Help can daughters haircut be rescued to what she wanted?

DD is gutted with her new hair cut she wanted and edgy mullet instead she describes it as she looks like a middle aged mum from the 80s about to go to knitting club. Nothing wrong with that but not the look she was going for at 19.

Can this be rescued and turned more into what she wanted? I wonder if it needs the top layers shortened or does she just what a few weeks then do something?

She has ringlets 3B hair but fairly thin although lots of it so looks thick.

Posting with DD permission can you help give her ideas whilst her hair is pretty when it's long it takes a lot of work and irritates her.

Yes, it could be cut more around the ears and have fringe in for a shaggy pixie cut effect which looks like what she was going for. It's partly the lack of fringe which is making it look 'mumsy'

Different parting/fringe and cut higher on the sides - they've given her a short bob rather than a mullet. A decent hairdresser should be able to rescue it to an extent.

Yes, it can be rescued but she needs someone who understands and can cut curly hair well. That’s unlikely to be the majority of high street hairdressers, so she needs to spend a bit of time researching someone who’s good with curly hair. Look at the styles they post on social media or ask for recommendations.

It needs the shape changing, adding a fringe and cut tighter into the neckline area.

I've not got much useful advice but fuck me, your poor girl. They've really done a number on her gorgeous hair. It's the parting and fringe. Absolute bastards. I imagine at 19 she'd have found it hard to stand up to them at the time and they have taken advantage of that.

Could she tuck or clip the sides behind her ears ? And bring some of the hair at the front sides forward to create a fringe, if it's too long like that I'd cut a fringe myself or go to a hairdressers to cut it.

Absolutely can be rescued - she needs to get a refund first - that’s not what she asked for. Then needs a better stylist - get recommendations

To answer questions this is a curly hairdresser she's been to before and I trust to do my hair but she seems to have got it wrong this time.

I wondered about going around out town today and seeing if anyone thinks they can rescue it problem is many a time I've heard yes we know how to deal with curly hair when it turns out they don't!

Hadn't thought of refund but will chat to her about it, she specifically saved up and waited to come back from uni to see this hairdresser so maybe she does need to go back in and be honest with her.

Looking at the pictures more I think you are all right more out of the sides and more of a fringe.

Just put it through AI is this where people think it should be cut so we can be very specific.

I can't help with the hair itself, but might be worth searching "curly hair hairdresser/stylist [your area]" on instagram/tiktok and seeing what comes up. Then you'll be able to see examples of their work etc (I'd still check reviews)

Her hair is curled at the base roots on the nape but not on the top of the head and around the forehead and ears.

Therefore she'll not get an overall curl.

I’m sure it can be rescued. Is it worth considering a trendy barber who does lots of modern mullets on boys?! A lot of boy teens have curls and go for mullets.

My female boss has short hair and goes to a barber rather than hairdresser 🙂

I agree with needing to go somewhere ‘trendy.’ Yes, she needs someone who understands curly hair but also needs someone who understands alternative fashion and what a mullet is supposed to look like and, importantly, when a mullet is on trend and when it is just a hairstyle disaster. A barber is definitely not a bad suggestion.

Looks like they’ve left too much weight on the sides - I’d imagine if they thinned it out it would look more like the pics. Tell her we’ve all been there - I was left with a Phil Oakey one sided bob once!!

A good hairdresser would want to make it right. I’ve gone back to various hairdressers at times to have a cut adjusted. So I would suggest going back to the hairdresser who did it and asking for some more to be taken off to get it how she wanted.

That looks like my haircut which I’m very happy with as a 50 year old woman. It is not the haircut she asked for!

I do think it can be made more into a mullet with a fringe and more off the sides. Did the first hairdresser cut it dry? If not, I think she definitely needs someone who will do that for her.

This can deffo be fixed to look more like the inspo pics absolutely any good confident cutter would.love doing this !
I find a lot of hairdressers nowadays can't seem to do shorter hairstyles !
Go somewhere where they have a good cutter on socials and don't be frightened to ask if they are 100% confident cutting this particular style ! Because trust me if their not they won't do it I've worked with alot of stylists who hated doing short hair cuts !
It's to long in the crown and the sides and once those sections have been corrected the back should look more balanced out !
Good luck don't despair and I would go back and get a refund because that's a terrible haircut !

I have a lovely hairdressers that me and my mum have gone to for years . But I took one of my teens recently and we clicked after that although they are brilliant at what they do. They dont get trendy/edgy hairstyles at all.
We also just found a hairdressers more suited to the style she wanted and all worked out fine .

Yeah because the ones in the images are shorter and it needs a fringe. But the model in image looks like their hair is a bit curlier? Deffo go elsewhere though as if she showed that pic and got that haircut as a result that's not a good hairdresser.

I'm not really sure I need a curly hair specialist thou to cut this u just need a good haircutter who knows modern stylists !
