Quiet day here. Am meeting my friend for coffee later this morning but that is all I have planned for the weekend other than lots of rest ☕

I'll also have a go at sewing up my jumper. How's your knitting going @martha79 ? 🧶

Have a restful day all 💕

Slowly 😂 I'm enjoying picking it up and doing little bits but too much aggravates my shoulders. So a good exercise in patience!

Been for a little walk this morning where I also met a cheeky squirrel who I'm sure was trying to work out if I had any snacks. Back in bed now with a cuppa and the rest of the cake from yesterday. Would like a charity shop wander but will see how I feel in a bit.

This is spooky..... I just posted and looked outside and.....a squirrel was bouncing across the flat roof for a drink in the puddle (I need a new roof 🙈)! How strange! It's very rare I get one outside my window.

We're surrounded! 🐿️😂

TodayIsabetterone · 19/09/2026 11:04

Watch out! The squirrels are taking over!! 😂🐿️

That’s quite uncanny @MewithME

We have a huge oak tree and this time of year they start to come for the acorns and then bury them in random spots. They used to send my old dog crazy every autumn! Luckily as diippy dog is only small, she can’t see out of the window as easily! She does like to chase them out of the garden though 😂

MewithME · 19/09/2026 12:17

I know! Mine was a skinny wee thing though, bless it. 😊

That roof puddle is attracting birds today..had some magpies earlier....I've only seen pigeons for days! I actually like magpies. I know lots of people don't but I'm a big corvid fan. They're so clever.

Afternoon all. Bright & windy here today.
Dd1 popped in yesterday afternoon with Dgd. She's in early pregnancy & really suffering with sickness & nausea so haven't seen much of her lately. Lovely to see them.
Dd2 may pop in with her Dd either later or tomorrow, depending on afternoon nap time. She's been baking and will bring some goodies with her 😊.
So a quiet weekend.
Finally having my hair cut on Friday. Currently resembling a shaggy sheep dog as it's long over due!
Take it easy everyone & hope you have a lovely weekend.

Oioiqueen · 19/09/2026 15:35

@MewithME glad you a feeling a little more yourself. People just don't think and happily spread germs. I've always been a bit wary as DH is immunosuppressed. Since my diagnosis I always make the kids wash their hands every time they come in the house. I also do the door handles and touch points when someone has the lurgy in our house.

@CoffeeBeansGalore I found anything lemon helped with my awful sickness with DD. Can't stand much ginger in anything so settled on lemon.

We have a resident squirrel that frequents our garden. It's living in our back neighbours garden in a bush. It likes to lie on the top of the fence, both paws over the sides and rest it's head for a snooze. I've never seen another squirrel do it before, it must feel confident of no predators. To be fair my stupid cat is so old and feeble she just stares, she'll show interest in a butterfly from time to time but the local wildlife is very safe.

We also get a toad that comes out each night, a neighbour must have a pond as it lives under DH's garden office and he has to check it's not there when he comes out on an evening incase he treads on it.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/09/2026 15:45

Hi all,

I'm trying to re enter the land of the living. I was alone in the house resting today and I've had to answer three phone calls, two parcel deliveries so not much resting was done. And now the window cleaner has arrived after being off all summer. No cash on me, like the Queen 😉Luckily DH arrived home in the nick of time so I've emptied his wallet!

Hope the funeral was OK @Swanhilde these things are never easy but people do relax and chat when it's over.

Nice to hear all the wildlife stuff. I've just bought a new wood chopping board with woodworm holes in the bark. Does that count?

Swanhilde · 19/09/2026 15:58

Thanks @TeaAndStrumpets ❤️

I had a lovely catch up with my friend. She's an ex-colleague and let me know that another ex-colleague is retiring soon and gave me details of her 'do'. It's in the afternoon, close to my house so perfect. It will be the first time in nearly 2 years that I will have seen others since I was dismissed (made redundant) and I'm actually looking forward to telling them how much better I am since I left that toxic work place 🤣

Managed to sew up half the jumper and have abandoned having a shower. DH is cooking curry for tea 😋

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/09/2026 16:37

@Oioiqueen thank you I will pass on the advice about lemon.

MewithME · 19/09/2026 18:45

@TeaAndStrumpets my window cleaner is lovely but always comes at the least convenient moment.... either when I've just made it back upstairs or about to lie down or about to start a meeting at work or about to leave the house for work or school run!

@Swanhilde I think I'd be better if I could leave my toxic workplace.... Don't think I can though. I have to work and don't know how I could ever move and get the same money and flexibility. I tell myself to notice the good bits all the time because work spends far too much time invading my thoughts when I'm not there. Interactions with so many selfish colleagues leave me feeling awful.... I endure the job mostly which is sad because ten years ago, I thought I loved it. Life has battered me a lot this last decade or so.

Still... upside of menopause... I just don't care like I used to!

TodayIsabetterone · 19/09/2026 19:13

@MewithME I thought of you earlier, looked out of my bedroom window whrn I went for a nap and fat squirrel was back on the bird feeder, knocking off seed with 3 magpies and 2 pigeons strutting around underneath it 😂

Love your brave snoozing squirrel @Oioiqueen

DH thought a squirrel had a dog ball in its mouth the other day 😂 I mean theyre pretty tame but not that much! It turned out we had some mushrooms growing in our wild bit and he was munching away on one!

Always the way @TeaAndStrumpets when you need to rest and things keep happening.

I asked the window cleaner to miss us out a few times when I felt particularly unwell last winter and couldn't bear the thought of the dog barking whilst he was here. Tbf He always used to ask me anyway if I wanted them or not this month but then I realised hadn't seen him in a while. DH saw the boss recently and asked when they were next due and apparently we’ve been struck off the list for being too unreliable!! 🙄 If he’d only have given me a heads up, I would have put up with it as now I have to find a new one which is rather annoying! DH cleaned downstairs but I don’t trust him on a ladder 😂

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/09/2026 10:47

Morning all!
Lovely sunny day here. Another rest one for me. Last week I felt rotten until Friday morning but then had a very tiring afternoon and it set me back. You can't win!

