Have I been lucky with Vinted, or do some misunderstand it?

I’m a relatively new user of vinted; but so far I’ve been pretty impressed with it. I’ve only sold and bought things at pretty low cost, but it’s encouraged me to declutter and I’ve not bought any ‘new’ clothes for months. However lots of people complain about it. Have I just been lucky or are people not understanding what vinted really is?

I think most people just don’t get what it is. I’ve had one bad experience (sent wrong item) and was rectified very quickly and I got a refund.

Ah I really need to get my arse in gear and put some more up to sell. Where do you keep stuff while you're waiting for it to sell? Thats where I struggle.

I've only used it for selling old kids clothes and it's been fine, no real issues. About to list a load of old monsoon dresses that I wore once for various weddings.

I put it in the bags I’ll post it in and keep it in a cupboard or a drawer. If it’s not sold in a month it goes to the charity shop so someone wins no matter what.

I’ve been mostly lucky, had a bad buy once but am still saving money overall. Plenty of bargains.

It is a bugger though… have to scroll through 2 sizes rather than one, and now they’re including American listings whether you want them or not! There’s no way to filter out.

I don’t think I’d buy anything high value from there.

See that's smart cos I'm usually scrabbling around for a bag when anything sells.

i buy all my clothes my kids clothes makeup and christmas gifts from vinted. i sell occasionally as someone on a very low income its life changing

My only gripe with Vinted is the postage.

I don't buy anything of value it's most kids things. But unless I can buy a minimum of 2 things I feel are worth the £4ish postage I don't bother. I found a lovely pair of jeans but the postage was double the jeans bringing the total to £9 and then I may as well have got a new pair.

I can’t even say the word Vinted without feeling cross. Two years ago I set up an account and followed the guidance to sell a branded pair of boots. I had rooof of purchase etc. They were bought and I sent them and then had my account blocked because the buyer claimed they were fake. I tried for weeks to actually speak to someone in vinted, I provided all the evidence needed and nothing, no boots and no refund. When I spoke to CAB they said vinted are one of the most complained about companies around.
what made me so mad was also the blocking of the account so that I couldn’t appeal to the buyer etc. Awful awful experience.

Read on here (I think) quite a while ago, someone saying ‘only buy or sell on Vinted what you can afford to lose.’ I think this is brilliant advice.
I mostly love it, have sold clothes and made a little money and have got some great bargains, but have also been sent the wrong thing twice and had parcels mysteriously go missing. Vinted are useless at sorting anything out for you.

You've been lucky. Make sure there is a photograph of the size of clothing or shoes. Just been sent wrong size shoes advertised from a pro account this week. Seller was rude despite me still having to pay for return postage.

I've had 99% good experiences - the only bad one was when I was sent what was clearly a fake pair of Dr Martens, but Vinted refunded me. Otherwise I'm just careful to not buy anything too expensive off someone with no/poor reviews, make sure I'm not buying off a reseller/fakes-looking page, and when I sell I'm very careful to be clear about even the tiniest marks etc so nobody can argue. Like you I barely buy new now and I feel like it helps me really think about what I want to buy - because I have to hunt for stuff - instead of just grabbing something off the shelf and paying.

We’ve had mostly good buys , one bad buy ( stinky and damaged coat ) which we returned at our cost and one manipulative buyer which put my teen off a bit , luckily his next buyer was lovely !

I love it, buy and occasionally sell. No real dramas, a couple of things came that were listed as the wrong size (I have learnt now to ask if it’s not photographed which it usually is) and I just sold them on.
have really only had success but I wouldn’t buy or sell high value goods on there, nothing more than £100.

I've had one bad experience as a buyer, where they just never bothered to send it but Vinted dealt with that automatically. And one buyer who apparently was having issues with the Evri system at her local pick up but just would not keep me updated for over a month. Funnily she managed to pick it up when I told her I was opening a request to get it returned! I blocked her after that. Other than that have had absolutely no issues at all and find it great for getting a few quid for stuff that just would have ended up at the charity shop.

I've mostly been lucky with Vinted, too. A couple of times I've had smelly stuff and just binned it. I've also learned about different brands that I've never heard of before. Overall I would say my experience has been good.

I’ve sold things and been pleased as organised they’d have gone to a charity shop. But I can’t work out how to search effectively? On my phone I can’t seem to filter easily?

I've had some excellent experiences and some not so good.

I've probably wasted around £40 buying items that turned out not to be what I expected. Some sellers fail to mention they've altered the length to fit them or the item shrank in the wash and the label bears no resemblance to the actual size of the item I've received! I've had a couple of items not sent or lost but received a full refund.

Overall I've been happiest with Vinted for holiday, seasonal and evening clothing, probably because they're not worn as much.

I like Vinted - have bought lots of interesting things - but I avoid things that could be fake (eg certain brands of trainers etc).

I'm pretty happy with my Vinted experience. Not sure what there is to understand, you buy things that other people are selling. I've been able to buy things like clothes and toys that I'd never consider buying new. The Inpost locker system is the game changer for me, because I can't be at home to wait in for parcels but popping out to a locker is easy and can be done when it's convenient for me.

I haven't sold anything because I'm worried I wouldn't have time to package up and post an item quickly, life gets busy in unpredictable ways. But I'm hanging on to my dc's old clothes rather than giving to charity, for when I have more time. Even if I only get a few quid for it, that's a few more than I'd get if I just gave it away.

I've been pretty lucky bar one item which was fake. The person who sent it to me either didnt realise it was fake or knew and tried blagging they didnt know. I dont think they thought I'd be able to tell

Are you using the app? I have to say I find it quite easy to filter from the options at the top.
I’m also generally looking for something specific and filter by the brands I would usually buy from.

I’ve found selling on Vi Ted has been good but buying has been hot and miss. I’ve bought 3 tops and 2 of them aren’t what I thought they’d be. But overall I’m quids in. I just sold a higher value item and am waiting for the buyer to send the money. Am a little worried it’s taking so long after receipt to get my ££!

I buy nearly all my clothes from Vinted. Never had a bad experience. I always go for the cheaper deliver to a locker postage.
