How can we be expected to function in this inhumane world? I want out (of the system... not life)

For context: I'm 49, 2 wonderful DC (17 & 15), single mum, amicable with ex who is a good dad, wonderful boyfriend, own home with mortgage, fulfilling job if a little stressful at times, ageing parents, amazing friends, good social life and time/money to pursue my hobbies. Life is good.

But I'm SO mentally fatigued. Feel like the scales have fallen from my eyes in the past year and am now wholly convinced of what some would call conspiracy theories. Am thinking more about the horrific news of late... Israeli genocide and the lies and gaslighting from governments. How and WHY is this being allowed to happen?! The Epstein files why aren't people pushing for a revolution? How can we be so collectively desensitised to the abhorrent/inhuman revelations? My heart breaks for those poor poor children. Prices constantly going up and scarcity of fuel and food (that I think those in power are engineering as it goes). Climate change and the unending desecration of our beautiful planet. Tecnology ruining brains and being used to influence elections across the world and needing to be online for f**king everything. The media controlled by the elites and controlling our view of the world and ergo our minds. CBDC coming in against peiple's will and stealing financial privacy and freedoms.

It's obvious now that the world is run by 'elites' and tech bros who evidently abuse and sacrifice children. Makes me sick to my stomach. Feel like the world is f**ked.

Sorry for the swears.

I worry so much for my children. I live in a big city but once my DC are established with their own lives I'm outta here, will move somewhere with land, my own water source and go as off-grid as possible and have space for them to live with me if they ever want.

Reading this back, a few years ago I would've thought someone who believed such things was mad and needing psychiatric help. But the world has hard evidence on much of this now! I do have anxiety and am on meds and have it in hand now. I function fine - well even - live a really happy, active life full of love. But it's just tainted by the horrors... and I'm just screaming into the void.

Do I sound batshit crazy to you? Can you empathise at all? I'm scared to say this to friends/family as they'll just tell me I think too much. Maybe I need to stop watching the bloody news. Very aware that perimenopause will be playing a role too.

You sound like you are going down a rabbit hole and struggling to see the good in people . Good advice to put your phone down . Don’t worry about global events you can’t change but focus on small acts that make a difference locally .

Hard disagree with OP. Humans are pretty shit to each other but despite modern problems I’d rather be alive now in the UK than most times in most places. Go for a walk in this fresh autumnal weather. Watch some Planet Earth. Do something kind for someone. Count your blessings.

I got myself into a bit of a state this week because somehow I now have lots of friends who believe the world is run by satanic aliens (or some such toot), baby eating elite and malign world governments who want to kill us all. The final straw was some rather nasty theories about the Goddess that was Dolly Parton. I’d also run out of HRT and thought I was the outlier.

I find it all far scarier than the 3D reality they are claiming to have freed themselves from by uncovering this “troof”. So if that’s the alternative I’ll leave them in their new 5D reality where they don’t watch MSM and get all the real news the elites don’t want us to see from a lad called Ash who over analyses celebrity paws for secret satanic signs he then shares with the faithful

But in all seriousness if you break this down it’s just a load of people, generally living in their mams back bedroom, who don’t have a clue and are making this shit up. You can claim anything online but it doesn’t make it true.

The rest of it Genocide, big tech, climate change. Horrible and tragic though it is, it was ever thus. I’m a child of the latest 70s and we had Protect and Survive, the AIDS crisis and all sorts that were absolutely terrifying at the time. We can’t change the world but we can change our little corner of it by doing what we can and being the best version of ourselves in the circumstances we are given.

I sympathise with you OP. For me the most recent “scales falling” moment has been animal welfare and specifically the meat industry. I always had a nagging feeling about it, but then I really researched it. Once you see these things your world view shifts and there is no going back.

I mean I remember the very real threat of nuclear war and leaflets about white washing your windows and hiding in cellars, the gulf war and the Iraq and Falklands conflict, miners strikes, mad cow disease and droughts (1984 severe one) and the troubles in NI, so nothing for me feels like it’s really changed.

This. In my lifetime, I remember them all as well. Previous generations had even more problems.

Wars have been going on forever. It’s really just a case of getting on with life, making it as good as possible.

I don’t think rolling news and social media helps though - people do carry on as if life is one long tragedy. It’s really not.
