Firstly I appreciate this is not the same for the rest of the country

but we’ve had it horrific here (London). I’ve never felt so shit in my life as I have for the last 10 weeks. I’ve spent between £250-350 a month on electricity (portable air conditioners). I’ve felt anxious, headachy, it’s FUCKED with my peri menopause (brain fog, no words, cognitive decline). I’ve felt tearful and as if it would go on forever. There are moments where I’ve thought I can’t take another moment of this. My sleep is proper fucked.

level I can. Air conditioners only when necessary, above 26 inside (DH has long Covid so literally throws up in heat). His asthma is exacerbated. The dogs have had the shittest summer. I’ve had a couple of rescues that can’t go out about 22 degrees. I reckon they’ve been walked briefly 3 times a week. We deliberately went away on a cheap caravan holiday twice just so they could smile. There were endless days I couldn’t work as too hot in my home office and clients cancelled.

I cannot wait til Saturday.

I hope for solidarity from others. I want to wear a fucking hoodie again. I’ve spent every day sat around in my underwear inside for vast stretches of the day. This is not sexy.

Is it though? I remember in recent years there being bouts of high temps in September 😭

I cannot wait for crisp mornings when I can pop on a big woolly jumper, jeans and boots, my big jacket, and on an evening dig out the plug in throw. Bring on the dark nights, scented candles, and cosy evenings snuggling with my dog. She’s had a miserable summer in the heat and has suffered with the scorching temps.

I live in south wales. Constantly smells of burning here. However we are grateful to those trying to stop the fires. Im fed up of being hot and tired. Its so hard trying to please kids aswell this summer as its too hot to stay outdoors for long and to hot indoors. My bloody house takes ages to heat up winter time and is always cold yet now its holding onto heat like a bitch. Sick of salad, sick of ice cream, sick of summer.
No one can complain when we have a cold, wet winter. Praying for rain but, did a rain dance in my pants and bra so thats probably why it hasn't rained. Sorry guys 🤣

I love it. Must admit working was hideous with no air conditioning. But been fine otherwise. I’ve only had trouble sleeping twice, and I’m in the middle of menopause - not affected at all since I’m on HRT.

Not looking forward to the long cold and wet Winter, although Autumn is great.

Yes the forecast for the next couple of weeks is normal British summer temperatures. What I would like to know though is why you appear so desperate to wear a hoodie? They are awful fashion like New York graffiti artists. I grew up in times where Ladies actually wore skirts and dresses especially in the summer. It seems now women cannot wait to get back into jeans and trousers as soon as the weather lets them, and I really do not understand that.

We wear what we feel comfortable in. Often that's jeans, hoodies, things like that. For me it is skirts and dresses all year round, but absolutely not anything 1950s style - I'm more daft old bat style.

Nooooo, hopefully just a little break in the weather before another heatwave. I’m hoping for September and October heatwaves. Sorry! I’ve loved the weather, it’s been glorious. And has also helped MASSIVELY with my husband’s business which relies on decent weather and tourism.

26 used to be considered hot! Still is in here in Scotland. We have had a few days hitting 30 but mainly low to mid 20s. Hope it eases for you all soon. I’ve struggled to sleep this summer, must be a nightmare in England & Wales ( or would be if you can get to sleep).

There are people out there who have lost everything. I saw a post on Facebook from a trainee nurse in Stourbridge who has lost her home and her beloved cats. There was a young couple on the news just now whose son only managed to save 1 bit of lego, there daughter thinks the fire is going to get her.

Posts like yours and so many others going on about how great it is, are completely tone deaf. Wishing more bloody heatwaves on an already damaged country.

Which wouldn't have spread so quickly if it weren't for the heat and lack of rain. It's the fact everything is so dry which is causing them to spread so quickly.

Yep, it’s the crap sleep that has destroyed my productivity. And the kids haven’t slept well so are grumpy. Can’t wait for a snuggly duvet sleep. I don’t want it hotter than 25 degrees unless I am on holiday in the pool

You are so right - I’m in the same area and it’s definitely hotter today.

I love the summer, but our summers are frying us. It's probably a bit more bearable living on the coast, but our inner cities are saunas. The UK is such a humid country being an island. I am thinking of renting a house for 2 months in the north of Scotland next summer.
