Banned from my local supermarket after an argument with a member of staff- my language was bad though.

So today I’ve been banned from my local supermarket, I’m not proud of what happened but I think that the member of staff was also in the wrong.

i was in the fruit and veg aisle looking to get some pre- chopped melon. The ones that come in sealed plastic pots. They were stacked quite tightly and some of the dates were quite soon, so I decided to go towards the back, in doing this I accidentally knocked 5 or 6 pots off the shelf. Immediately a female member of staff was on me- telling me “ you’re supposed to take the ones from the front”. I apologised for knocking some of them from the shelf but explained that it was my choice to choose the date that I wanted. By this point I had reassembled the display, so no harm done. She carried on chuntering so I said something like “ it’s really not a big deal, let’s move on”. As I went to walk away she said, “ it’s just not on”. I’m afraid this is where I let myself down. She was a small pointy woman of about 60 with short dyed red hair. I asked her what her problem was and she said “ customers like you thinking they own the place” to which I replied ( I know this is bad) “fuck off and shut your cunt up you fucking crackhead Anne Robinson lookalike”. It’s not often I take such a low blow but I had a rough upbringing and when I’m really pushed it emerges. The lady stormed off.

as I was leaving a manager asked me if I could step into an office for a chat, I said no thank you. She then said well I’m afraid that you won’t be able to shop here moving forwards.

so that’s that. Not proud of my mouth but she was a fucking horrible twat.

I was about to be on your side because the staff member told you off when you weren't doing anything wrong, but given what you said, it fab you've been banned from the store. No-one should have to listen to you foul mouth, let alone be on the receiving end of it!

Hi @Alderedge1, whether your thread is real or not, it suggests that there is some underlying stuff going on for you (you mentioned ‘rough upbringing’) that is coming out. If your thread is real, something about “Anne” & what she said angered you so much that you went totally over the top to the degree of verbal abuse (that would suggest to me she or what she said reminded you of something difficult); if the thread is not real then you have made it up for some reason - maybe a way to get a reaction?; to try to stir up disapproval from other people or create some conflict? Sometimes people do that because conflict is familiar to them.

Whichever of the above it is, sounds like it could be helpful for you to think it through with someone - not someone on the internet who is going to judge you, but someone in real life who you can build some trust with; someone who can see the different parts of you (the ‘good’ bits too) and can help you make sense of what’s led to this. Hope you find that.

She was a bit of a jobsworth. You were horrifically rude. I must admit, I rather hope your local shops follow the "banned from one, banned from all" approach.

I think the OP is turning rude on purpose now (on this thread) in the hope the thread is deleted, because she knows she's embarrassed herself, and the thread did NOT go the way she wanted.

Wow. I’m glad that the manger backed her staff. Hopefully you will learn from this - I expect you will remember it every time you need to go to a supermarket and have to drive a little bit further.
