I loved her music, and she died the same day as my granny... 😢

I'm so sorry for your loss, what a truly sad day. Flowers Hopefully they are sharing stories together somewhere. I bet she would have been an amazing dinner guest, I suspect she could regale you with tales for weeks.

DD is going to be so sad. She treasures the memory of meeting Dolly in the airport departure lounge while on a school trip. Dolly must have needed to be somewhere, but nevertheless stopped and chatted to the group of starstuck schoolgirls and was generous with her time. She really was a case of "what you see is what you get" - a genuinely warm, kind and funny person who didn't take herself too seriously and always stayed true to her roots, despite her huge celebrity status. She'll be missed by many. RIP.

”How long does it take to do your hair?”
“I don’t know, I’m never there” 😆

Was just listening to 'why'd you come in here looking like that?' yesterday. So sad to hear of her death. What a wonderful singer she was.

TiredLimeUnicorn · 25/08/2026 20:02

A true legend. An amazing artist who did so much good in the world. RIP Dolly.

Buffythesage · 25/08/2026 20:04

So very sad. We thought she was immortal. Maybe through her songwriting she can be. Sort of.

Morepositivemum · 25/08/2026 20:04

This year just keeps sucking even more, so so sad

HappyImarriedaDarren · 25/08/2026 20:09

I’m so sad. Saw her live once and she was superb. Didn’t miss a note and could play so many instruments. Somebody bubble wrap David Attenborough…

userlotsanumbers · 25/08/2026 20:10

I am gutted. A true heroine, a legend. She deserves every superlative and more.

What a loss.

Triskellion75 · 25/08/2026 20:10

What a life, what a legacy.

TheBlueKoala · 25/08/2026 20:11

Amazing lady who had a rich life. Can't say I'm sad for her because 80 years old is a nice age especially without dementia and shit.

PickledMuffin · 25/08/2026 20:11

dreamingofgoodhair · 25/08/2026 20:12

Silvercoconut · 25/08/2026 20:13

I truly loved Dolly, always since I was a young girl and I'm in my 60s now.
It's strange to feel so sad about someone's death, especially someone you don't know, but I do.
She was by all accounts a wonderful wonderful person.

LadyRoughDiamond · 25/08/2026 20:13

It turns out I cry when the Queen dies, and when Dolly Parton dies.

Her nephew made the announcement minutes ago on her Instagram. She was amazing. I went to Dollywood last year. Just wish I'd seen her live.

I’m going next year and now I’m worried it will juts be so very sad 😭 She was an incredible human being.
Is it a place that will be enjoyable as a tribute?

Someonesomewhereinsummertime · 25/08/2026 20:18

What an incredible woman she was. May she rest in peace ❤️
