Tues last week and did all my ironing at the start of my break ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Pedicure, telly and sofa for the rest of the day. Bliss.

CadiFfan · 31/08/2026 12:01

Stripped the bed, washed the winter coats, soup for lunch and a football match at 2pm

Ireolu · 31/08/2026 12:01

Going for a walk later. We will get coffee. DC will get an icecream. Will come back and i will make dinner.

LemonVerbenaGeranium · 31/08/2026 12:40

Sunny here, so have done a couple of loads of laundry. Like many of you Iโ€™m in Sort Out mode, so I tackled the two bathroom cabinets and various stored toiletries. Chucked out loads of old things (the winner was paracetamol from 2013!) and now have lots of space to see what weโ€™ve got. DS has done some driving practice with DH and is now doing some schoolwork ready for the start of term later this week. I have a ballet class later on, but will make time for a walk in the sunshine before I go to that.

DilemmaDelilah · 31/08/2026 13:18

Hello @Tiddlywinks63 and everyone! I missed @lucysmam yesterday so it is lovely that you have started this today.

I've been working on the Christmas stocking decorations I'm doing for everyone this year. I did a lot earlier in the year but have a couple to finish now. The one I'm doing now is for chorister grandson who is red/green colour blind, so it is mainly a combination of yellow, orange and blue - all colours he can see. I still have one to make for far-away daughter, and I will probably make one specifically for Mr Dilemma. I have already made some generic ones for our home, but I think he would like one of his own. I've had to stop now though because my eyes have had enough.

Just had a ham and tomato roll made by Mr Dilemma, and we've just started the second series of Keeping Faith on the telly, which I'm enjoying. It's a generally grey and showery day here so I'm not going out. Low fat sausages and cabbage tonight, with mash for Mr Dilemma.

Ohitsatiara · 31/08/2026 14:26

On our way home from Sunshine Festival and although we were in a motorhome and not a tent there's still a big bag full of wet stuff to wash when we get home. I'm tired and achy but had a fantastic time. Next year's tickets already purchased, don't really care much whose playing it's just live music and friendly people.
Will be early to bed tonight!
