An unusual and shy artist

I wonder who the private artist is?
Definitely not my style, I love antique and vintage furniture though.
Anyone snapping it up?

Nice, create this post to make fun of someone while finding the line and tiptoeing on it so you can say ‘I’m just curious’ or ‘it’s great just not my taste’. I see you.

I really like the flower side, a picture frame would look pretty painted a similar pattern.

Another one having a laugh. Anyone who seriously asks 400 quid for that piece of tat fully deserves to have the piss ripped out of them. Unless of course it is a suspected money laundering venture, as I mentioned previously. In which case it's fair game to say what you like about said "artwork". I doubt anyone's boo hooing into their latte over this thread. 🤷

The eBay seller missed the letter T out if their name. What a load of shite. I nearly had a stroke reading the description. How embarrassing.

Or it could be someone with learning differences, or an elderly person with dementia. Not as unlikely as a money laundering scam in this instance. The description is long and creative, despite being disjointed and they may not understand pricing and how items are likely to be valued. Something to consider before creating a post to ridicule them.

Alittlefrustrated · 26/08/2026 11:36

It says elderly artist. I'm pretty sure I'd have loved it if the main colour was white rather than gold.
Not everything has to be perfect to be pretty. I have a few pieces of glassware made by a local group of dementia sufferers and their carers. Love them.
I'm not suggesting this artist has dementia, before anyone wades in.

Someone's been watching far too much Salvage Hunters!

Skip needed!

🤣🤣🤣

I mean, there is naïve art, and then there is…..this.

Id say the artist was talentless, even if I was told they were six years old.

I clicked on the link and now the bloody thing is following me round Mumsnet!

Might have been quite a nice little cabinet before.

CookingFatCat · 26/08/2026 21:56

It’s poorly executed upcycling and over priced.

Maybe not as they are from Scotland and it has the same meaning with or without the t

Wadsworthy · 27/08/2026 18:05

It's an abomination. Almost as bad as those "Eat, Pray, Love" style placards some people think are inspirational to hang in their houses.

They are also selling this for the bargain price of just over £30000.

I actually like the repair job
