I'm only just up & drinking my first cuppa of the day, in the conservatory, with dd2. I'm about to take my tablets, then sort them for the coming week.

Today will be a slow, moochy, kind of day here. I'll continue digging out the bindweed as much as I can, further up the garden, and spend some time tidying/deadheading my big pot out the front of the house. I'll pick the toms and check on my strawbs too.

I'm not spending all day in the sun - I come out in an awful rash if I do - so plan to continue my crochet project later on & maybe have a walk to Lidl. Although, maybe I'll send the girls to Lidl & just crochet 🤔.

Dd2's not sure what she's doing yet - I suggested looking for new trainers & a bag for her college things since hers broke not long before the end of school. I think I'll leave dd1 a little longer, but not much...dd2 says she was still scrolling online at 7am when she nipped to the loo!

We're having roast chicken for tea. Planned to be a roast but maybe not - I think it might be better with salady bits & some crusty bread.

Tonight, I'll see if anyone fancies a game of 221B before picking up my book for a couple of hours.

What about all of you? 🙂

Son and dog away for the weekend. Enjoying the quiet as all hell breaks loose tomorrow with the start of building works.

gingercat02 · 09/08/2026 09:58

Morning all, just finishing my coffee before my class.
Its raining here, so this afternoon I'm going to make jam, pickled beetroot and banana bread.
No plans for tea as yet, I may have a look for a what's for dinner thread, or you lot can give me your ideas.
Not a roast, DS is not a fan.
Happy Sunday everyone

Thislittlekitten · 09/08/2026 10:01

Good Morning

Slow start here to the day. I’ve had dog out for a pee. Fed him and the cats. And then brought tea and coffee back to bed for me and DH. Need this lie in.

Today will be a course work day. I really need to get my bum in gear. I’ll sort the kitchen in stages too and iron a little.

Bacon rolls soon. And more tea for me. DH is making his famous satay chicken today for tea. Can’t wait.

Both kids asleep, I’ll not bother them. Will let everyone chill. Have a busy week ahead before school starts.

I stayed up too late last night to finish a book. If I get enough work done today I’ll start another one.

Enjoy your Sundays everyone.

PermanentTemporary · 09/08/2026 10:06

Good morning! Enjoying a quiet start as our usual exercise class teacher is off for a week, plus we drive 4 hours yesterday to visit family. Dp has already done morning jobs (dishwasher, cat litter, bed making) and has gone to the shed for well deserved gaming time. I’m about to have a shower then second coffee, then bits of planning for the week on WhatsApp, we have a few outings booked. Probably a bit late to water the garden, though perhaps it’s overcast enough. Some tomato gathering and maybe make a pasta sauce with them though tbh will probably just eat them as they are with a bit of cheese.

Exciting evening as I am fulfilling a lifetime ambition (if it happens) by going on a hot air balloon ride. It was cancelled earlier in the year and has been v stressful to try and rebook so I will be truly stunned if it really happens!

troppibambini6 · 09/08/2026 10:06

Good morning all.

Im still in bed dh has just brought me a coffee. I was out for eldest DDs hen do yesterday which was fun but i dont usually drink much and got well into the swing yesterday and im feeling a bit grotty.
The three younger dc are still in their rooms/bed. We dont have any plans today at all as a very busy day yesterday but dh has just suggested going for breakfast which sounds like a good plan!

Kim82 · 09/08/2026 10:14

Good morning everyone, it’s been a nice, slow start here today, I’ve been up since 7.30am and haven’t moved off the sofa yet. Me, dh, dsis and dbil are all awake but dd12 and her friend who stayed over last night are still asleep. Dh is currently making bacon sandwiches for everyone which are much needed - I’m so hungry this morning!

It’s Dd’s 19th birthday today so im looking forward to celebrating with her. I’ve not seen her yet as she stayed out last night at her friend’s - a group of them went to the theatre then out for drinks afterwards so I’ve no idea what time she will arrive home - no doubt tired and hungover. We have no plans for this afternoon so I plan on sitting out in the sun for a bit then we’re off out for dinner this evening to dd19(!)’s favourite Italian restaurant which I’m looking forward to.

ShipshapeShore · 09/08/2026 10:18

Wallpapering. Although neither of us seem to be making moves to actually start! It's only a small area so I'm hoping it's not too awful.

Sesame2011 · 09/08/2026 10:23

Sounds lovely OP.

I am home alone with my 12 month old as partner is away at work until tomorrow. Luckily she slept a solid 13 hours last night. Need to head out to the supermarket, will probably have brunch and coffee at the tesco cafe since kids eat free and she can enjoy some toast and beans.

