Mine is in Titanic (1997). The immediate aftermath of the ship hitting the iceberg and the reaction to it. I have seen the
film more times than I can count but bit still takes my breath away.

The Truman Show. When he finds the door and he’s going. Breaks me every time.

AplineDaisies · 16/08/2026 22:29

When Moana tells the ocean "Let her come to me" and so Te Ka/ Te Fiti does. The music is beautiful.

A wok to remember always hits me in the feels, especially the scenes after landon finds out about Jamie’s cancer. The end bit aswell where he’s in medical school. Shortly after that Shane west joined ER.

a dogs purpose when they talk about the same dog soul in different dog bodies.

@SockPlant the scene on the roof in Blade Runner in the rain with Rutger Hauer and the dove

This for me too 'I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.'

I hoped that someone else would say the end of Pride. When the miners turn up at the end it just makes me ugly cry every time.

Yes especially when you find out what happened to them all xxxx

I adore everything about this film.

The scene where Sam Neil cuts off Holly Hunter’s finger 😵😵😵

The music ❤ The daughter ❤ The sign language ❤ Holly Hunter's crinoline swaying ❤

gmgnts · 16/08/2026 22:59

Almost any scene in The Sound of Music . Take your pick - I am 16 going on 17; Maria and the Baron dancing; the wedding; the children swimming in the lake; the von Trapps singing in front of the German Gestapo audience. All absolutely classic and wonderful!

DaisyDooley · 16/08/2026 23:16

Emma Thompson in the courtroom scene from ‘In the Name of The Father’. And when Daniel Day Lewis says he’s going out the front door.

Courtrooms - of course Tom Cruise/Jack Nicholson in ‘A Few Good Men’. I must have watched that scene 100 times.

The Others - The scene where Nicole Kidman finds the ‘death Picture’ . The horror on her face as she realises send shivers down my spine ever time.

The Deer Hunter - Where Nicky (Christopher Walken dies).
Platoon - Where Elias dies - music courtesy of Samuel Barber - played by Willem Defoe.

Out of Africa - either the scene where Denis ( Redford) is reading to Karen ( Streep) or when she finds out he has died. The music is so wonderful

Ill probably be thinking of more at 2am!

The dancing round the table scene in beetlejuice

DaisyDooley · 16/08/2026 23:18

Oh and the opening bit of UP where we see the life of the old couple. Ellie and ……can’t remember his name!

DaisyDooley · 16/08/2026 23:19

Oh God -the Toys getting hold of each others hands as they slide towards the incinerator in Toy Story 3 which has to be one of the best films ever made!

BansheeOfTheSouth · 16/08/2026 23:20

@HowardTJMoon I used to drive my partner nuts quoting Dogma, one of my all time favourite movies.

@BasilParsley @Yorkshireteaalwayswins "That all you got lady? Two wrong feet in fucking ugly shoes" Love that movie.

Another fave scene BtVS, Paul Reubens' death scene.

LOTR the scene ending with "Don't tell the Elf" "Not a word".

"How long is a day in the dark? Or a week? The fire is gone now, and I'm horribly cold... The lamp has gone out, and I'm writing in the darkness."

Brought tears to my eyes honestly. I think the whole film is beautiful and KST mesmerising.

My Best Friend's Wedding. Rupert Everett singing Dionne Warwick in the restaurant.

I also like the final scene of Working Girl when Melanie Griffiths phones her friend from her corner office.

Love this scene too. One of my favourite songs… ‘let the river run…’

The kitchen table scene in Moonstruck where the family are waiting for Johnnie Camareri ( Cher's fiancé.) It's a masterclass in acting from Olympia Dukakis and Vincent Gardenia .

I love Moonstruck. ‘In time you’ll drop dead and I’ll come to your funeral in a red dress.’

Superb.

maxslice · 16/08/2026 23:49

Brad Pitt as Death in the movie, Meet Joe Black when he discovers and tastes peanut butter for the first time. It’s incredibly sexy.

The audition scene in CODA

Final dance scene dirty dancing

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 16/08/2026 23:57

Oh god, the bit at the end of Gladiator when his friend buries the figurines and says, ‘I will see you again…..but not yet, not yet.’

I am inconsolable for about three hours afterwards, every time. For me it encapsulates that terrible feeling of loss and grief when someone you love dies, and you need to keep going, for whatever reason. Heartbreaking.
