Mine is in Titanic (1997). The immediate aftermath of the ship hitting the iceberg and the reaction to it. I have seen the
film more times than I can count but bit still takes my breath away.

Never Ending Story when he rides on the big white dog dragon.

Also Return of the King for me, but the scene with the lighting of the beacons. The music, the scenery... Gives me goosebumps!

And a very different film, the final dance scene in Strictly Ballroom. "Will Scott Hastings and partner please leave the floor!!". Always makes me cry.

The Riders of Rohan appearing at Minas Tirith and the subsequent charge.

Dymaxion · 16/08/2026 21:35

The scene in Pretty in Pink where Duckie dances around the record shop to Try a little tenderness.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2026 21:35

Batman returns when Michael Keaton meets Michelle Pfeiffer after she has transformed into cat woman

'can I call you?'
'I'm listed'
'I'm tempted'
'I'm working'
'I'm leaving' as the lift doors closed

it's just always stuck in my mind!

An Affair to Remember where Cary Grant walks into the bedroom and realises why Deborah Kerr didn’t meet him at the top of the Empire State Building

and then the replay in Sleepless in Seattle

Another vote for the final scene of Billy Elliot. So emotional.

Also the scene in witness where Harrison Ford sings 'Don't know much about history' and dances with Kelly McGillis. Wonderfully acted and filmed.

Great question!

-Inglorious Basterds - final scene ‘This might just be my masterpiece’

-Mary Poppins - Step In Time

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2026 21:38

oh my goodness, Lilo and Stitch

'This is my family. It is little and it is broken, but still good. Yeah, still good'.

The end of The Shawshank Redemption. It’s my absolute favourite movie ever

Chickenwing2 · 16/08/2026 21:40

Hidden Figures - When Katherine Johnson is explaining to Kevin Costner that the reason she keeps disappearing from her desk is because the black ladies toilet is in a different building. Really emotional scene.

winewine · 16/08/2026 21:40

The usual suspects when Kevin spacey walks out of the police station and his limp straightens out.

Bananacrepewithnuts · 16/08/2026 21:40

Rainman Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise coming down the escalator suited up and ready to count cards in the casino.
Love it.

When is someone going to say the film I had a bit part in?

Sherararara · 16/08/2026 21:40

Con Air - Poe meeting Larkin - “And what are you going to do for me?”
”What do you think I’m gonna do? I’m gonna save the fuckin day”. So cheesy and exactly what you wanted him to say!

The Rock. Masons walk past the prisoners in Alcatraz. Cool hero moment.

National Treasure. The 2 stage end scene when they discover the treasure. They see the 1st bit of the room and you think, ok, not bad, a tad underwhelming. Then Nic Cage lights the flames and as they spread they reveal more and more of the huge cavern full of treasure.

What really makes all these scenes is the music.

Fiftyandme · 16/08/2026 21:42

‘I love you’
‘I know’

iykyk

grrrlatrix · 16/08/2026 21:42

Hmmm.
A cliche if you’re a 90s child like me, but when Tybalt arrives at the petrol station in Romeo and Juliet. ❤️❤️❤️

Pebbles16 · 16/08/2026 21:42

The scene in Jack & Sarah where he pops the baby in a jiffy bag (I think with a sock on her head) and tell her she looks fab. The bits before then are so heart-rending and then you suddenly feel "this is going to be okay".

Middlemarch123 · 16/08/2026 21:44

The dance scene in pulp fiction. Travolta and Uma. Brilliant

nopiesleftinthisvehicle · 16/08/2026 21:45

Braveheart without a doubt:
The narration switches to William Wallace:
They fought like Warrior Poets,
they fought like Scotsmen and won their Freedom 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

and the visual is perfection. 💙

Oh yes, this is an incredible scene. You really feel her pain and fury.

Emma Thompson bedroom, smoothing the bed down. Love Actually

I’m a bit of a film buff and generally hate Love Actually but this scene is outstanding. There’s something that she captures that resonates with all of us. It pulls the heart strings like no other scene I can think of in any movie.

its a room and scene loaded with symbolism, her in her rigid frumpy clothes
in a dull brown uninviting unsexy smoothed down untidy bedroom crying,
Joni Mitchel’s plaintive anthem playing, the cd her consolation prize and not
the necklace, a powerful resonant scene, often referred to, good choice!

YES. Love that film.

Jewelanemone · 16/08/2026 21:50

'What's in the box?'

That whole scene from Seven.
