Is this enough food for a barbecue?

I’m having a barbecue for 24 people on Saturday. I haven’t hosted for this many before so can I check with those if you who are more experienced whether this is the right amount of food?

On the barbecue:

24 burgers
24 hot dogs

Prepared in advance and served cold:

50 buns
A large gammon joint
15 barbecue chicken drumsticks
15 plain drumsticks
A potato salad with lemon and garlic
Homemade coleslaw
A Caesar salad
Another type of vegan salad

Then for people arriving I’ll have a cheeseboard, crisps, dips, and sweets out.

Is it enough? Should I add a pasta salad?

How can you arsed to feel so strongly about someone who’s made a thread about a barbecue? It is absolutely tragic.

How can you be so arsed to post a thread about a BBQ in the first place; then slag everyone off, then double down on people being sad and pathetic with their responses.
it is you that has the problem love

How can I be arsed to post for advice? Are you okay?

Well, I’ve got a barbecue going on, you see? That is why I am posting. Most replies are sensible and sane people, but there is always a few for whom Mumsnet is quite literally their life, and they get themselves very upset and angry about mundane threads.

What, like you? You have been passive aggressive rude to loads of people on here. The majority of whom have said BUY MORE FOOD. Or don’t. Who cares! What is hilarious is you making fun of people when you are the one asking about how much food to get in the first place. And making gammon for a BBQ. Weird.

Are you a bit thick (presume so).
you asked for advice. You got it. You do not like the advice. You then start being rude about the advice and slagging people off for being on MN. When you are also on MN. Asking for advice that you clearly do not want to take and being rude to people in the process. Grow up

Bloody hell. Warm out, isn’t it.

I know plenty of people who eat normal sausages, but literally not a single adult that would eat a tinned dog sausage, barbequed or otherwise. I think 'most people' is a stretch. Do you honestly, really believe a tinned hot dog sausage is a delicious treat that people want to eat at a party? Would you invite people round for a dinner party and serve them tinned hot dogs?

I appreciate people are different, but it's extremely unlikely your guests will eat tinned hot dog sausages for choice (and you yourself don't like them/won't eat them).

You are wasting your time. OP has asked a question that she literally does not want the answer to, as she already thinks she is right. And I agree. Only my son eats tinned and jar hot dogs. No one else I know would touch them

Packofsix · 12/08/2026 14:23

Do you understand that you don’t have to ask a question on a public forum that you actually do not want the answer to; then get cross when you are not getting the answer you want? Enjoy your BBQ with your tinned hot dogs.

The question is this Is this enough food for a barbecue?

The amount of items. Is there enough. Not, what do you like to eat or does your husband eat salads?

Is there a cap on barbecue threads?

Very good contribution.

I have almost been convinced that I asked people if they eat hotdogs.

She didn’t know they were sad bastards until she’d asked the question. People are fuming that she hasn’t immediately capitulated to what others think she should serve.

And yet, she asked what she should serve
