Banned from my local supermarket after an argument with a member of staff- my language was bad though.

So today I’ve been banned from my local supermarket, I’m not proud of what happened but I think that the member of staff was also in the wrong.

i was in the fruit and veg aisle looking to get some pre- chopped melon. The ones that come in sealed plastic pots. They were stacked quite tightly and some of the dates were quite soon, so I decided to go towards the back, in doing this I accidentally knocked 5 or 6 pots off the shelf. Immediately a female member of staff was on me- telling me “ you’re supposed to take the ones from the front”. I apologised for knocking some of them from the shelf but explained that it was my choice to choose the date that I wanted. By this point I had reassembled the display, so no harm done. She carried on chuntering so I said something like “ it’s really not a big deal, let’s move on”. As I went to walk away she said, “ it’s just not on”. I’m afraid this is where I let myself down. She was a small pointy woman of about 60 with short dyed red hair. I asked her what her problem was and she said “ customers like you thinking they own the place” to which I replied ( I know this is bad) “fuck off and shut your cunt up you fucking crackhead Anne Robinson lookalike”. It’s not often I take such a low blow but I had a rough upbringing and when I’m really pushed it emerges. The lady stormed off.

as I was leaving a manager asked me if I could step into an office for a chat, I said no thank you. She then said well I’m afraid that you won’t be able to shop here moving forwards.

so that’s that. Not proud of my mouth but she was a fucking horrible twat.

Does anyone remember the TV advert of the mum and toddler? The child wants a multipack of crisps and the mum says no. The child has a massive meltdown and the mum copies, rolling and thrashing on the floor. They get up and walk off leaving the crisps on the floor. I spent everytime shouting at the telly pick up the crisps! Pick up the crisps!

What would the Waitrose woman have thought of that?

It’s always better to take the high road, if a staff member is being rude, don’t sink to their level, just ask to speak to the manager. I understand you were upset but reacting in that way is too much

I suspect that's what they think would be a fitting punishment for OP's behaviour as many of the posts give off Aunt Lydia vibes.

The number of people who are commenting several days later without RTFT or at least OPs comments is somewhat surprising. It's clear OP is taking no prisoners and still they keep coming!

The thing is I’m honestly with chilled and laid back. I just have an aversion to people taking the piss. I think the fact that she made the “owning the place” comment as she walked away didn’t help. The snarky mare

I often send my 10 year old across the road to Aldi and last week the shop assistant stopped me to compliment my lovely son on his good manners and politeness.. you acted appallingly and should be ashamed of yourself! My DP is a supermarket manager and puts up with so much shit from customers it’s shocking!

I wouldn't apologise - she was rude to you first. Unfortunately, in losing your shit, all the blame has now been put onto you and she has no accountability for the appalling attitude and customer service.
Losing your temper just means you shot yourself in the foot.
But no, don't apologise - she was a cunt, you just can't be calling her that out loud.
