Getting my daughters birthday gifts together. She will be 8. Is she too old for this?

She sounds very lucky indeed 🙂

Thank you! I am on a tight budget atm as my finances took a hit around 4 months ago and I was feeling a little guilty but I am realising that what I am getting is plenty and I have just been going overboard all the other years. Especially now there is two of them.

I think it’s sad that many on here think Frozen is too young for an 8 year old, my daughter’s friend has a 10 year old who adores Frozen and everything else Disney Princess, she loves her dolls, plays with them, as did I at that age, and my two DDs.

My two still love Disney Princess! Never too old IMO.

If you think your daughter will love this scooter OP just get it for her. I always told mine that anyone mocking them for their likes and interests were the problem, and to be proud of whatever they were, I have two adult DDs now, happy and thriving

It's not that the adults think that, it's that we have experience of children who think that. As I previously said, I've worked (in various schools, in various areas) with 7-9 year olds for the past decade and Frozen tends to be more of a passion in infants. Children have always declared certain things too young for them - generally things that they were particularly enthusiastic about at one point, like Paw Patrol or indeed Frozen - and it is disingenuous to suggest otherwise. The OP has confirmed her child likes Frozen and has been widely encouraged to get the scooter in that case. The child must also be the absolute oldest in the school year which is also a factor as she's only Y3. However, if you were buying it for a random 8 year old, particularly one about to enter Y4, it probably wouldn't be the safest choice.

I agree I wouldn’t buy it for a random child of 8, we’re Scottish and my DDs are adults now, so I forget the difference between years and primaries.

An 8 year old here is Primary 4, and 12 is S1, I would have no issue buying it for any child if I knew they liked Frozen or anything else. Probably not explaining myself properly, I’m only saying I think this scooter is absolutely fine for an 8 year old.

Yes she is the oldest, I am glad she is only just going in to y3, I'd be gutted with a young y4 who has had even less time to be little. I also liked her school was an infant school so she hasn't been watching the older children.

Think it is finally dawning on my how fast these young years go.

Get a plainer one. My daughter would have outgrown that style by age 9

See I don’t get this. She’s surely declared stuff she used to love babyish already? If you tried to stick on cocomelon would she not say she’s too old for it? Or whatever else she loved to watch when she was a toddler? It’s normal, they have stuff they love, they get a bit older and then they like something new. Even when it couldn’t possibly be called babyish e.g. Wicked, kids are usually obsessed for a bit then move onto something else. So I personally wouldn’t buy anything big such as a scooter in any kind of design. Buy quality, a normal design and she’ll hopefully be on it until secondary school!
