What flooring do you have in your bathroom? Is tile then only real option?

I've had 'vinyl roll' in the past and I'd like something nicer really. It was rather wet and mouldy when we pulled it up too.

I can't imagine laminate doing well inna bathroom.

Is tile the only way?

My house had fully tiled floors in all the bathrooms. Separate plumbing issues meant taking up two tiled floors and it was horrible. I wouldn't tile a bathroom floor again, though I do think they look great. I have vinyl in those bathrooms.

Vinyl or LVT. Tiles are beautiful but if you have a plumbing issue then they need to be destroyed to get the floor up.

Amtico LVT in the ensuite.
Polyflor Camaro LVT in the downstairs loo.
And the main bathroom, which needs a refit, still has the carpet which was laid by the 1st owners of the house which was built 27 years ago.

We have laminate which is fine, had no issues at all in our bathroom.

We had tile laid in our shower room (level access) which is also fine. So far, so good. My advice is, if you do that, get underfloor heating as it's cold without. Underfloor heating isn't especially cheap to run, that might be a factor in your decision.

Sheet vinyl in one, LVT in the other. Never had a problem with either, even when we replaced the old sheet vinyl, was fine underneath.

Two bathrooms have ceramic tile but the downstairs is being renovated and my dh has laid woodblock flooring. It’s gorgeous. It only has a shower in there, no bath.

I’d never have a tiled bathroom floor again, not after something heavy was dropped and one tile was cracked right across. Plus, they were very slippery when wet.

Since then we’ve had good quality cushioned vinyl flooring, in both bathrooms and the downstairs loo. Whether it’s ‘fashionable’ or anything else I care not at all. It’s warm underfoot and so easy to clean.

Amtico in all bathrooms, kitchen and ground floor as a whole

@JackJarvisEsq what do you hate about it? We’re redoing our bathroom soon and were planning to get LVT of some kind (currently have sheet vinyl which was a temporary replacement for the carpet that was in there when we moved in 🤮)

Had Amtico in our old house, porcelain tiles now.

The tiles are beautiful but less forgiving if you have anything breakable like soap dishes or dispensers etc. So something to think about if there are children or you're clumsy like me!

If you want tile, but worried about slipping, they have textured tiles which help.

its hard to keep clean, I have to get on my hands and knees with a magic sponge to actually clean it

its lifted up so many times, especially at the patio doors as the heat has dried it all up. The kitchens been re-laid 3 times

it was installed by the house builder so it’s possible it’s them who’ve done it badly, it wouldn’t surprise me given all the other issues we’ve had with this place

Interested too in why you hate it. I thought it was supposed to be warmer underfoot than vinyl. What would replace it with?

We have glossy tiles that are all form of hell. They came with the house and look really posh and everyone comments on them but they get sticky easily, attract dust and dirt and look filthy so have to be cleaned very regularly (then they look amazing 😅) I sound like a moan when people compliment them because it’s hard not to say how much I hate them!!!!

Depending on where you are, I don't know.If you've been subjected to the heat wave that the south east has.But my child bathroom floor has been wonderful. In over 35c heat it stays relatively cool if you keep the blinds drawn in the bathroom. Laminate and vinyl just heats up.

we had vinyl sheeting in our last bathroom,we were selling. underneath was the original black 1930s tiles, but they had been ruined. we have porcelain now,they aren't smooth or slippery. Very expensive per sq metre, but not a very large area

LVT in bathroom and kitchen, wouldnt have anything else. Hard-wearing and warm underfoot (obviously a bonus in winter, rather than now)

I have wood effect vinyl roll in mine and I’m happy with it. I’ve had tiled bathrooms before and they’re so hard and cold.

Mine is floorboards. Just varnished in yacht varnish 30 years ago . It’s absolutely fine and obviously cost only a tin of varnish.

Mine are lino (rental), but I haven't got around to changing them yet. LVT is an option. I am grateful that you're not considering carpet (recalls the carpet in my grandparents' bathroom before it was changed to a wet room...)!

LVT! Really hardwearing and much easier to clean than tiles

We have cushioned, non slip, vinyl. Stone floor-tile pattern. Warm and slightly soft under foot, easy to clean. Was dead cheap.

Replaced pink shag-pile carpet that was there when we moved in !£#&.

Now, 22 years on, it is still looking good.
