Regretting my hybrid brows they’re too dark, should I remove them?

Hi all, I really need help with my brows as I’ve just got home from an appointment and bursted into tears at the state of my brows.

I haven’t had my brows done in a few years as I’m saving money so haven’t been spending on maintenance but I decided to treat myself and have them done. I went for hybrid brows as the pictures online looked nice but I really regret it…my eyebrows look like they’re very heavily drawn on, they’re really dark and striking (the front of the eyebrow isn’t lighter to make it look natural) and to make it worse they’ve not even been threaded to an even shape, one of my brows arch is way thicker then the other. I don’t wear much makeup but I always do my eyebrows as it’s the one thing I’m good at and take pride in so to now have them completely messed up I feel physically sick and so insecure, I’m supposed to be seeing my partner tomorrow and I now want to cancel all plans and hide.

I think when I had them done before they were HD brows which look a lot natural and in my opinion better (not to mention I went to a different place before and that person was a lot better). I’m really upset as mentioned im saving money and haven’t been getting anything done in years so this was supposed to be a nice treat for me but instead it’s been a massive mistake and waste of £120 (I had to get an uber there and back hence high price).

I’m really stressed out right now and feeling very low, I’m trying to tell myself it’ll be lighter tomorrow but I don’t think that’s true and even so the shape of the brows is messed up. At this point I feel like I should take the loss and just wipe them off while they’re still fresh as I really can’t walk around like this. Any advice would be really appreciated, is it best I just wipe them off?

Your picture isn't visible but brows really are generally best left natural, with a bit of tweeting/ threading to remove monobrow issues.
I'm really sorry you’re feeling low after a treat though. We've all wasted money at some point so don't beat yourself up.

fluffythecat1 · 29/08/2026 16:49

I would wipe them off now. After that you could probably soften them with makeup/powder, in order to blend them out.

5128gap · 29/08/2026 16:50

They look to me like those type of eyebrows always look. Not to my taste, but the same as everyone else's who gets them done. Which probably isn't that helpful. But they look 'normal' for that aesthetic to me.

Jesus Christ, surely they can tone them down?

Merrymoonage · 29/08/2026 16:52

How much did you pay for the actual eyebrows? It still must have been a huge cost other than the uber?
Honestly I would be asking for a refund. I can’t see what they’ve done for £100. Over processed some tint and made it look like cartoon brows??
Wash them with oil cleaner 5 times a day until it fades is really all you can do.

Crinkle77 · 29/08/2026 16:53

I don't understand why beauticians do those blunt ends. Natural brows taper.

Sparrowsandbudgies · 29/08/2026 16:55

If you wipe them off now does that mean they won’t stay that colour / that depth of colour? (No idea how it all works; I thought once you had them done you couldn’t wipe them off but maybe that’s only for microbladed ones)!

Being really honest they’re not to my taste but then I’m 45 and I don’t really like that kind of “look” - I just shape mine with tweezers and use a soft brow pencil. Other people would think they’re amazing I’m sure.

PuppyMonkey · 29/08/2026 16:55

Angry Birds eyebrows - wipe off asap.

7238SM · 29/08/2026 16:56

I've had to google what hybrid brows as as thought it was some sort of tattoo. How long do they normally take to fade? Did you read reviews beforehand? Have you spoken the to person that did it and voiced your concerns?

fluffythecat1 · 29/08/2026 17:00

Don’t feel low hun, I once home dyed my hair trying to put streaks in and ended up looking like someone had cracked an egg on my head. Had to dash to the high street for a box colour and just dye it dark. We’ve all been there and you can rectify it.

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/08/2026 17:06

My (limited) understanding of these is that they dye the hair and the skin but the dye on the skin fades faster. Based on before and after photos online it does look like the first day or 2 they are much darker then they start to fade out, the skin stain only lasts a couple of weeks at most then the dye on the hairs lasts 8ish weeks.

id leave them for today then tomorrow I’d wash them with soap and water and see what you have. It looks like oil based cleanser cause them to fade more quickly because it’s advised to avoid them, so if you wanted to you could try some micellar water or baby oil on a cotton bud to fade the blunt ends and see if that helps.

@Merrymoonage
The brows themselves cost £55 which isn't too bad (if they were actually nice), uber was expensive as I had to go there and back today and I done the same two days ago to have a patch test. They really do look like cartoon brows lol, made me laugh a bit, but honestly feel like they’re a mess and looks like I’ve got a black pen and filled them in. Annoyingly I have a cleanser and coconut oil but not a oil cleanser.

Are they tattooed? If they are they will scab over while healing and then be a much more natural colour. Takes about 10 days

anewlifeinthesun · 29/08/2026 17:08

I’m sorry but they are awful

SaltedCaramelGu · 29/08/2026 17:08

Groucho Marx would be a good username.

I would use that to tone them down. Was it a professional looking place or a cheap and cheerful? If the latter and at that price I think that you are right to take it as a poor job and it would validate you trying to sort them out yourself at this stage.

MeganBoo · 29/08/2026 17:11

@Sparrowsandbudgies The brows are just dyed and it usually fades on its own but can take a week or more and for obvious reasons I don’t want to keep them like this for that long 🙈. They’re definitely not my taste either, I’ve had my brows done before and they looked amazing and really natural but it was a different place and a different treatment.

OP posts:
Katalica · 29/08/2026 17:15

Can you wipe over them with a light foundation to tone them down for now? Honestly, loads of us have had crap dye jobs at some point and it all grows out fades.

MeganBoo · 29/08/2026 17:16

This was when I had them done a few years ago and as you can see they looked amazing way more natural here and don’t look drawn on. It was at a different place and I think it may have been HD brows instead of hybrid, I didnt go back here as I no longer drive and it’s further away but I should’ve paid the extra to get them done here. You can see a massive difference in here and now 😅.

CanI tell you a secret??
You're beautiful
I've had a weekend of just 'stuff'.
You're lovely as you are.

Those are so much more professionally done. I wouldn’t even go back to the place you’ve been to just now for them to rectify, they seem incompetent. Unfortunately,
there are a lot of substandard eyebrow practitioners out there.

x2boys · 29/08/2026 17:23

I preferred the fashion the early 00s when they were thin and shaped .

Dumbledora8 · 29/08/2026 19:08

they won't last a week OP

ExOptimist · 29/08/2026 19:14

Absolutely terrible. I'd wash them several times a day with an exfoliating wash to try to get the colour out.

lavendarwillow · 29/08/2026 19:26

Cotton wool and a cleanser / oil. They won’t look as harsh tomorrow.
