I'm awake with a gallbladder flare up. I'm awaiting an operation at some point in the near future.
Anybody want to chat?
How's everybody's weekend?

What are your symptoms? 💐

shellyleppard · 16/08/2026 23:02

@MyGallbladderIsAFucker have you got any mints? Or windeaze tablets? Sometimes I find they help with the pain. Hope you feel better soon x

You poor thing. I no longer have a gall bladder and it took me two years to summon the courage to have the op. Crazy me - I really suffered. Hope you get your op soon and till then eat no fat.

The European athletics championships have been great! Did you watch any?

MyGallbladderIsAFucker · 16/08/2026 23:10

Thank you for the suggestions re peppermint that's a new one on me! Will try this tomorrow.
I've just got a lot of pain it's just an intense severe pain. It makes me sick sometimes too which is not good.
I'm having a cup of tea and a big drink of water I've taken some cocodomol on.

@WorkingItOutAsIGo how was your recovery?

I haven't watched any championships unfortunately! I'm not a really sporty person. Been enduring the school summer holidays with a four year old! Hate this weather too 😆 how have you found the weather?

shellyleppard · 16/08/2026 23:14

@MyGallbladderIsAFucker its finally raining!!!!y rain dance must have done some good 😊
Hope you feel better soon x

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 16/08/2026 23:14

Thanks for asking! My recovery was slower than some people I know who were at parties two days later, but was good and I have had no problems ever since. Such a relief!!

I am so glad today was a bit fresher - we even had a breeze! Hope you're lying down in bed! I ended up needing to lie down in all sorts of places when it got too bad - I knew which loos at work were big enough!

pinkdelight · 16/08/2026 23:18

Ugh that pain is the worst. Nothing really touches it I found, short of getting to A&E and on the morphine. I was admitted for the op but it kept getting cancelled and postponed. Ended up paying for it to be done privately as the attacks were getting so frequent it got to be unbearable. Take care and good luck getting it sorted asap!

BlackeyedSusan · 16/08/2026 23:20

I'm awake with IBS pain but that is considerably easier to sort and less painful today at least.

Smooth muscle of tubes spasming is very sore. Hope you get your op soon.

Just back from the crispy east Midlands. Really seeing how easy it would be for fire to take hold easily.

FeelingOldOldOld · 16/08/2026 23:23

I had my gallbladder out a couple of years ago, after panicking about the operation for several years prior to that. It was amazing really, I had sort of forgotten that you go to sleep then just wake up what feels like a minute later and it is all done. Recovery was fine, I spent maybe a week on the sofa watching tv dramas with a blanket, then was sort of back to normal, and all completely fine after two weeks. I have been so grateful to have had it out, I have had no side effects, and no longer have awful pain in my gut that lasts for hours. I really recommend it. I regret not getting it done sooner!

SaraHoliday · 16/08/2026 23:23

I'm just an insomniac that spends far too much time on here!

Ragingoverlife · 16/08/2026 23:24

I found puking eased the pain quicker as it stopped the gallbladder contracting. Hope your op is sooner rather than later.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 16/08/2026 23:25

Signing off for the night but hope it eases soon and you get some sleep - you need it with a four year old!

smallglassbottle · 16/08/2026 23:52

Oh no, that's so painful. Can you get a hot water bottle over the area? It helps with the pain. Try to get some Buscopan or Mebeverine (prescribed) in for when this happens. Try a hot drink too.

That Dr Berg on youtube has some useful tips on relieving the pain if you can search.

Beans074 · 16/08/2026 23:54

I feel your pain! Lying here with 2 hot water bottles after taking codeine, buscopan and diclofenac.
Peppermint tea does sometimes help to ease things and is also good if you're nauseous.
Another thing I try to do is breathing exercises. I can't take full deep breaths when it's bad as the pain is right along my diaphragm but just try to concentrate on slow steady breathing. Keeps my mind on something and just keeps me calm. I definitely find the pain gets even worse when I'm all worked up.
Really hope it eases for you soon 🙏

Starlight7080 · 16/08/2026 23:56

Hope it stops soon . Buscopan and water helps me. Its an awful pain . Sleeping upright helps me also when in a flair up. Well as much as you can sleep when its bad

pinkdelight · 17/08/2026 08:22

Exactly same @FeelingOldOldOld- that sofa fortnight bingeing boxsets gallbladder-free was blissful. Not painless ofc but at least it was the pain of post-op healing and so glad it was out. And hated how long I’d had to wait, even for diagnosis. So many wrong calls and wasted time by medics even though I was textbook for gallbladder issues (‘fat, female, forties, fair, fertile’ is the delightful phrase I believe!). Really hope OP gets it sorted sooner and can be enjoying good telly and getting well again.

MyGallbladderIsAFucker · 17/08/2026 08:38

Oh I'll look forward to being referred to as fat female fertile (allbeit late thirties) fair. Ha.

Can I ask for the gallbladder sufferers did anything come up on tests to do with your liver?

I made myself fall to sleep last night knowing my daughter would be up at 430 because it's too warm and she doesn't like it warm.

Thank you for your kindness all x

Never anything wrong with my liver, but my mum had the complication its really common and you can also blast that when it hits pancreas or liver it was worse for you.
