Afternoon all.
@TodayIsabetterone good luck with the injection & glad Mr T is slowly improving.

I must look into this Merlin app. I hear a lot of birds & it would be interesting to know what I'm hearing. There is a big wooded area on the edge of the village so plenty of birds.
Does it work indoors if the bird is loud? I can stand at the back door but can't physically get out.

It does. I sometimes get it working from my bed if I have the windows open.

@MewithME thats really sweet about DS. I think it's also lovely when you find others that share the same interests. We are in a village but we back onto fields, they've been out muck spreading today so the red kites and buzzards have been going mad overhead watching for the wildlife to get out of the way of the tractors. It's just so fascinating to watch nature at work.

I had the text this morning I've been awarded PIP.

I just burst into tears, I think it was relief.

Oh hurrah! I hope it makes life much easier for you. 😀

Bird life here- pigeons, sparrows, magpies, seagulls. That is it.

martha79 · 30/09/2026 08:27

Oh that's brilliant news @Oioiqueen, I'm so pleased and relieved for you.

Been extra tired the last few days - maybe a bit of flu jab reaction, not helped by the grey and gloomy (but weirdly warm) weather.

TodayIsabetterone · 30/09/2026 08:53

Fantastic news @Oioiqueen that must be a huge relief!

Morning all!

I'm finally off to the osteopath today after being too ill the other week. I can't manage to get up the stairs to the shower so I've managed to do top to toe in three stages, four if you count scraping my hair back into a teeny bun. I am lucky my hair is very very dry and can go weeks just with a good brushing, but nevertheless I feel mortified that I can't manage a shower this week.

DD is coming over at the weekend, not here but staying with her sister 20 miles away, so I'm expected to go over on Friday and Saturday. I intend to rest like mad beforehand!

TodayIsabetterone · 30/09/2026 11:59

Ahhh hope you get some relief at the osteopath @TeaAndStrumpets and how lovely to have both DDs together at the weekend. Hopefully your treatment will have kicked in by then.

Injection day is finally here! 🎉 Otherwise, rest, rest, rest. Friend gave me a new book at the weekend so may start that.
DD and I are half way through watching a film
( Wicked part 2!) so that will distract me tonight if pain gets worse before it hopefully gets better 🙏🤞🤞

Have a peaceful day all

Thanks, had some good stretching and pummelling. Hope it loosens off soon. Yes rest rest test is the motto! DD2 is hoping I'll be there both days but I'll see how I feel the first day. She is sad that we don't get together very much so I don't want to disappoint her.

I am rooting for you today!

FuzzyPuffling · 30/09/2026 12:10

Good luck with the injection @TodayIsabetterone . If it's any help, DH is very pleased with his. His hand was a bit sore yesterday but is hugely improved today. Onwards and upwards!

Brilliant news. So pleased for you.

TodayIsabetterone · 30/09/2026 13:29

Understand you not wanting to disappoint but try not to put too much pressure on yourself. You can only do what you can do. I would absolutely feel the same though 😊

That’s brilliant news @FuzzyPuffling that it’s helped DH. A couple of relatives have had it for various areas and found it helped so I’m really hoping it also trying not to get my hopes up. I’ve been told it can take a few days or more. I’m just relieved to be trying something.

Adding yes my friend had it in her back and and it helped immensely.

I have cut down my visiting to one day as it will be full on with a toddler wanting my attention! I've bought a copy of The Jolly Christmas Postman to take with us so that should distract her for a bit 😀

HannahDefoesSpringFling · 30/09/2026 18:52

Phew @Oioiqueen That's good news. Must be a massive relief

Oioiqueen · 30/09/2026 18:53

To add I had my OH assessment this afternoon and she pretty much told me that I wasn't fit to go back to work for another three months. I was prepared for a fight and I felt like she practically made the decision for me. It was very bizarre and not at all what I expected.

Oioiqueen · 30/09/2026 18:56

@TeaAndStrumpets I loved that book as a kid.

@TodayIsabetterone hope the injection went OK and wasn't too painful whilst they did it. Fingers crossed that it does something to help.

TodayIsabetterone · 01/10/2026 09:06

@TeaAndStrumpets Oh she’ll love the Jolly Christmas postman… how fabulous! One day sounds like an excellent plan, takes the pressure of a bit and you can just enjoy tje time you do manage.

@Oioiqueen thats excellent news that the OH meeting went well and made that decision easier for you.

Injection went fine thanks, not painful going in and apart from usual fatigue at making the appointment, things are no worse today which i had been told could happen while it settles but no ill effects at all. So I’ll take it easy today to recover and see what the next week brings.

I imagine the OH person knows how hard you will find things - it is great that you've got this breathing space. 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 02/10/2026 10:37

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well! I've been doing the rest rest rest thing but it's slow.

My heart rate is shooting up really easily so I'm breaking everything up into tiny tasks. Today I rested after I got up, then waited until hr was in the 80s and walked half way up the stairs to the shower. I sat on the bottom step of the second flight to let it come back down from 125, then continued. Sat on a stool while the shower came to temperature and hr dropped below 100. Put stool in shower, sat on it, washed hair etc. Sat out wrapped in towel, hr dropped from 135 down to below hundred. Brushed wet hair and put dressing gown on..hr back up! Rested some more. Back down the stairs in stages. Unfortunately our only shower is in the dormer conversion so always hard work.

Usually I try to do it all in a rush but that puts me over 150 so not very nice for a while.

Well that's been my day!
