Rained heavily yesterday. We're east Durham.

The grass next to our house was so scorched. We don't own it but obviously nothing can be done.
It was such a relief to see the rain 🌧
Keeps promising to today but nothing so far.

Raining right now in my bit of the SE - North west Kent. Don't know how long it will last, we had a shower on Sunday night - literally had weeks of no rain. I can't even remember the last time it rained before Sunday.

PleaseDontTreadOnTheDaisies · 19/08/2026 01:03

Aaaaaaaaand it's just stopped. I'll be doing a rain dance at this rate.

Hampshire. Measley 5 minutes drizzle this morning (technically yesterday morning,) - but it raining right now! I went and stood in the garden and cried. It's raining!

caringcarer · 19/08/2026 01:06

Midlands it rained overnight but not a lot.

Edinburgh. We've seen plenty of it throughout the summer.

Same in Fife.

BansheeOfTheSouth · 19/08/2026 01:11

South West Scotland, have only had 3 dry days since start of August.

MargaretMeldrew · 19/08/2026 01:32

Plenty of rain in Co Down over the last couple of days. We have had some great weather this summer but it wasn’t consistently dry. Our default is rain so if we have a few dry days, as soon as the rain starts again, we have collective amnesia that there was ever any sunshine😆

That's mad when most places have been crying out for rain.

Not most places in Scotland!

That's mad when most places have been crying out for rain.

Only one place in Scotland went above 30°C this year. Even in July we still had about 2/3 of our average rainfall. Think Ireland was much the same @MargaretMeldrew ?

mydiorsandals · 19/08/2026 09:30

It rained a bit last night when my DH was going to the pub, he was moaning he had to put his mac on ! (NW coast)

We were threatened promised a thunderstorm last night but it never materialised. Just had a heavy shower now and it looks black as your hat to the NW (where all our weather comes from !) so maybe more to come.

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 19/08/2026 09:34

Rained heavily all night here in south Hampshire and still raining now.
So happy!
Our poor New Forest had a catastrophic fire which the fire brigade has been managing for 8 days. Almost 2 square miles burnt to ashes.

Fallulah · 19/08/2026 09:44

North Hampshire - a bit of rain in the night but nothing significant. Hoping for more today.

Edited

I have friends right up North (Scotland) they said they've hardly had any sun.

We have had rain overnight and this morning. My son was off out puddle jumping at 7.30am this morning. We are in Dorset.

Sheswatchingyou · 19/08/2026 09:51

SW Scotland it’s always raining here, as with everywhere on the west side rain is our default position, although admittedly less this year than normal.
Monday night temp also dropped quite a few people said they put their central heating on or lite their log burners; goodbye summer hello winter 😕.

APurpleSquirrel · 19/08/2026 09:53

We had a few showers yesterday morning & heavier rain overnight (the water butts are full!) - Somerset/Devon border. It’s the first rain we’ve had since early June.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 19/08/2026 09:57

Dorset. A little bit of rain yesterday morning, then been raining steadily since about 1am. Just drizzle now though.

I'm on the South coast. No rain here.

I'm in Brighton (SE) We've got lovely steady rain at the moment. (Of course we have-I had my fluffy spaniel groomed yesterday-it's like having rain after you wash your car)

TheOliveFinch · 19/08/2026 10:47

East Devon heavy rain overnight

TheSmellOfSea · 19/08/2026 13:47

South Hampshire - we have had loads!

danglethedingle · 19/08/2026 13:52

West Gloucestershire, we had a smattering overnight, not enough to do any good. Nothing since.
