@TodayIsabetterone sorry it wasn't more productive. It's frustrating when it feels like you are not being listened to. I hope you get your referral.

martha79 · 23/09/2026 12:39

Fingers crossed the injection helps @TodayIsabetterone and you can find a way forward.

I'm really tired today after an intense work day yesterday and completely bizarre dreams last night - ranged from being suddenly lost abroad, to being in Doctor Who (David Tennant era, didn't mind that too much apart from the aliens!).

Just had a review appointment with the LC clinic and we agreed to discharge me! Decided I have enough tools/ knowledge to work on things myself and there isn't much else they can offer me at the moment - they did suggest the exercise programme but it only runs out of one gym on a weekday morning and it's really awkward for me to get to. The physio has given me a good plan for very gradual return to exercise anyway, and I can get in touch/ self-refer back any time I need to.

TodayIsabetterone · 23/09/2026 13:19

That sounds positive Martha and good to know you can self refer back if you need to.

I’m smiling at your Dr Who dream 😊 our whole family used to love it especially David Tennant s era so I would have been happy 😀

A positive for me today after a few grumbly posts.

I went with DH and dippy dog around the corner to our nearby fields/ river. Managed to walk it instead of scooting today 👏 It’s only 5 minutes and I sat on a bench whilst they walked on but it’s definitely progress. Resting now as have a shop due shortly.

Hope everyone is coping okay. It’s Wednesday already @MewithME so Friday is on its way!

FuzzyPuffling · 23/09/2026 19:37

Sorry I've not been around...very busy few days.
Anyway, i collected my pottery painting bowl for DD1's birthday.

Aw, thank you x

MewithME · 23/09/2026 21:13

@TodayIsabetterone I can tell I'm back in the work mega-hectic routine because the weeks are whizzing past. I'm hanging in there.

Haven't checked in much but will hope to catch up at the weekend.... Too knackered at the moment in the evenings.

Going for an Epsom salt bath.

Love to you all.

Oh you couldn't make it up! DH tripped whilst dog walking yesterday and after initially saying he was fine, I realised he couldn’t weight bear and was in quite some pain. After a sleepless night he went to A & E to get it checked over. Seems he has badly sprained his ankle not broken it which is something at least but we’re quite the pair between us. I can’t lift or reach on one side and DH is on crutches! He luckily did some batch cooking right before it happened so I only had to re heat, which tbh is tricky enough trying to only use one arm!

Just popped back to the thread and saw this! Oh dear I do hope your DH heals fast, that is really unfortunate. It sounds like you are in for a few weeks of inconvenience to say the least, and his poor ankle must be very painful.
☕🍰

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/09/2026 14:47

@TodayIsabetterone Just to add, DH has a bad limp and I can't lift anything so it certainly makes us resourceful! One very good tip which I'm sure I've mentioned here before is we have an old fashioned tea trolley...ours is pink and gold! It makes transporting drinks from the kitchen so much easier, and we use the bottom shelf for odds and ends like used plates and mugs which seem to accumulate. I think most stuff like sandwiches are fine being carried with one hand but not hot drinks!

TodayIsabetterone · 24/09/2026 14:58

Thanks @TeaAndStrumpets I hope things are settling for you a little and you’re not feeling quite so dreadful. Hope the packing isn’t causing too much stress for DH.

No it’s certainly not ideal. Just one of those freak accidents where he stepped in a hole or something and just went down!

It’s driving to appointments that will be tricky. I can’t see him managing just now so had to cancel the osteopath today.

I’m allowed to drive again now after my various issues but I haven’t yet as really havent felt able to but I may just need to try.

Ah well, We’ll just have to give it time and hope it improves soon for him.

Oh fabulous tip re the trolley! I’ll look and see if I can find anything as yes it’s carrying drinks that are tricky as I can only do one at a time! DH managed to make a coffee by sitting on my perching stool so I guess that will be useful for us both now 😊
And DD is around still as she doesn’t start her trip till January and despite a lot of applications, is struggling to get work. At least I can make use of her!

Thanks I am trying to chill out. Today I watched sewing projects on youtube, that was quite relaxing! I started looking at white goods earlier and could feel the stress rising so have decided to park it until Black Friday. Every time I decide what brand I want I come across a negative review!
The packing is awful! DH is (too) meticulous and is taking hours to pack framed pictures etc. We are using up my bubblewrap mountain so that's good.

Very handy you've got some help!

