I have just bought myself a really expensive (for me) diamond ring. £1.5k. I've been planning to do so for.a few years now. I'm so happy the day is finally here.

There's several reasons for this purchase.

-A 50th birthday present to myself.
-XH promised me a very expensive ring to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Our wedding/ engagement rings were bought when penniless uni students, so the ring was to be the treat we couldn't afford then. However we split when i caught him cheating for the 3rd time a few months after our 20th wedding anniversary.
-My finances are finally back on track after the divorce.
-A house extension was paid off a few months ago, so i could save for the ring.
-I got a new job a few months ago that i was head hunted for. More money and likely to be promoted in the next year.
-I've made it through some really tough years emotionally and financially and i was generous with my time and love throughout it all.
-Why the heck not?

I had a little happy tear outside the shop because of all the things purchasing this ring represents to me.

It's my "You are an amazing woman and you always will be" ring. I can't wait to wear it out for the first time!

Celebrate with me!

Ooh! I did exactly the same thing on my 50th, OP. Mine was a little cheaper - it was a few years ago - £900 - but I was very happy with it, I'd had my eye on it for months. Congratulations!

You bloody brilliant woman. You’ve dealt with a lot and come out the other side. Your money, your choice you don’t have to justify it to us, but I can totally see why you’re so chuffed with the purchase, and want to share the meaning behind the ring. I’m smiling and feeling very ‘girl power’ vibes for a stranger on the internet.