I'm trying to start some Christmas shopping online but it will be token gifts + cash except for dgd. I'm under strict instructions about no huge toys though....it's not a big house.

On the wildlife front we keep getting wasps in the sitting room. I've no idea where they are getting in! Possibly down the chimney. I am at the ready with my glass and piece of card, then out it goes 😀

Wishing everyone a nice weekend.

danglethedingle · 20/09/2026 11:02

I have fewer squirrels than usual at the moment, probably because I have gained a very handsome visiting cat. He (or she) is a lovely grey colour with a white shirt and socks. Like a tuxedo cat but wearing a grey suit instead of a black one. In my head I call him Mungo, or Margo if I decide it might be a girl day.

Ddog is most put out because cat sleeps in the front garden in direct view from the dog's seat on the sofa. The audacity! Still it gives Ddog a new hobby, cat watching as well as protection from postman and Evri drivers.

Planning on doing a bit of garden pottering, and a chicken casserole for later. I might do an art class, I think I am improving a bit. More 8 year old level now 😀

Hope everyone has a lovely restful Sunday. xx

TodayIsabetterone · 20/09/2026 11:14

Ahh great minds think alike @TeaAndStrumpets as I’ve just ordered 3 gifts to make a start on Xmas! I do remember both sets of grandparents liking to buy big toys so I hear where DD is coming from!

Ahh your visiting cat sounds lovely @danglethedingle though I can imagine DDog not sharing that view!

Feeling pretty rough today after a busy week and a bad night. Still in bed this morning so felt some online browsing was something useful I could do and also served as a distraction while the pain killers kicked in! Think it worked a bit as I’m now just motivating myself to get up and have a wander in the garden with dippy dog but today will be mostly spent resting.

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/09/2026 11:33

That's the spirit @TodayIsabetterone these little purchases will lighten the load bit by bit! We've now agreed a replacement bike for Christmas so there is no more space being taken up.

I laughed at your watchful dog @danglethedingle ! DD1 has a Jack Russell and when they lived in town he used to stand in the bay window and guard the safety of the whole street (very loudly) - the poor neighbours.

Swanhilde · 20/09/2026 12:59

The jumper is finished! 🧶

Just the shower to have now and that's my tasks for today. But I will drink my cuppa first ☕

Sun is out here too, and it's feeling v autumnal. I think it's the equinox tomorrow 🍂🍁

Have a peaceful Sunday all 💕

Swanhilde · 20/09/2026 13:00

Finished jumper 💚

TodayIsabetterone · 20/09/2026 13:33

That’s gorgeous @Swanhilde You are clever!

Ahh a new bike is exciting @TeaAndStrumpets

Sun is out here and it’s very warm. Had a little potter around the front garden so as to move my body a little but as my neighbour is doing the same, I’ve had to bring my little guard dog indoors. I just dont really have the energy today, I’m already planning when I can go for a nap and I’ve barely been up. Days like this aren’t much fun but it will pass.

martha79 · 20/09/2026 14:21

That's lovely @Swanhilde - I'd buy that if I saw it in a shop!

I spent ages untangling my knitting wool last night, it's very fluffy so that was a challenge. Managed a bit of knitting though.

It's lovely and sunny here - felt warm when I popped out earlier but quite chilly when I sit still. Ocado have been (the alleged Plum van that actually has figs on it) and I've unpacked the shopping. Met my new upstairs neighbour who was having trouble getting the front door open (there is a knack!) - she seems nice enough and so far not too loud even though she's obviously wandering about unpacking. I swear the previous people must have had very heavy legs 🤣

Had a little tidy of the entrance hall bit downstairs - there's been a couple of dried out reed diffusers down there since I moved in, so I've perked them up with some lovely M&S Apothecary stuff I ordered with my groceries. The floor down there and the stairs could do with a sweep/ mop but I think that might be a job for another day.

MewithME · 20/09/2026 16:41

I feel loads better today so either the crash is passing or the virus if that's what it was...maybe both.

I have possibly over done it today but I'm in a .. don't care mood. At least today was have spent my energy on me and DS and not work!

I got my errands done ...new rear wiper for car, returns to shop etc. We saw a Lego set for DS so we bought it....a Xmas present done! Then we popped in the garden centre for a cuppa and some bedding plants. I made a new hanging basket to replace the summer one which is now gone. And I got some pansies and heather. Now sitting, letting HR go down before I go inside ...

Still need to call Mum, empty the drier etc. but it's been a good day.

Love the jumper! Clever clog!

Oioiqueen · 20/09/2026 17:05

@martha thank you for the Ocado van update! Don't think I've seen a fig one.

@MewithME glad you are on the mend

Done a bike social event with the kids and some friends. Minding one of the kids aside one of my own whilst waiting for the bigger ones to return. I've worn myself out! Just drank a cup of tea and will keep moving as I'm worried I might fall asleep haha!

JewelleryCat · 20/09/2026 18:49

That is a beautiful jumper @Swanhilde

Swanhilde · 21/09/2026 09:01

Not at work today but I have an interview this afternoon for the role I have been acting up in. I have really enjoyed doing it so fingers crossed 🤞

They are of course aware of my limitations and I was very honest on my application, so we will see ... I think I might wear my new jumper for luck 🍀

Have a restful day all 💕

Oioiqueen · 21/09/2026 10:01

@Swanhilde good luck 🍀 fingers crossed ifs just a formality that they need to jump through to offer you the role.
