Is this enough food for a barbecue?

I’m having a barbecue for 24 people on Saturday. I haven’t hosted for this many before so can I check with those if you who are more experienced whether this is the right amount of food?

On the barbecue:

24 burgers
24 hot dogs

Prepared in advance and served cold:

50 buns
A large gammon joint
15 barbecue chicken drumsticks
15 plain drumsticks
A potato salad with lemon and garlic
Homemade coleslaw
A Caesar salad
Another type of vegan salad

Then for people arriving I’ll have a cheeseboard, crisps, dips, and sweets out.

Is it enough? Should I add a pasta salad?

Your life must be so sad.

Yep, thought response would be something like this.

Fingers crossed for the bbq

hope your guests appreciate the quite incredible amount of time you have been preoccupied with posting about planning it on Mumsnet! 🤞

I have no idea why it angers you that I’m having a barbecue and that I’m asking about its planning on Mumsnet, but yes, I’m sure I will have a very good time.

They’d whinge if you didn’t respond to people too @Theresip. You’ll be wrong whatever you do. I blame the lack of hotdogs in their lives.

Yep… same as last thread. Accusing posters left right and centre of being “angry”!

dontmalbeconme · 12/08/2026 20:47

Oh gosh! No one is angry at you for having a barbeque. People are trying to stop you from embarassing yourself. But, at the end of the day, if you're happy with what you're supplying, and you're 100% sure your guests will be happy with what you're supplying, then crack on and have a great time!

Sorry, OP, but that's pretty hilarious.

I just messaged you and @mulberrymilk to point you in the direction of the thread. But I see you both clocked it before me! 😆

They do provide a bit of entertainment though. They’re over on the vegan barbecue thread wanging on about meat there too.

Yep, you kept on repeated this to multiple posters on your other thread about this bbq!

Almost 350 posts… I hope your guests appreciate the mumsnetting you have invested in to this bbq!

What a life you are living.

Literally on tenterhooks to get the update on Sunday (it’ll be an incredible success, you were right about everything,
all your guests said it was the BEST bbq they’d ever been to , plentiful food. and not one single man offered to help with the bbq!!)

Quitedark · 12/08/2026 20:57

Good luck @Theresip
i will leave you to it
but you really really deserve this bbq to go well
goodness knows you have spent enough time posting about it

good luck!

I’m posting on my own thread. You are spending your time trolling people and messaging your pretend online friends.

See, you're trying to goad me.

I would be embarrassed at hosting how you're hosting. But I'm me, and you're you.

You are comfortable with your offering. So crack on with it. You do you.

Someone hosts a perfectly ordinary barbecue with perfectly ordinary food, and checks whether people think there is enough.

’Off her rocker’ 😂. You are amazing entertainment.

So random. She asks ‘is this enough food’ overwhelmingly people say ‘no.’ And she gets snippy about it. Like others have said, so, so many posts from her about a BBQ. I actually think she is just making it up for rage bait as she is a. It sad and lonely with no friends

Who knew hot dogs could inspire rage?

It’s bonkers to be hounding threads about mundane subjects and working yourself into such a lather about it.

I have repeatedly told you that you are struggling with either reading or comprehension, because you cannot seem to grasp that I have made changes.

It’s pretty funny though don’t you think?!
especially the (now hundreds) of responses accusing left right and centre of posters being angry or struggling to understand!

did you read the other thread?

Bigreddog25 · 12/08/2026 22:22

Theresip · 11/08/2026 13:14

Is a burger, hot dog, chicken drumstick and slices of gammon really not enough meat for one person?! Maybe I should get more chicken and another gammon.

Edited

Not more gammon. Who has ever eaten gammon at a BBQ?
If more of anything- sausages and chicken. Maybe some chicken wings?

Why are you serving this cold? That's the biggest issue here.
