Costco - do you go?

Tempted to get a card - I've never been!

We (me, dh and ds 14) shop in Tesco mainly. I love a big shop mooch and feel like it's somewhere I'll go on my own if I ever pass my test (currently having lessons at the grand old age of 48!)

Do you go? Would you recommend it?

Has anyone been for petrol since the prices went up? Is it still reasonably priced there?

190.9 for diesel and 174.9 for premium unleaded here

The prices at your nearest one will be on their website to be more accurate.

Thanks - didn’t realise they had it on the website! More expensive here but still less than BP, Tesco etc. Might be worth us joining if prices stay so high.

Everything is bought in massive bulk sizes so you do need lots of storage.

some stuff is more expensive, other stuff is cheaper, it’s swings and roundabouts.

I don’t like the fruit, the cooked chickens are lovely!

toilet roll is very good.

bottles of water are 9p a bottle of 500ml.

trolleys are a nightmare to push!

Would love to but nearest 100 miles away (same for Ikea). Amazing really that they don't open a few more branches.

ExtremeDecluttering · 28/09/2026 09:06

I guess they both need to go for high population density areas to get enough footfall. I might make a visit next week, I also need to go to Decathlon which is fairly nearby, I just wish ours did petrol, but I suspect there isn't enough space, the car park gets pretty full.

Bit of advice, don’t go on a Sunday afternoon around payday. It was chaos yesterday. The queues were horrendous. We walked out.

I think petrol was about 166.6 p from memory, so about 5p + cheaper than local petrol stations.

162.9 for regular unleaded yesterday. 5p cheaper than Tesco which was next cheapest.

Having said ours doesn’t do much tasting I went today and there were taste stations all over the place, I usually go at the weekend when it’s much busier so I guess that’s why. Cafe was very quiet too although I didn’t stop there. Might stick to midweek in future if I can, but it isnt always easy to get there.

Our local one which is about a 10 minute drive from us doesn’t bloody do petrol 😩 If they did I’d actually go to Costco!

I think we'll be going at the weekend. Dh works fairly close to ours so goes for fuel.
Taster stations are very hit and miss!

Cheap crap sold in bulk? No ta.

I'd rather have less and pay more for it.

Cheap crap? My last shop included-

Fairy liquid
Persil
Lenor
Heinz beans and ketchup and Mayo
Sparkling water
Nescafe
Tetley
Milk
Steak
Villa Maria Wine
Grey Goose Vodka
Ninja Airfryer
Coke and diet coke
Prawns
Organic Olive Oil
Vanish stain remover
Colgate toothpaste

Yeah, cheap crap. What twaddle.
