Do you face the shower or turn round while washing your hair?

I face the shower to start off with, turn round to rinse out shampoo, then back again to rinse out conditioner.

DH says he doesn't know what he does. What do you do?

Away from the shower so shampoo doesn’t run down into my eyes obviously!
I spent most of my time showering facing away from the shower actually. Dh is more a half an half guy though.
i don’t like water running down my face, makes me feel quite claustrophobic.

MadMAGA · 30/08/2026 19:21

I'd have said the same but I paid attention to what I was doing this morning and I naturally turn to face the shower while rinsing out conditioner. Weird.

Away from the shower with my head tilted back, it's pathetic but I get quite panicky if too much water runs over my face.

GameOfJones · 30/08/2026 19:28

I always face away from the shower.

HelenaWilson · 30/08/2026 19:37

Same. I feel it gets a more thorough rinse that way, as well as not liking soapy water running over my face.

thenightsky · 30/08/2026 19:39

I like to wash my face using the shampoo that runs down. I love the feeling of water over my face.

I’m exactly the same! Cannot understand why anyone would face the shower surely the shampoo would get in there your eyes ?

ErrolTheDragon · 30/08/2026 19:57

If it’s a fixed head shower then depends on the angles but probably facing away. But surely no one in their right mind washes their hair with a fixed head shower if they can help it? So usually I’d be facing the controls and moving the shower head to wherever I want it.

MrsLFii · 30/08/2026 19:58

Always face away. I reverse into it more to wash/rinse my front so the waters going over me onto my front but always face away

ElegantDress · 30/08/2026 19:59

I do mostly sideways because that way I'm facing the shelf where shampoo etc bottles stand but turn my back for rinsing hair. I cannot bear the water running down my face (even though I'm fine with putting face under in swimming pools etc).

Nugg · 30/08/2026 20:00

I never face the shower. It’s behind it to the side

Well if you're away from home in a hotel or conference centre or wherever, often a fixed head shower is what you get.

Oh, I always choose to have the shower head fixed. And I stand facing it.
I'm obviously weird!

MellowSubmarine · 30/08/2026 20:11

Face away, I don’t really know why you’d face the shower? The hair is going down the back of your head

Greywizardthewhite · 30/08/2026 20:19

I like to twirl! So face shower then back to shower!
Once I’ve washed my hair, I often move the shower head down so the water hits my collar!
But I like the shower water hitting my face !

RemindMeIn15Minutes · 30/08/2026 20:30

A bit of everything.

A sideways person! Do you also stand sideways when you're away from home?

I face the shower but with my head upside down to wet my hair, then turn around to shampoo with my head still down. Turn around again to rinse. Repeat for a second shampoo if doing or conditioner. I face away when washing my body then face it again with head upside down to rinse the conditioner out, wrap hair in a towel and then face the shower to wash my face. I am surprised I don't get dizzy with all the tooing and froing

Agree with this. Hate water over my face any length of time. DH likes a rainfall shower but I like the detachable head so it’s angled.

I’m struggling to picture this. 😂

everynowandthenifallapart · 30/08/2026 23:05

I wash my hair upside down in the shower and use a shower hairbrush to help rinse the water through.

We have really hard water here and I used to get terrible buildup - regardless of what shampoo I used before I tried this.

Squirrel437 · 30/08/2026 23:09

All ways, back, front and both sides. I twirl

Haha! Basically I face the shower but with my head upside down for most of my shower. I hate facing away and washing my hair as I hate the hair that falls out going on my back

Denim4ever · 30/08/2026 23:29

Not really any of those poll options. I take one step back, face the shower and bend my head under to get hair wet, turn to the side to soap up, back to rinse, turn out to condition, back to rinse, keeping head down at all times and minimising water in eyes. I have really think hair so no danger of sudden gush through of water.