Our trolley has been fab, 20 odd quid on eBay and really handy!

I'm getting Victoria Wood vibes here...
"Can you see it on't trolley?"

Swanhilde · 24/09/2026 17:23

Forgot to take my reading glasses to work today and really didn't realise quite how much I need them! I've got a banging headache from squinting all day 😩

Still, I'm home now and typing this with them firmly on my face. Have a restful evening all 💕

TodayIsabetterone · 24/09/2026 19:16

lol @FuzzyPuffling Victoria Wood reference made me chuckle! 😂
DH and I always say ‘ red cabbage… how much?’ to each other of we ever have red cabbage and the other shouts back…’ red cabbage… no idea’ Our kids just roll their eyes!

TeaAndStrumpets · 25/09/2026 08:05

Morning all, it's a bit grey here.

I thought we were promised a ' heat dome' ? I always enjoy the scary newspaper headlines when they pop up on my news feed. We haven't been warned about The Beast From the East for a while, that used to be a regular tabloid headline. I should imagine some poor journalist is knocking up a scary weather story at this very moment.

We've got a visitor this morning, not for long but long enough to be press ganged into helping DH lift a heavy chair we need moving. Once upon a time DH would have manhandled it by himself but his hip is so dodgy these days he has to be careful.

@TodayIsabetterone hope you and your DH are coping!

Apart from a visitor, hopefully yet another quiet day for me. My ibs is back with a vengeance so bad tummy pain. It is another lovely crash symptom for me. I keep trying to remember that I have been like this in the past and it didn't last forever.

Forgot to say @FuzzyPuffling how much I loved your pottery painting. I wish I had an eye for colour! I have a box of paint charts and samples for the new house and am too scared to use any of the lovely colours. Trying to avoid white everywhere 😯

martha79 · 25/09/2026 09:14

Morning, very grey here too. I love an exaggerating weather headline too @TeaAndStrumpets - it seems like every year we're supposed to be getting both boiled and frozen.

I have a wildly exciting day here of housework followed by my flu vaccine.

Ha ha yes we treasure them!

TodayIsabetterone · 25/09/2026 09:29

Morning all
We have a little sun, actually been gorgeous here this week. My perfect weather! Sunny but not too hot.

Enjoy your exciting day @martha79 😀 Mines probably similar without the flu jab as that’s next week!

Hope your visitor doesn’t wear you out too much @TeaAndStrumpets and the IBS symptoms settle soon. I often tell myself ‘ this will pass’ and you’re right, it will gradually but not much fun for you right now.

Im not great at planning/ decorating rooms either or envisaging how it will look. I think our rooms just kind of evolve over time. I imagine the idea of planning a whole house might be overwhelming but I guess if you have a neutral base colour, you can add colour and personality over time or in other ways with curtains/ cushions/ rugs ( and tea trolleys! 😀)

Yes so true! We've been here so long and when we first moved in mortgage rates were horrendous so we had to do everything ourselves. All the rooms are different, nothing is styled. We bought a lot of things out of the small ads so I think you could call it eclectic! Our best buy was a massive Victorian sofa, like a Chesterfield but not buttoned, which cost the princely sum of £4! It has been reupholstered a few times over the years and is now in storage. I really want it in the new house but the upholsterer is booked up until July 🙁It is so so comfortable despite being made of horse hair, it has a sprung seat and back and is just low enough for my short legs. We'll probably be on garden chairs for a while!

Oioiqueen · 25/09/2026 10:51

Have you considered a neutral colour all over and a wallpaper feature wall? You can get stick on wallpaper now so no adhesive or paste required. I've told DH that I'm planning on repainting the whole house in one colour. I've got fed up of painting in different colours for it to get knocked or scratched by the kids. Then there is the mass of paint tins in the shed whereas we could be done with a job lot of one colour instead. He wasn't keen, I told him to do the decorating instead then, he didn't like that.

I think if we still had small children I'd be really tempted by paint with marble dust in it which is said to be super tough! Mylands do it.

Oh I adore wallpaper but the rooms have sloped ceilings to cram in enough floor space and they need to be plain to blend in. I do fancy some jazzy wallpaper in the loo though.

My kids were good about not scribbling on walls but when we were selling our previous house our six year old left a felt tip pen in the centre of the beige living room carpet which leaked into a big green splodge. We had to own up to everyone who viewed. We couldn't afford a new carpet, being a through lounge it was too expensive, but luckily the eventual buyers were happy to ignore it!