Then come home and watch her tornado about the house. I will wait till bedtime to tidy up as otherwise no point. Its raining here today so not a good day for park or garden. Hope we dont go too crazy 😂

Cameodance · 09/08/2026 10:37

Morning all, I have been up early as I can no longer lay in it seems. I have walked the dog and made breakfast wraps on my return. Just about to hang out the washing before I head to Waitrose for some of their parsley sauce to go with salmon and cheese mash &veg. Easy dinners all week while I finish my dissertation the end is in sight but the pressure is on! Enjoy your Sundays. Jealous of those with rain!

Rainbow1235 · 09/08/2026 10:41

DilemmaDelilah · 09/08/2026 10:43

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Yesterday's birthday celebration went really well! However I had quite a backache by the end of the day, which I still have this morning. I've just ironed a dress to be packed up for Vinted as well, which didn't help.

Mr Dilemma is about to go out to post said dress, and to pick me up some Solpadeine max, as paracetamol isn't cutting it and I can't take ibuprofen as well as I'm on blood thinners.

We now have a hosepipe ban, so Mr Dilemma has been out removing the marigolds from the veggie beds and digging up the (very few) potatoes. Since we're going to have to use watering cans and water from our water butts, there no point in watering things we don't need and which are annuals anyway.

I've put a wash in the machine, and will put whatever I can onto the line when it finishes. I have no particular plans for the rest of the day. This evening we will be eating the very small amount of sugared pork leftovers we kept for ourselves with some rice, the rest went home with local daughter and her family.

Have a lovely day everybody or at least the best day possible.

DH is away in France at the moment and DD is back home from university for a few days before going to Paris with 3 boys from university.

The silkies are wandering the garden, there's a sparrowhawk about, but it's 31C here today and they love wandering the garden. It's sunrise and sunset main risk, sunrise is easy to avoid them out, sunset will need to play chase the chickens.

Just having a lazy day really and catching up with DD as has been busy recently. I will be watching the American experiment on US political history on Netflix some more. Have given cat his tuna and changed both his water bowls, cuddled him, told him how beautiful he is (this makes him purr) and played with him. Had some smoked salmon for breakfast which I managed to eat without the cat spotting it. Managed to open a jar of pickled onions I had been trying to open and DD tried to open and ate them all.

Peridot1 · 09/08/2026 11:01

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I’ve managed to miss these threads the last few weeks.

Lazy morning so far although was up for 8 as had a call with my friends in Auz and NZ. And France as one of the Auz ones is currently in France. Love being able to chat with them.

Have had a few cups of tea and some bread and honey.

Village BBQ this afternoon which DH is organising so he has gone over to put a gazebo up. It will be 30 degrees. Last year we had gazebos as it was raining and this year for the sun.

I am about to put the dishwasher in and fold some laundry and then go for a shower.

Dinner will probably be at the pub after BBQ clear up. And probably an early night.

therockingbird · 09/08/2026 11:09

Morning all, I’m home alone - boys away at their dads. It’s peaceful here but god I miss them! I’m having coffee writing my task list.. I’m doing a front garden tidy up, then a nice soak followed by toe nail polish refresh. Then I’m off to the local DL gym for a sound bath / spirit session and then a nice dip in the outside pool. I’ll probably eat there afterwards and check my emails for the coming week. I find filling my days when the teens aren’t part of the schedule quite hard so I’m being very proactive ☺️

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 09/08/2026 11:24

Good morning lucysmam and others. I was up at 6 after a fairly good night. 2 coffees, a cup of tea and a slice of toast for breakfast. Then I ran the dishwasher before I left for Aldi. I did my usual weekly shop and was at the checkout queue when the man in front said he was paying for my shopping! Apparently he does this occasionally. I was very touched because it was completely unexpected and such a nice thing to do. I've had a scone on homemade raspberry jam and a cuppa. Shortly I'm making peanut butter cookies and Nutella cookies for my grandsons. Have a good day all.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 09/08/2026 11:35

