Best London park for a walk and picnic?

Never been to any London parks...fancy having a nice walk then picnic.

Staying central London for 3 days so can do any. Will bw tubing and walking

Central London you can't really beat Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens, though both were looking like straw when I was there a couple of weeks ago. But lots of nice trees and shade and the Serpentine and places to get a drink.

Well, what type of park do you want? How long a walk do you want? Do you want something to take up a couple of hours, or half a day? If the latter, I’d go up to Hampstead Heath and make a day of it, if you want to stay strictly central, St James’ Park or Regent’s Park?

Fancy somewhere we can walk, eat food/picnic get a nice drink. So Sepentine would this fit? How easy is it to get there?

I’d get the Uber boat down to Greenwich, mooch through the market up to the park - there a couple of pubs on your way to the park.

Who is “we”? Kids?

St James's Park is my recommendation. Lots of shady areas. You can see the pelicans as well. It's close to Westminster, Pall Mall and Buckingham palace.

Is there anywhere here to grab a drink

When are you there? Serpentine is the lake in the middle of Hyde Park. Marble Arch, Hyde Park Corner, Knightsbridge or Lancaster Gate tubes.
If you're there tomorrow you can queue to see the free David Hockney at Serpentine North Gallery but sold out of booked tickets and tomorrow is the last day. Well worth it. Hockney is by no means my favourite artist but the exhibition made me smile. 🥰

Yes. Lots of kiosks. There's pubs close by as well.

You can only bring a small bag into the Serpentine. Kensington gardens is a bit far from central London but it is lovely.

Going next weekend otherwise DH exhibition sounds fab

Id vote Hampstead Heath every time On the northern line or overground to Gospel Oak.

Lloyd Park walthamstow on Saturday when the food market is on and you can visit the William Morris Museum too ... Plenty of places to get a drink near by (and a short walk from the black horse Beer Mile)

I'm very fond of Regent's Park. You can walk through Belsize Park up to some fantastic views of London. Plus the canals/Little Venice and you'll also catch a glimpse of some of the animals in London Zoo.

I’d say Hampstead Heath as well. Not manicured, and glorious for that and stellar views from the top.