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. I missed yesterday’s post as I was so busy. Still in bed but about to get up & at ‘em. I keep putting off going to a lovely NT property ( I’m a member) & I think today will be exceptionally busy. Plenty to do here though . I’m supposed to be decluttering but kind of lost my senses on Vinted & have bought loads of fine china, vintage glassware etc. I won a fairly big sum of money & spent a lot of it. Luckily I can store stuff at my Dad’s whilst I try to rent a cabinet at a local antiques place. Will be great if I can set up during the current high season as there will be more footfall. I don’t have time for photographing, packaging & posting for E Bay etc. One great thing is that folks on Vinted don’t always realise the value of their items so I’ve secured things for less than a fiver that are worth ten times that or more.
I made a cuppa around 9 for me & DH & finished loading the dishwasher. We all forgot that there were dirty dishes in there so we piled our used crockery on the work surface instead of putting it in the dishwasher. I also put on a load of washing then there will be 2 lots to hang out. Another beautiful day here in Cornwall. What a summer we’re having! Need to pop to the PO to find out the postage for a couple of Joules tops I sold on Marketplace. Also drop a parcel at an Inpost locker as I sold a Paddington snowglobe on Vinted. Will ask DH to wrap a pair of wedge sandals which also sold. We don’t have any shoeboxes. No idea what’s for lunch or tea. I didn’t do a meal plan & honestly, it’s really thrown me! Must do one for next week. I’m out twice so that’s 2 fewer meals to think of. DD17 was up reasonably early for her & went on a long walk (or at least was out for ages). She’s had a sudden spurt of energy & cleared some rubbish out of her room. Bought her a 2nd hand record player yesterday as an early birthday present so she’ll be digging out her vinyls. DM has been quite unwell for a couple of days with a possible infection. DF was very worried about her as they were out & she suddenly went unconscious. Two carers from her home had to travel to help DF as he couldn’t get her back into the wheelchair by himself. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. Oh & we need to buy a new king size duvet for DD as hers is completely wrecked! Probably pop into work although it was absolutely insane during my afternoon shift yesterday & may well be worse today. I actually surprised myself as I dealt with so much, including irate customers, and I really managed to help ease the chaos. I am always very quick to put myself down but lately the many changes at work have proved that I can push myself right out of my comfort zone. Will be watching The Antiques Roadshow for inspiration tonight! Have a great day all ❤️

Simonjt · 09/08/2026 14:06

Afternoon all, we’ve been swimming and we had a bike ride today before stopping for a picnic.

We’ve got a busy week coming up and school starts next wednesday, so we’re going to get all the school bits sorted and ready today.

@MarmaladeSandwich7 I hope she’s doing better soon.

Tiddlywinks63 · 09/08/2026 15:36

Good afternoon.
i had absolutely no idea what day of the week it is until the thread popped up!
My lung surgery went well on Tuesday and, apart from feeling like I’ve been hit by a truck, I am ok.
I came home Friday, DS has left after being here for the weekend, and so long as I don’t cough, sneeze, laugh or hiccup the pain’s manageable.
Not looking forward to the high temperatures again this week, at least the house is cool x

How lovely ! I’d have been tempted to put it all back and taken him to M&S!
Had a bit of a lie in this morning had late night with few voddies partaken of ! Walked dog and did some tidying up in garden. Another hot day here (another heatwave next week) so currently parked on my sunbed contemplating starting dinner (having roast later) must be mad!

That’s a lovely thing @LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand

Very interested in The American Experiment @OneZanyCat thank you for that…

Hello everyone!
I knew I was going to have quite a busy day so I did some of my usual Sunday morning routine last night - sorting my tablets for the week to come and a repeat prescription request.
Therefore I got up with a cup of tea at a fairly leisurely pace, had a shower and did my hair and dressed. Then I called one my best friends who I usually talk to on a Sunday morning and chatted about our respective weeks. He has had an serious injury recently but appears to be coming out the other side of it so that was a relief.
Then I set off to go and play with a concert band I play In regularly in a major central London open space (don’t want to be too outing!). I stopped for some breakfast in a Costa and arrived in good time. The playing went well and a friend of mine came to hear us and we went to
have a cuppa and something to eat afterwards and caught up with each other’s news.
I’m now on my way home and will probably take it fairly easy for the rest of the day although I should probably try to catch up with my ironing!

Judellie · 09/08/2026 16:15

I am late today! It's rained most of the day so all I've really done is empty the dishwasher, take DD to work, dropping DS off for church on the way and entered a few competitions.
Managed to stay off cake and chocolate for a whole week so had a soft boiled egg and slices of beef from the deli for breakfast; dipped the beef in the yolk.
Fitted in a quick walk between the showers then picked DD up. DH opened a tin of chicken soup for lunch but he watered it down so much it might as well have been just water. Hence having bread with it. I did offer to do fish, wish I'd stuck with that idea.
Going to do a roast dinner for tea; have been sitting about too much today so I think I will go and start some of it now (ie peel potatoes)
